Good podcast. I do enjoy the movie talk, too, lol. Best part is always gonna be when y'all dunk on Retro out of nowhere, though 😂
@@linx3289 We don't dunk on him! We just fill you in on some of his opinions that have changed since the last time he was on... Lol
Mario 1/3, Original Star Fox, Sin & Punishment. Final Fantasy VI & Mario kart 64 are my games I can always go back to.
I've always been a Trekkie, Star Wars is cool, but I always so Star Wars is busy war, and Star Trek was just more Atmospheric exploration. The og show has such a charm snd retro vibe, next gen is by far my favorite, it has some of the most intelligent writing and tear jerking episodes. Those calm space vibes are just great to relax to.
Looks great 👍
Wonderful and clean setup! In my opinion you spent money on quality components which is worth it. I also like the carpet choice, do mind sharing where you purchased from? Is it available at one of the big box stores? Thanks in advance!
@@GT-nn2xh Hey thanks! I got the carpet from a local Carpet One store, but I just Google searched the brand and it doesn't seem like that specific carpet is available anymore... But if you have a Carpet One near you then it wouldn't hurt to stop in there and ask. It is called "Five Points by Resista 3.0" and the color is "Council".
48:11 I'm not sure if you guys noticed the 2 people standing on the giant Wii Balance Board next to the people holding the Wiimote
@@thetrue124 I definitely did not notice that!
Well done
Thank you! I'm very happy with how it all turned out!
To fix the buzz or whistle in the sub, i recommend opening the box and resoldiering the ground connections. Also, check to the ground to the power outlet.
@@KISSTHECLOWN1 Thanks for the suggestion, but putting some sound absorption in front of the front subs completely solved the issue for me. The slight buzzing/whistling sound was barely audible during super quiet scenes in movies, so it didn't take much to block that from hitting my ear. : )
Also your takes on gaming and media in general I basically fall in line with man. It sucks you get labelled shit sometimes though but eh.
If you can do 11PM GMT I could jump on for a couple hours and chat. Been watching at least since 2014.
I don't know why, Juice, but your audio comes across so much lower than everyone else's. I have to turn it up all the way to hear you, and then everyone else sounds like they're yelling in my ear 😅
Love the theater man you’ve done an excellent job. The next thing I would do is pull out the overheads and replace them with Focal’s. I’m sure it will create a more immersive experience.
@@twistacatz Thanks for the compliment, but there is no way I would spend $2,000 to swap out my height channel speakers! For one, those in-ceiling Polks sound really good. For two, I didn't even notice a difference when I swapped out my Polk side surrounds for Focal speakers, so I would expect even less of a difference for the height channels. And thirdly, about 90% of movies that have an Atmos mix only use the height channels for ambient sounds like rain and wind, so Even if the Focals did sound better, it wouldn't make much of a difference IMO. Also, I think there is some major placebo effect going on for people who swear that having all the same brand speakers makes a huge difference... Something I'm going to make a video on at some point.
@@TerminatorJuice I must respectfully disagree with you. When you mention $2000, I assume you’re referring to the Focal ICA6 at its MSRP. However, I’ve seen them sold for under that, so you might be able to get them for $1600 or less. Given the overall investment and countless hours spent on your theater, spending a bit more on these speakers seems entirely justified to me. It’s worth noting that side surrounds are among the least-used speakers, even less so than height channels. However, I wouldn’t base my investment decisions on how often a speaker is used. Whether the sound is ambient or direct, with 3D audio, I want every element to sound as good as possible. Is the upgrade worth it? That’s a personal decision, but I believe it’s a significant oversight not to prioritize this. Personally, I would never purchase all speakers from the same family for the bed layer and then skimp on the height speakers. Timbre matching all your speakers will always result in a more cohesive soundstage-that’s a fact. At this stage of your theater journey, I’d focus on making it the best it can be, starting with upgrading those height speakers.
