Sinclair C5's on the Felixstowe Run 2023 | ft. Gas Turbine C5
18 Sinclair C5s hit the streets of Ipswich on the annual road run to Felixstowe, a route of 13 miles. This year we had a couple of special C5s in attendance - a gas turbine powered C5, and an original Team Lotus (black JPS branded) Sinclair C5 which was used by Elio de Angelis in the pits at Silverstone in 1985.
This annual event is organised by the Ipswich Transport Museum. Entries are open from the New Year, and the Sinclair C5s organise themselves via the "Sinclair C5 Owners" Facebook forum.

Technics 1210 repair | blowing fuses & target light replacement

In this video I repair a Technics SL1210 turntable. This one was brought to the workshop in a non-working state as it was blowing fuses. The fault was repaired, along with the target light (stylus illuminator) which was also faulty. I replace it with an LED lamp. Recorded March 2021.
JVC CRT monitor repair pt. 2 - film replacement

Part 2 of my repair of a JVC CRT monitor. This monitor originally had a film stuck to the CRT tube face which was damaged when I bought it. As the damage was quite distracting, I removed the film. It is a Cotterless Crank Removal Tool. Can’t remember where I got mine try Halfords or Amazon.

When I first visited Britain in 1985 I saw lots of these around London. I thought they were the most futuristic looking vehicles.

If you email me via my website I will send you the logo. Any printer that can print on Foamex board can print it. The foamex was cut to size by the printer then I velcro’d it onto two battons that are screwed to the wall.

A third choice is to buy a pico zx board and install in the speccy case, with a small modification to allow for the vga out.

I saw a C5 on the road in Tewkesbury last week. I hadn’t seen one for nearly 40 years, and one appears in my home town.

@retroworkshop Very good video! I have exactly the same issue. Found a DT-V1910CG but the seller damaged the coating when he tried to clean it before the sale… I like the tint you have ended up with. Looks pretty good to Me. Could You please tell Me which exactly tint You used it. I guess the original coating of the DT-Vs is always the same, so whatever tint you used should be good for Mine too. At least that’s my guess :) Also do You have by any chance the dimensions (is yours a 19“?) I would like to get pre cut tints
Hello, I have a 17 inch model. In this video I fitted 50pc light smoke tint from window-tint.co.uk/ Since I made this video, I have replaced film on other monitors and instead used the "carbon" variant from this same site. This is a close match and doesn't have the slightly off white light transfer (ever so slightly yellow). This film is much thinner and easy to damage. But then the original film is easy enough to damage.

Yes I compared them and the carbon is better (more neutral and matches the original better). Thanks, Dave.
This process can be very fiddly. Some monitors you get it right first time, others it takes five goes to get it right without little air bubbles or imperfections. Buy lots of extra film! :)

Hello, Retroleum.co.uk is where I bought the DC to DC convertor (it is their MuRata Switch Mode 5v Regulator (replaces 7805)). They also sell the DC connector you want (Replacement 2.1mm DC Power Socket).

Ebay. No idea how well it will match the original in terms of brightness, or colour temperature. You could of course buy two, and replace both so they match.

I know this is a few years old, but hint for cleaning up anything with gaffa marks, or sticky residue is eucalyptus oil. It cuts through so many of these things.

Can’t help with that I’m afraid. You’d need a controller of some little circuit to covert an analogue throttle to on on/ off relay.
I bought a regular trinitron monitor, any idea if they have a screen protector that can be removed as well?
Depends on the model. Probably not for a domestic tv. Some high end BVM monitors had em too. Some pc monitors have a coating on the glass which if cleaned or scratched, you can remove the coating with alcohol to leave the normal glass. If the glass itself is scratched nothing you can do.

Maybe stack together a large pack of Lithium Polymer batteries used for RC airplanes etc... and you might be able to double or even triple your mileage...
I’ve recently bought a 35AH LiFePo battery and it does about 16 miles and weighs next to nothing. A bit pricey, mind you.

Hello and thank you so much for your series on this, watched both videos and they are amazing, subscribed! I wondered if you could help me make a decision.... My monitor came with the antireflective coating removed from the film, and I like the brightness just as it is, but I know you removed your film with the antireflective coating. My question - if I were to remove the film, would it now be lighter still? Or did the darkness come from the antireflective coating and not also the film? Thank you for any advice here as I am wondering what to do next and if I need the tint stage.
The antireflective coating does not contribute to the darkness. It is the film itself that has the tint. If your film isn’t damaged leave it on.

The front wheel drive with disc brake looked interesting
Disc brakes do give much better performance. I’ve now got one on the back wheel.
