There are different infantries within the army as well: mechanized, light, and airborne. There’s a difference between all three. I spent about half my career in the 82nd Airborne. Not counting the Rangers, there are only three airborne infantry brigades in the army. Well, there might still be a battalion in Alaska. Having been around some Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan I can say that they definitely weren’t POGs, but they’re still LEGs. So, slightly less offensive.

Everyone knows about the seals (Devgru) and Delta (JSOC) under SOCOM but nobody knows ANYTHING about RRC. Even when i was in the Rangers we didnt even know about their unit. Just dudes with long hair and beards that looked like afghans but never in ACUs. They where the first I saw in multicam before even delta picked it up and had so many resources, and could collect all signal traffic, blend in with locals and even that scene in zero dark 30 could buy people lambos for Intel. Super high tier stuff super classified. I always thought they were just contractors on base until i saw them in Afghanistan when we had to pick them up after a halo jump they did. They work close with the CIA and provided the intel that tracked bin laden with the agency and WHERE on the team that raided his compound. I would say they ARE USAs last best kept teir 1 secret.

Canada has a Tier 1 unit, you sure about that.. j/k. Some fun facts about our canucklehead military. When they were first deployed into Afganistan, they didn't have desert fatigues, they only had the dark green forest fatigues, imagine how they stood out like sore thumbs. Also because they were sent initially as a peace keeping ie NATO force, they were ordered not to fire unless fired upon. In addition they didn't have enough ammo, both desert fatigues and ammo were supplied by the US.