@@twistacatz Again, I have to completely disagree with you on that. Thanks for the comment tho!
crazy i built my 155in 16/9 at screen for $400 and the masking for $50 more crazy how they charge so much mine came from carles years ago
Yeah, I forgot to mention that doing a DIY screen can save a lot of money as well. But I know there are a ton of guys who don't have any carpentry skills and/or have the tools to do stuff themselves, so I think the Silver Ticket brand is the best option for a budget screen.... Honestly the quality and performance of their screens are so good that It makes the high-end screen companies look kind of bad in comparison. But since I had the funds, I wanted to support a US based company, and also take advantage of their magnetic masking panels! 😁
I have one like this and I use it to project to the ceiling when lying in bed. Great fun
the projector is very bright
nice room, very clean
Thank you! A clean room without seeing the speakers is what I was going for! One of my big pet peeves is when I see rooms where dude's put things in the room that just distract from the movie watching experience. To each their own, tho. : )
Great 👍
Thank you 👍
You have done an incredible job in such a small space. Looks like at least $50k. Well done. How does mixing a ported sub with sealed subs work?
@@tom6363 Why thank you! : ) And you're the first person to point out how small my room is... Especially my ceiling height! I used to fantasize about what it would be like to have a larger room with a tall ceiling, but I'm so happy with my room now, that I don't think about that much anymore.
I had no issues at all mixing a ported sub with the 2 sealed subs... I just followed Brad's guide on YT(The Home Theater Gamer) and it worked out great!
i think your confused. on splatoon you could use gyro for both left and right and up and down. the stick couls only move left and rigfht. so you had to rely on the gyro to look up and down. atleast in splatoon 2 and 3 it works that way. maybe splatoon 1 did it like you said. are you familiar with flick stick? that is kind of based of how splatoon does gyro and stick aiming. the right stick just modifies the direction you are facing. so you can no longer look up and donw with the stick. and you need to rely on the gyro for up and down aiming. it sort of behaves like a twin stick shooter. jibbsmart is the guy who created flickstick and het first helped on implementing it in fortnite. now you can use steam and rewasd to get flick stick in every pc game. and ofcourse the program that jibb wrote for gyro remapping called jsm (joyshock mapper) i believe.
Great setup. I'm curious why you didn't go with a 2 35:1 (or similar) AT screen across the entire front wall though if you're a movie fan? Would have bumped up the immersion factor a notch. Does the projector have lens memory? Anyway, nice work!
@@danm203 Thanks! And to answer your question... I had a 2.35 screen for about a year and a half before I switched back to 16x9, because I wanted that extra 14.5" of height for all the IMAX enhanced and 1.85:1 movies that I own. The new screen is 1/2" wider and 14.5" taller than my old scope screen, which means that I gained a massive amount of immersion for a lot of content, and didn't lose anything for scope content. And before you say anything, I know I could have had a 5" wider scope screen in my room... but I chose 14.5" of additional height over 5" of additional width, and I have ZERO regrets about it! Haha
Congrats on your theatre room. You have done a fine job with everything. One thing about this passion for home theatre is that it can be a satisfying hobby. Well at least till you get the upgrade bug. Well done.
Thank you! I don't expect to get "upgrade fever" for at least 10 years, now that my room is complete. : )
Great video, Juice! That price is genuinely great! I would have thought it's higher by how impressive it is! I look forward to helping you build my future theater room haha!
@@GamingWithMe Thanks man! And I would love to build a Home Theater for you someday! Hopefully before I'm in my '50s tho! Lol
The home theater design is fantastic! Very carefully explained, I think you need a universal remote control in your home theater which can control 50 devices at the same time, would you be interested in seeing our remote control?
@@sofabaton Thanks, but I definitely don't need a universal remote control, because the Yamaha remote allows me to program scenes that work a lot like the "activities" on a Harmony remote, so I only use the JVC remote to turn on the projector, and then the Yamaha remote does everything else.
