There's also the figure 8 Musky trick that's being recognized as working for Largemouth now. Oliver Ngy has been doing it for a couple years. But there's a Japanese CZcamsr that has had his figure 8 videos go viral. He'll figure 8 non-stop for 5-10 minutes.

Lol! They must have followed his glidebait to the boat. There's a story about a co angler doing well literally dangling a large swimbait under the boat and catching lunkers. The boater was throwing a large glide bait and watching them follow his lure in, but didn't realize they were staying under the boat. It was one of Byron Velvick's stories. He said the co angler was so cooperative and respectable, he was intentionally trying not to catch fish. So he stopped dangling the large swimbait under the boat after the second fish.

However, in my experience, you have to change out mono more bc it stretches. I had a day that I was throwing a big bait and it (K9) snapped off twice because it was line (izorline) that I had used for weeks.

As a hobbyist lure maker, I enjoy watching videos like this and learning from them. I made 11 swimbaits and 1 glidebait for family members over the past few weeks and shoot to make them slow sinkers. Only recently have I seen lures with a cavity for adding/removing weight. I find this very interesting and will have to give it a go. Thank you for sharing information.

Big large mouth watch my bait come up on it and over it and it near turned upside-down watching my bait go over it but was not committing so I popped it and the bass righted it self and charged and ate my bait so fast it blew my mind, but having said that the fish was not following it my bait come up on the fish , so maybe that's when it works well, also was not a 180 turn more of a 90 swoop

Have had way more luck with my glide chopping it away from the fish, but never a turn around. Doesnt look natural. Bait will often move in 45 degree or 90 degree turns to inspect something or flee.

Try going to a tropical place and try to catch a grouper or a giant saltwater fish on it

Lead wire is illegal

Sometimes a snap can affect the action of a bait too. If that ever happens, it helps to counter that extra front weight with a suspend dot.

Caught a bunch of fish today on a glide I made doing this same technique. So thrilling when they react to it.

I suppose line type will also play a factor here, since copoly is typically more supple that fluorocarbon. I often tie direct with copoly on glides and feel like I get great action from the baits, especially with reel inputs as opposed to rod inputs.

IMO, this isn’t worded very well. “Takes a ton of user input” kind of makes it sound like it takes a lot from the angler to make it work right and not that the bait is super responsive to user input.

Are you just chunkin and winding most the time or is all your action coming from the reel? I wanna get into the big baits a little but don’t know where to start with gaining some confidence in it thinkin about pickin one of these ogs up

Its great you take the time to explain some design details of your baits. I found your channel and I checking all the vids, they are great. In this case, I dont think you have more mass. If the weight the same, the mass is equal. What you have is the center of gravity more distribuited in the bottom of the bait, which stabilizes the bait better. Great baits, great videos!!!

Detailed baits work in clear and dirty water so it makes sense to buy or paint them. Also it has been scientifically proven that a bass’ eyes get better as they age and there is no sign that it stops getting better. So the best thing for trophy bass is to have detail and realism.
