    The only thing that's going to change the ratio during operation is if the rocker flexes or the fulcrum shifts.

    You should have put a 1.8 on the exhaust as well because the exhaust on those particular heads needed help. That's why you have split duration cams with more on the exhaust side as much as 14 degrees in extreme cases.

    Was really glad to hear this story David and am sorry i can't add more than one 'like' to this and no I haven't seen any of your previous channel videos but I am loving every single thing in every video you do, my favourite videos you do is on lightening rotating parts cause it free acceleration with out having more power. I drive rally cars and dirt bikes and lightening something helps, acceleration, braking and turning, horsepower doesn't do that 😅 good to hear your life experiences again and hope you keep it up as long as you can, thanks for all the knowledge cause it keeps my mind off suicide 😀

    ok i agree with the formula, but are you referring to lobe seperation angle , not centerline of the intake lobe. LSA IS GROUND INTO THE CAM....WHILE centerline can be degreed to where you want it .. thanks

    Are you the same David vizard of Mini Cooper fame, I bought your mini book years ago forgot the name,but I remwmber the lotos engine on a mini gearbox, I even moved my clocks t o put a 45 Weber on my mini 1275,reborded it out to 1330 if I remember correctly but the battery box in the dash good old days building my 1275 gt clubman .i remember now how to modify mini,by David Vizard ,definitely a new subscriber,

    I´m just pulling this out of my ass, but I think why the flow reverses on the underside of bends in exhaust ports might be, that the exhaust gas flow "prefers" to go round the outer side of the bend and creates turbulance and a lower pressure on the inside of the bend, that reverses the flow and sucks gas back into the engine (like liquid would, gas is only less dense liquid). I have no proof for any of this, just thinking xD

    One really big improvement that I made was fitting an exhaust manifold with equal length headers - all my cars revved so much quicker after that. I've seen adverts for Vortex exhaust silencers but haven't seen any real world before and after power figures - what is your take on this?

    OMG - I just came across this by chance - you sir are an absolute legend! It was your magazine articles and books that got me into engine tuning. After modifying my engine and pulling up at some traffic lights a guy pulled up next to me and said "What engine have you got in that car? It goes like sh*t off a shovel!".

    I have a Mallory water injector on my 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 with 10.5:1 compression ratio (factory), Hooker headers, and Edlebrock single 4 barrel intake manifold, and 3.55:1 rear gears (posi). I put it on to eliminate pinging after 1/4 throttle. It worked for that, but the power was way down. I did not want to mess with the timing or car jetting for fear of running out of water while out on the road. This car outran a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner with 3.91:1 gears with posi and comparable dual carburetion and headers that turned 12.17 the following Saturday at Orange County Raceway. Any suggestions?
