    Thanks for showing these, it's very helpful :) I'm considering buying this exact deck, but I've noticed that someone on Amazon commented that this version slightly stretches out the cards to fit on a different card ratio. In this video I notice that all the coins look a bit horizontally stretched and elongated, but I can't tell if this is just the camera angle. Is there any chance you could confirm for me whether this is the case? It seems like such a strange choice, but i fit's true I'll probably go for the full sized version. Thanks!

    • @toadstooltarot
      @toadstooltarot Před 29 dny

      Now that you mention it, the coins look slightly wider than they are tall, meaning they aren't perfect circles, as if all the cards were squeezed/squashed just a tad to fit the format. I hadn't noticed it before and it doesn't really bother me personally. It seems pretty subtle, but if you're sensitive about that, you might want to pass. I have no idea how the regular sized ones are.

  • @wanderingmountainbardicpath

    I adore almost everything about this deck. As you already know, I think, I backed the special box that came with "all the things" because A.A. Milne books of Pooh were my most treasured things as a kid. I have discovered that 320 gsm is about my perfect cardstock, so this is a little thick for me, especially with the mini. BUT aside from that? I think the two creators knocked it out of the park. I have kept the extra cards in because, for me, they add to the adventures of Pooh. On top of that, the sisters who created this are awesome people.

      ok, interesting: Hierophant, 9 of Wands, 10 of Pentacles and Page of Pentacles. On first glance, it makes already a lot of sense, though I will sit a while with them and journal about. What is standing out curiously, ( I use Steampunk Tarot) is, that the curtain where the Page of pentacles is steppping out, looks a bit like it was the cape of the card reader in the 10 of Pentacles card above it, and the 9 of wands person is looking through a spyglass at the family in the 10 of pentacles. The Hierophant card seems a bit isolated from the other 3 cards. Thank you for that interesting video!

    I do like the Tea Stained RWS Robin thank you for sharing that with us. The colour pallets on both your other decks are lovely and very easy on the eye. I got to thinking, when someone adjusts colours, sizes, adds their own twist such as frame size, the tiny star on the bottom of the cards, does that still constitute the cards as bootlegged or as an alternative version of the original? As you rightly say though, it is up to the individual to judge for themselves. Enjoy your new decks and once again thank you for sharing them with us.

  • @donnareadler

    Enjoyed seeing your deck purchases as always, Robin. I’m curious what your opinion would be about something I’ve been wondering about for a while. Is it considered “wrong” to buy bootleg copies of decks that are out of print, unlikely to ever come back into print, and for which used copies are selling for exorbitant prices? Am I right in thinking that the creator would not receive recompense anyway for something that’s no longer in print, nor for the high priced second hand copies, so the bootlegs in these cases are not that harmful?

    • @toadstooltarot
      @toadstooltarot Před měsícem

      I think you might have just answered your own question. I think it's up to your own conscience. I'm still unsure on this. I'd have preferred my dollars went towards the creator of my deck, but if they're no longer giving me/reprinting the version of the deck I want, I might just take my cash elsewhere to fill that niche. I might still search for a legit copy of the earlier edition of the deck I bought, if I can afford a used copy. In that case also, it is the reseller making the profit, not the deck creator. They already made their share first time around. It's definitely a controversial topic. Now that I'm pretty sure I own a counterfeit copy, I will likely still use it, but will always feel a twinge of guilt when reaching for it. Like I said, it's a complicated and controversial subject.

    This was really fun to watch! I'll try that too! As for your question, if that's layering, I think everybody understands something different by that word. Personally, I would call it "decks having a conversation or discussion", while we as a reader are listening to their points, like a king listening to a discussion of his 2 advisers, and then it is for us to decide how we process the information and make up our own mind, and decisions, considering also the point of views of the 2 advisers. When I am "layering" cards, I do it usually like this: I pull a card that gives me a "realm" (for example area of life, or a chakra, or an emotional state etc.), and a second card for "what's going on" in the sense, that I do think the "realms"are not static, but always moving, flowing, changing, swirling..... and the second card is giving details on what is moving this, or what is the force at work that is brewing together there or impacting it or impa ting my situation etc (this might sound a bit nebulous, but with a clear question in mind, those aspects can be adapted and worded more specific and clear obviously). Another thing I do, that I consider layering, is, I pull a row (2- 7 cards) from Marseille minors, and read the story in as many ways possible (from left, right, mirroring etc.), then I pull 1 major for each minor and lay it in a second row, and those give me something like characterisation, role, motivation, the potential, atmosphere, image of self or inherent potential lessons of the attached card in the upper row. Then I retell the story in the new light, which can be very surprising and unlocking at times.

    too bad the black and full color is sold out; a textured deck is interesting to me, but i'm unsure about slippery plastic and a bad smell ! i've had things which i'd ordered online have an overwhelming and sharp smell, and i think it comes from whatever ink they use in printing. your idea to air them out is a good one. although i wonder what the production must be like with all that plastic and ink ! but i like the concept as darker background brings the foreground into focus. it might be a nice deck to use the RWS for "shadow" work :) the green gold deck is VERY flashy ! and the deck box is a better deal than the basic plastic with the first one . i imagine it would be a nice deck to use for a party or somewhere with low lighting. i'd not heard of or seen textured cards like these before. thanks for the video

    Thank you for showing all the Minor Arcana and linking the images to the Major Arcana. Sellers of these decks are only have pics of a few Major Arcana cards. If you are a Tarot enthusiast, you need at least 1 of all of the following patterns: Sola Busca, Oswald Wirth, Rider Waite, Thoth, Marseille, Golden Dawn, and Michiate (have I missed any?). There are hundreds of Rider Waite variants, about 10 Marseille variants, but few of the others. The Universal Wirth Tarot (also by Lo Scarabeo) is a prettier, modern version; some will prefer it, while otehrs might like the more antique feeling of the Symbolic Wirth deck. Up to you. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law".
