Ship in a Bottle tool demonstration
To assemble my ship in a bottle, I used the tools shown in this video. These tools were my design.
The ship modeled here is the W. H. Dimond. It was a West Coast merchant ship that was launched in 1881.

This video shows the placing of the foremast on my ship in a bottle. I'm using a tool I designed for this purpose. At the beginning of the video, the mast is already attached to the tool and supported upright. (No audio.)

For my ship-in-a bottle project, I made this tool for controlling the orientation of objects inside a bottle. Demonstrated here is the use of heavy paper attached to it as a gauge to determine the clearance dimension between the wood strip that the ship will mount to and the bottle side. I plan on using this tool for inserting the ship's masts when the time comes and I'll probably post a video ...
This is the kind of hobby when you lived with a lot people you sit at corner and do your own thing!!!!🔴🤫🫢

Just starting the hobby and could do with more insight, the tooling aspect really helped me out.😅
Cut the bottom of the bottle off.. put in model ship.. mastery of two part epoxy and discreet cutting placement can yield interesting results.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I have the tool. It would be accurate to say that all of the tools used to put ships in bottles are made by the crafters so they are unique.
