Found your channel while surfing a topic and watched a few vids. I've had a YT channel for a long time and the hardest thing there is to it is to find your own voice. You were well on your way to doing that, and have a nice natural presence. Sorry to see the disappointments and frustrations, but you're very young and you have your lifetime together for many new adventures. Thanks for the momentary glimpse into your world, and wish you every good thing there is.

HH is great when it works, but if you have a large rig/trailer make sure they can accommodate. The host may list +45 feet but have a 12' wide driveway with a 90deg turn w/ culverts. Had to back out a few times now. From now on we check google maps as best we can to scout out the location

hey friends.... enjoyed the video... I just wished that Harvest Host would not hit my card un-aware. If you don't want them, you have to actually go in and cancel your subscription, else they will automatically charge you EVERY year. You may have a bad year medically or financially.. no matter they will charge you unless you cancel out your whole deal. This year.... I didn't want to use it. I'm thinking that I won't sign up this year. But guess what? They charged hit me for $159...... Now I am a member for another year... "Like it or not" Beware of this when you chose to buy in..... Because of this policy... I will never buy another membership with them again....

It's worth pointing out that you set up a big challenge for yourself and had some bad luck. I wouldn't give up on RVing. In 20 years of RVing, I've never experienced anything like what you experienced. Every type of RV is a set of tradeoffs. My parents had a 5th wheel and were always dealing with tire (and other) issues. But my dad wanted a recliner and a fake fireplace. The hassle, limitations, and expense were worth it to him. Your choice made sense given that you were trying to make your RV your permanent home. Now that you have a permanent home, a different type of RV might be a better fit. You've got a truck. Consider a truck camper. Accessing amazing places is so much easier with a truck camper or a van than pulling any kind of trailer. It's easier to drive, and you can stop just about anywhere you want. We travel 4-6 weeks each year and most years we don't stay in a single campground. We've had the same Lance truck camper for 20 years. Our 21 year old son has gotten to see most of the western US and Canada because of it. (I will concede that being located in Florida is a disadvantage for you.) Also, a can of bear spray is a great deterrent for a rando looking to start a fight. :-) Good luck to you both.

Two words- Van life! A good van that's capable of boondocking/off grid (lithium batteries/water capacity, etc.) will get you away from having to "hook up" at RV parks, and hence, get you away from the potential bad interactions with the crazies at RV parks. Vans are self contained, more durable, safer, and easy to maneuver also. We have a Van (don't do CZcams with it though) and on the rare occasions we have to go to an RV park, we hate it. All of our negative experiences have been from inconsiderate or just crazy people at these campgrounds! Boondocking gets us away and gives us so much freedom and has been nothing but positive. I guess what I'm saying is don't give up on the lifestyle, just adjust IMO. Vans can be pricey, but so worth it if you can swing it. I would suggest something like a Winnebago Revel or Storyteller overland. Best of luck to you guys going forward!

It was fun while it lasted!

We used harvest host a lot our first year in our RV. We only paid for harvest host and not boondockers welcome. We chose HH because we have kids and thought staying at farms would be cool but I don't like that we paid $90 for the year and then we are expected to spend money at the HH. Don't get me wrong, I love supporting local businesses but the prices were steep. When someone tells you HH is free they are lying. This year we plan to boondock in the national forests and blm land a lot. If we need a one night stay there is always tuck stops and cracker barrel's.

Nice video! We have been planning to visit Austin since your supposed to keep it wierd like Portland Oregon where we have spent alot of time. Looked like a fun little laid back honky-tonk! Well, I don't think you're idiots for preparing for bad weather while RVing, I think it's smart. As you say, most people just blow off severe weather, but I guarantee that no one who has been actually caught in the middle of a hurricane or tornado do so. It's serious stuff. This last, late December, we were setting up in the middle of a local Tornado Warning. We were soaked in minutes and we were wearing decent raingear. Then my wife was struck in the head by a falling branch (just suffered a bruise luckily), and that was when we made a beeline for the bathhouse with our bugout bags (that my wife had thoughtfully prepped for the trip). We ultimately did get set up and suffered no damage or injuries, but it was pretty scary. Excellent suggestions you offer.

I started watching only recently, but have subscribed and liked each and every one. You two do such a great job of providing humor, comedy, and information about what you're doing, where you've been staying, and about your adventures, good or bad. And the skits are priceless!