Unless you're asking me if I'd like to do a review of your remote... In that case, I might be interested, but I would be very honest with my opinions on it.
@@TerminatorJuice Cool, you set it up so well!
Thanks for suggesting to watch this video. Makes more sense now. What is the thickness of the acoustic foam pieces?
They play old episodes of electric playground on Saturday’s on their CZcams channel.
Hi, my name is Brad, I have a sofa with massage and reclining function coming soon, do you want to cooperate on a video with me?
Your room actually looks (and probably functions) a lot more expensive than the total pricetag you say at the end, so you did a great job. Over time, the upgrades add up, and you decide what you do and dont want to skimp on. Your room is pretty modest, and a reasonable total cost given everything. My room probably comes to about half the cost of yours, but i have smaller room with no renovations, etc. But i can definately understand why you did the upgrades etc.
@@Chris-hr2uj I appreciate the comment, man!
Nice room Very smart , you spent your money where it matters
@@dempsey3 Hey thanks, I appreciate it! I didn't mention this in the video but I don't like to waste money on things that just offer up "convenience", or things that are "showy" and don't add anything to the movie watching experience. I'll probably make a video on that topic at some point, but I know it could possibly offend some people... Lol
@@TerminatorJuice i agree , it doesn’t matter what you post , it will offend someone ( who cares. ) Post it
You have a great room
@@michaelnagy298 Hey thanks! And I agree! ; )
Nice room. I would do a DIY frame with Seymour's material 100x over before I opted for Silver Ticket. Seymour will sell you just the XD or UF material raw to add to your frame, much higher quality than the Silver Ticket stuff. I have the Seymour Proscenium screen with motorized masking, also not cheap, but it's a great effect. Lots of DIY solutions for adding masking to a DIY frame.
@@ballstadt Good point about buying the material and building a frame, but after having two different silver ticket screens and now the Seymour, I can honestly say there's not that much of a difference in image quality. And the silver ticket comes with a high quality aluminum frame that is wrapped in velvet, so I still say that is the best budget option. But that's just my opinion. : )
@@TerminatorJuice The Seymour materials have a near-flat effect on the audio frequency range, versus larger variances on the Silver Ticket materials, requiring more EQ to correct for the screen. However, any theater is a great theater, use what you want, what you have access to and what is in your budget and just enjoy. Great job on your room, love the DIY, the construction elements like your sidewall pillars, and your equipment selection. Those Focal speakers will be fantastic for you, and JVC has the most film like image of the projectors in that price range. You've built a great room there.
@@ballstadt Honestly, I had to bump up the level of my LCR speakers 1db more with the center stage XD, than I did with the silver ticket woven material... But either way, depending on a person's budget I would recommend both of the brands, because I think both are excellent.
Great video...thanks for sharing all of the details on this I love your theater room. Still one of my favorite that I've seen
Thanks Matt!
Awsome video
@@triplerinse thanks man!
Focal is not an upgrade you ever have to apologize for. It is easily 4-5X the speaker. This just makes sense. Great job putting this together. Your willingness to do some things on your own is the largest cost savings.
I wouldn't say the focal in-walls were three times better than the Polk ones I had, but they definitely are better... But unfortunately when I put them in my wall I had a pretty big spike around 80Hz that I had to EQ out in order to get them to sound good enough to be worth keeping. And as far as doing everything myself, I wish I would have mentioned that in the video because I talked to Don who's done a lot of podcasts with Shane Lee and audioholics, and he said he would charge at least $50,000 to do my room.
@@TerminatorJuice The labor alone doubles the cost of any room. So that makes a TON of sense. In light of inflation , I would put that number much higher. Plus the deals you grabbed wouldn't happen with most dealers. A great theater is a "walk", not a "run", unless you just have money to burn. Personally, I only care for the higher end of Polk, the Focal's are detailed and accurate. At lower listening levels it may just double your Polks, but with amplification of 200 watts or more, you would see a greater disparity. Word to the wise... NEVER let someone hook up an amp to your speakers, it is one expensive journey after that! The benefit is too great to get out of your head. *(But if you did... the used Outlaw 7X200w is crazy cheap at $1k for 7 channels.)
