How to spot a fake explosion.
This footage circulated on twitter via telegram, purporting to be of the strike leading to the destruction of the Kerch (Crimea - Russia) Bridge on 08/10/2022
While the bridge did go boom, this particular footage is clearly fake firstly due to the time of day pictured, but on further inspection we can see the explosion itself was overlaid too.
The genuine footage is thankfully much more widely spread than this clip and offers a fantastic view of the scale of the explosion and the resulting damage, but I thought it would be a good teaching moment for anyone new to analysing footage on social media.
