Your brain on marijuana: the benefits and risks (with Dr. Daniele Piomelli)
Dr. Daniele Piomelli, Director of the Institute for the Study of Cannabis at the University of California, Irvine, discusses how marijuana use can help us and harm us, and explains the neurochemistry behind why cannabis affects us in the ways that it does.
0:00 How cannabis drove scientific discoveries
3:03 Why do we get ‘the munchies’?
3:57 How marijuana can benefit the brain
7:18 Using CBD: are there benefits?
7:47 Does marijuana affect your memory?
In ‘Your Brain On... Marijuana’, we discuss:
• The difference between the THC and CBD cannabinoids, and their unique effects on our brains
• How your endocannabinoid system works, and how it’s altered under the influence of marijuana
• Why one woman with a genetic mutation that affected her endocannabinoid system couldn’t feel pain
• The benefits of marijuana: nausea relief, pain management, and possible uses for reducing seizure frequency and helping with mental health
• The risks of marijuana: memory disorders, addiction, developmental issues, and the dangers of high-potency products that are increasingly difficult to regulate
• Why we first consumed cannabis, about 12,000 years ago

*Beans and Noodle Soup* The Brain Docs (YT) czcams.com/video/SIO39AC-oBU/video.html *Ingredients* ½ cup Raw Cashews, soak in hot water overnight to soften ½ cup Mung Beans, cooked in 3 cups of water for 20 minutes Large Onion, diced 2 cloves Garlic, finely chopped 8 cups Vegetable Broth 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste 2 tsp Turmeric Fresh Cracked Black Pepper, to taste 2 tsp Ground Coriander ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper 15 ounce can Garbanzo Beans/Chickpeas 15 ounce can Kidney Beans Whole Wheat Spaghetti, broke in half so as to not have too long of noodles Fresh Mint Leaves, finely chopped, to taste 2 Lemons, juiced, to taste *Directions* In a heavy pot (Le Creuset 26 Dutch Oven) on medium high heat, add onions, garlic, and a bit of broth-stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes to brown. Add tomato paste, turmeric, black pepper, coriander, cayenne pepper, and a bit more broth-stir to combine and cook for about another minute. Add remaining broth, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, and soaked and drained mung beans-put the lid on the pot and bring to a boil. Remove the lid, add spaghetti (stirring occasionally, initially, to prevent the pasta from sticking together), and cook until the pasta is al dente. While the pasta is cooking, drain the soaked cashews and blend with a cup of water (to make cashew cream)-slowly add to the soup while stirring to combine. Once the pasta is cooked and the cashew cream has been added, turn off the heat. Add mint and freshly squeezed lemon juice-stir to combine. Serve in warmed bowls with a light sprinkle of pepper and a wee drizzle of cashew cream-enjoy : ) *Tips* You may want to sauté some sliced mushrooms with the onion and garlic. You can use a combination of any type of bean. You can add more lemon juice if you want more zest to your soup

No it doesn’t make sense. Statins are not causing dementia, it’s the bad diet that’s causing the damage on the brain. Myelin is mostly cholesterol, so once it’s damaged, you can’t repair it without cholesterol. Lipophilic statins traverse the blood-brain barrier, reducing your ability to recover from damaged myelin. So statins are not causative, but they definitely won’t help you. Address the fact that cholesterol is not the cause for poor health, but high blood sugar and glycation of LDL (blood cholesterol) definitely is. Glycated (damaged) LDL is what’s causing systemic damage since once it attaches to tissue, it cannot be removed, creating lasting, chronic, and cumulative damage.

I was diagnosed by having ecstatic seizures, an atheist, I suspect there is some truth to Geschwinds syndrome. theres a grandiosity we/I feel, I ponder related to the macroscopia, to see every pore in a face in contrast in fits is akin to seeing the human experience & society in such a similarly heightened way. it is a curse and blessing. As Dostoevsky noted we are truly blessed to experience these moments of life's grandeur and ecstacy, where time stands still for eternity. Call it god, enlightenment , pathologize it, to experience the pure nexus of complexity ( as i interpret it this way via IIT & shannon) it makes no difference. yes we face stigma but its a blessing. We need the liver to make the healthy cholesterol in order to have normal function of the brain and normal hormone production. Health care system is all about money business. They want to make you more sick so they can make more money. Please stay away from STATINS. There are many home remedies and foods you can eat to remove the plaque from your arteries. Eats healthy fats, walks every day, stay hydrated and eat healthy. Do not consume sugar and reduce carbs from your diet. Fasting will also help in removing the plaque and lowering BP and cholesterol. For me, it was absolutely disastrous. There was an effect in there that I loved, notably when playing or listening to music. But it also worsened feelings of anxiety and even panic. My solution was not to reduce, but to add 'liquid courage' (ie alcohol) to the equation. Over time the amount I used increased, which led to the state where I felt bad when I used it, and bad when I didn't. I struggled with that for a full 50 years.

It was a bit odd how you framed the whole argument how diets weren't looked at... until the last study which did... where everyone who ingested less erythritol than a single pint of ice cream showed increased clotting for days. While this definitely needs more study, the industry's reaction to this being nothing seems very flippant.