@@TerminatorJuice Wow. This makes your theater even more impressive.
@@tkcdacmy side and back surrounds are about 5 ft from my ear, and my height channels are around 4 ft, so 200w is absolutely unnecessary for speakers with a 91db sensitivity. That's why I am only considering getting a separate amp for my LCR since they are 11'ft away and behind my screen.
Love your theater journey, that's what makes it a hobby.
@@viru4409 Honestly, I love the results WAY MORE than the journey! Now I can just focus on other parts of my house and enjoy my home theater without having to worry about doing any more major work to it... 😁
Did you use a black backing cloth for the seymour screen?
@@premshashi Yes, but I don't buy it from Seymour because it was $300 and I wasn't a big fan of the material... I went with some black speaker grill fabric from Jo-Ann fabrics, which cost me $20, and then bought a $25 grommet tool from Amazon,. and it worked out great.
@@TerminatorJuiceDo you think the black cloth is necessary and does it reduce the sound from the speakers since now sound has to go thru 2 materials.
@@premshashi I didn't test it myself without the black cloth, but since my focal speakers have shiny silver tweeters and tan woofers, I didn't have a choice... Also, I've heard from other people that it makes a significant difference to the contrast, so I wasn't even going to try it without. And don't worry about the impact on the audio is going to be very minimal if you use the thin material I used.
@@TerminatorJuice could you link me to the material from Jo Ann? Also, since your wall is pretty much black, in what way would it increase contrast?
@@premshashi By stopping light from going through the screen and lighting up the wall behind it. Tony from Build Montage said it was a significant difference, so I just trusted him. www.joann.com/utility-fabric-black-speaker-cloth/3514023.html
A high quality room, at a pretty reasonable price for a legit dream home theatre. The room itself is what many are still dreaming to own. Plenty to be proud of.

I like the clean look and attention to detail of your theater. I am currently renovating ours and like yours, I will be making the front area of the room darker and the rest with lighter colors as I don't want a black box. I agree that the plan and budget changes as you go through the process but it's all good as long as you don't go overboard. Thanks for sharing.
@@Carl-iw9sy Thanks for watching, and good luck with your room!
I think you did fine with the price. Space turned out great.
@@L3x4Pr0ne Thanks! It's more than I planned on spending, but definitely less than many other guys do in their rooms.
Nice. I'm glad you and Techthusiam are giving Michigan a home theater on CZcams. Glad, to see other people make magic out of a narrow theater. My theater is about 9 feet wide. I have a furnace right in the center of the basement that's keeping me from having a wider theater.
I don't have the desire to make as much YT content as Jaremy, but I'm going to try and have more consistent video output moving forward... so look forward to that! : )
Nice room tour. I told my wife let me spend $10K and I'll do diy subs and get a 7.1.4 going. I'm like $12K-13K in. Lol main drawback of my room is time for fine tuning the calibration.
Things always cost more than you plan on spending... but like I said, it isn't worth even a penny if you're not happy with the result of something you buy or build, so sometimes you just have to go above your budget to have the result you're looking for.
It really does give consoles a Mouse like experience. And coming from a Pc gamer, I absolutely love Gyro aiming. It makes me want to actually PLAY shooters on a Couch or in Bed. Splatoon, and BotW and Forbidden West were the big ones for me. Now im hooked. Steam deck, and Rog Ally have great tools built in to basically add it to any games.
Don’t let people convince you that the gyro implementation in this game is really bad. It worked great for me. There must be some strange recipe of settings these people must be using to make the gyro aiming unplayable in this game. I found it great, and this is my most recommended game for gyro newcomers.
@@Creshex8 there's no other way to play the game, in my opinion! Only stubborn people would still play with standard dual analog controls!
