SAFETY FIRST. The engine will be running during this procedure, so be very careful with all moving parts like pulleys and fans, also watch out for hot surfaces from your engine. Make sure you take all the safety precautions. Read up on the product and warnings.
Doing this service will help you with start ups, improve performance and MPG, and reduce emissions.
It is important to use good quality gas and oil so your engine does not build too much carbon overtime.
Work with a clean engine.
If possible use an air compressor to blow away any debris sitting around the engine.
If you want to do a deeper cleaning, use this product for a second time following the same procedure after 1000 miles, only if you are not yet in the habit of doing this every 10K miles.
The vehicle should be at operating temperature when starting to spray the product. So warm up the vehicle before you start.
Loosen the connection on the engine side of the filter and insert the straw tours the engine side. Then tighten the connection again. You do not want any debris going into your engine.
If you decide to work with old boots, disconnect the passenger side boot from the centrifuge and connect the spare piece from the centrifuge.
Ask somebody you trust to help you revving the engine. Make sure the person understands that the RPMs are not supposed to go past 2000 while you are spraying. Ask the person in the car to try to stay between 1500 RPM and 2000 RPM, but do not try to compensate when the car stalls a little when spraying. Unless they feel the car is about to shut down, but do not exceed 3500 RPM.
Spray on the line after the filters, the product will go through the turbos and then the top of the valves, cleaning everything on the way. Spray away from the filters.
When spraying only spray upright or upside down, the manufacturer recommends not to spray sideways.
Do short, 1 second, sprays a second apart.
Alternate between sides until the bottle is empty. Then rev the engine up to 3500 RPM 3 times.
When the car settles down, let it idle for a minute and shut it off.
Wait for about an hour and drive the car at highway speeds for about 10 minutes.
It is great to use fuel injection system cleaners regularly as I show on my video
czcams.com/video/VI3Ym1ChF6k/video.html
When it comes to the valves, you are only cleaning the bottom of the valves. Following this procedure will help you clean the top of the valves.
Normally you would have to take the intake apart to be able to clean the top of the valves in a GDI engine, but with this product you can keep your system in good shape by doing this maintenance item at least every 10K miles and doing it yourself.
Do not spray this product on a Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). This car in particular, Mercedes S550 does not have a MAF sensor. The 2017 Mercedes S550 has a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP). So if you do have a Mass sensor, spray away from the Mass sensor.

    Jose. I wonder if Redline 0w40 is a good option for this engine. The specs show that it is essentially a super-oil. Have you tried it?

    • @josecitomarin
      @josecitomarin Před 7 dny

      Hey. I never tried Redline. I rather stick to what the manufacturers recommend. As you can see in the report, I am doing pretty well with Mobil 1 5w40, which is the Mercedes recommendation for this car. Keep in mind that this recommendation is also by location/temperature. If you get a car that was originally sold in a very cold place, the recommendation on the cars manual may be different. I’m in NJ and my car was originally sold in NJ. It gets cold here, but not that cold. My cold startups are inside the garage as well so I don’t have the need for a thin oil like 0w40. Also don’t need to spend the extra money on super oils if the one the manufacturer recommends is working perfectly. As long as you do your oil changes often you won’t have a problem using a regular oil.

You make things much easier with your communications skills and techniques, so I'm sure others as well would appreciate your insight as a professional technician. I have run across several videos and forums that mention this as a positive change to do on the (m278) and (m157) engines. Please share your thoughts. Here is a quote from one of the posts. "I know several mercedes techs, some with 25+ years experience. ALL of the mercedes certified mechanics I know say to disconnect the solenoid. I could go on and on about why doing this improves the lifespan and performance of the engine but it's been said and covered. I've personally seen engines ruined by the oil restrictive solenoid going bad and locking out in a semi closed position. Regular oil changes, good routine maintenance and disconnect that solenoid brother. Cap it off, as well as the connector. Zip-tie or clamp the harness out of the way after disconnecting." czcams.com/video/MuZJSGN8qZ4/video.html

    Hi Jose. This may very well be the beginning of the end for that engine. The last thing that you want is carbon flaking off of your valves from the "cleaning procedure" and entering the combustion chamber... The carbon may likely become embedded in the top ring land and over time can badly score the liners. These are huge chunks of carbon on these valves, not just sintered carbon dust like you would have on a port injected or carbureted engine. Also carbon may pass through the engine become embedded in and damage the catalytic converters. This made up repair procedure from snake oil manufacturer is highly NOT RECOMMENDED. Remove the intake and clean the valves properly. It is the only way to do it. This is absolutely the worst advice I have ever seen given for any engine. Also everything goes through the two charge air pipes into the ONE heat exchanger on this engine... Anyway Not good advice at all in my opinion as a ex Mercedes-Benz factory rep.

      Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate your input on this. You are correct, the best way to clean the valves is taking the intake out. I may work on it one of this days. I just have another video I have to upload on spraying the valves then ill probably work on removing it to see how we are doing.

    I have a 2016 Sonata hybrid like this. Thankfully the newer ones have GDI/Port injection. Even using this spray, I have the BG service done every 12-18 months. I iave before/after BG photos that went from carbon covered to where i could see the piston head markings from the factory. 👍 172,000 miles so far, no issues. Even have the factory brake pads. ! The method I do this now is I installed an oil catch can years ago (as these people should) and I spray this or Seafoam in the hose going into the intake. I had mechanics tell me it worked better into the intake than the throttle body. 👍 It gets the back of the valves better-in theory.

    Your video was informative and thorough about the condition of engine oil. I’ve never had engine oil analysis done my daily driver has 360,000 miles and the oil is changed every 3000 miles 99 f250 7.3 liter v8 diesel. I don’t use any additives but every other oil change cycle I add one quart of transmission fluid since transmission fluid has very good detergent properties and after adding the transmission fluid drive about 500 miles then drain the oil.

    • @josecitomarin
      @josecitomarin Před 27 dny

      Thank you so much for your comment. That is one way of flushing the engine! You are doing great 360k without any problems. As long as you change your oil regularly you should be okay. But oil analysis can let you know the early stages of blow seal or even piston rings, among other things. I’m just glad things are working for you.

    Hi mate I have the same code (crash input,hse fault) but the my car is cranking Do you know what is the issues?

    • @josecitomarin
      @josecitomarin Před 29 dny

      Thank you so much for your comment. A crash input is a voltage problem. Many people thinks that the car thinks it crashed or the crashed sensor was triggered. But it’s not. So, you either have a short somewhere, in my case was the starter, or your battery needs to be replaced, if your battery is older than two years I would say change it. You can also start a circuit test. You would have to check amperage change in each circuit taking the fuses out one at the time and looking for a change to see what is shorting. I’m not sure if you are familiar with it but is a process where you have to be patient and very careful so you don’t burn your meter. There is also a voltage drop process. You have to see what you are more comfortable doing. So, I would check the battery first. It may be as simple as that. Run a battery test see if the battery is keeping the voltage.
