MASTERING CLUTTERING SPEECH DISORDER? SEE WHAT COACHING FROM A FELLOW CLUTTERER CAN OFFER YOU!
People regularly ask me the question whether speech disorder cluttering can be cured. After all, the consequences of cluttering can be severe, as I know from personal experience.
Getting rid of the cluttering completely is a challenge for most cluttering speakers. But does that mean you can't do anything about it? Not at all! There definitely are ways to reduce the cluttering effectively. So that it has less impact on your work, relationships and personal happiness. That I can tell from experience, too!
As an expert by experience I know how difficult it can be to find the right therapy. But I learned to manage the cluttering for the most part. Today, I coach people from all over the world on how to master their cluttered speech. Want to know what coaching from Too Fast For Words entails? I just found out I had this problem when listening to my conversation that I had before. So there is a language exchange app that can record my speech. And give me also a transcript so I can evaluate my speech. I realize how bad my speech is. I even get a headache when I listen to my own recording. It's so irregular. I wonder how other people can understand me when I speak.

    Trying to slow down ever since school and graduated now. I can manage for particular time and when someone disturb that flow like asking question or I am listening them, 80% first word out of mouth is glitched repeated weirdly I can't understand myself and have repeat with embarrassment. it goes on in all situations and worsen in anxiety, happiness, any time it shouldn't happen. And people don't understand they just get offended or humilite by saying " oh you aren't just confident enough, go learn to speak first and what not" it has taken so much of my life, academic performances , first impressions in high school , university, giving away my credits to someone else just because they say " no you can't do it" After 18 years if education I can't move now further without speech therapy. • @ithk9496
      @ithk9496 Před 5 měsíci

      I'm not sure what is normal but from experience i'd say that it probably affects the way we type or write. But writing is great because you can stop and think about the sentence until you settle on it and you can also correct and polish it as much as you want. For example, when i'm writing a coursework i would start a sentence then realise what the other part of the sentence should say and rearange the 1st part of it then type out the 2nd part and fix the 1st part again and then maybe add the 3rd bit but now the 2nd part would do better at the start of the sentence so i rearange it all again. I didn't have to fix the sentence i just wrote so that's an achievement but i did spend 2-3 minutes typing, fixing, and rereading this one to make sure it makes sense :D

      For me personally, it does affect the *how* of my writing (I have already backspaced a whole paragraph and started from scratch, and rephrase my sentences constantly), but it doesn't have a huge effect on the end product. Maybe I write with more tangents than most people when I'm writing casually, and maybe I tend more towards run-on sentences, but it's *nothing* compared to how I speak. If anything, the fact that I'm articulate in writing makes speaking that much more frustrating. I know I'm capable of phrasing things so that I'm saying what I mean, I just suddenly lose that the instant I have to speak instead of write.

  • @SongBillong

    Will this diagnostic tool take into account accents? That probably seems like a bit of a strange question, but I am trying to work out how much of an impact my accent has on my suspected cluttering (I am not diagnosed but have been told that I likely clutter). I come from Bristol in the south-west of England, where many people talk quite quickly and often slur their words somewhat. Would that be taken into account in a diagnosis?

    • @toofastforwords
      @toofastforwords Před 8 měsíci

      That's an interesting question: no, accents are not taken into account and that isn't necessary either, that is to say: when you look at it technically. It is just a matter of measuring the speech. But of course, people from that area will probably better able to follow what you're saying
