    Does Euro cars and JDM and Other cars still consider Touge Race? Some says it’s just JDM but idk I feel like it should be everyone cars depending how the driver drive

      JDM cars are definitely more popular. But European, American and other cars definitely are good as well. I started off with a Japanese car and now I drive a Euro car. Skill matters more in my opinion

      @@GarageTouge they are just doing their typical youtuber stuff and acting tough basically. Blocked faster people and didn’t let them pass while claiming they themselves are fast (but irl they slow as shit). Also, mountain racing is just a tricky subject to approach since you’re basically exposing the road to newcomers and cops and locals would typically want neither of those. If you are actually fast (like revlox), yea no one would dare to shit talk, but if you’re slow but keep saying touge touge touge all day like you the shit, it’s hard not to hate you. We just don’t like disingenuous people.

    this covers almost none of the actual history of touge. 90% of the footage you used is from hot version and modern videos. nothing against you personally but my god im tired of misinformation on this.

    • @GarageTouge
      @GarageTouge Před 2 měsíci

      This is a brief overview of the history and key points in less than 10 minutes of something that spans a long period of time 40+ years in Japan. To remind you the first consumer video camcorder came out in the 80s. There is footage from back then yes, but its by no means plentiful or easy to get good quality clips for long videos in comparisson to modern footage. Not everyone was recording with Go-Pros as we do today. Could I have used more of the footage that exists? Sure I deifinitely could have, but I'm also thinking about the watchability of the whole video. The resolution and aspect ratio of those old videos are not the best. So it was a style choice to not make the whole video in a 4:3 aspect ratio under 480p resolution for almost 10 minutes. Showcasing the history also means including things from past 2010-Present too. Just because its not in the 80s or 90s does not mean it's not apart of the history. It's asinine to have that outlook on the modern part of touge. The modern videos, influencers and shows coupled with the lore and videos from the 80s and 90s is what is going to get people into this hobby or whatever you want to label it as. Gatekeeping it to only the past is gonna kill it off and turn people away. As for Hot Version/ Best Motoring it was started in 1987 so it is ingrained in the history whether you want to awknowledge that or not. It's not just modern it's the past too. It was also a big part of a lot of people's first introduction to touge pre-dating CZcams. The history pre-internet is hard to piece together as it is mostly word-of-mouth he said she said kind of thing. Driving on the touge over the speed limit is illegal and so is racing. So it's not going to have perfect documentation and we have to do the best that we can with the information we can get a hold of and write it down. It's by no means a full-length video essay or docuseries. It was the first time I've made a video like this and I know it's not perfect in the production or the full length history. I'd like to do a full-length video essay or docuseries to get into the real fine details of the history when I can get ahold of enough information and first hand accounts. But I'm not there yet and this channel will be an ongoing touge encylopedia of the information in one place. If you think I'm missing key points I'd like to hear them. Also feel free to make your own videos as well if you'd like to document what you've learned it helps out the community. Thanks for the support!

      @@GarageTouge if you need any real info in the future, feel free to reach out. ive been researching this for over a decade. there is just no point to title a video "the history of touge" and then barely say anything on the origins and history. these sorts of videos are why kids still think it was hot version, drift tengoku, initial d and best motoring that started the craze. I hope to see a revised version later

    • @GarageTouge
      @GarageTouge Před 2 měsíci

      @@ef5supercell I'd be glad to reach out and talk about it. I do find it a little insulting that you would say I can't title it a history video. Because it's not barely any information it's a brief overview with key information. If the video was about any other historical topic it would still be seen as such even though it wouldn't be a full length explanation. Those things you mentioned didn't start the craze but were produced because of it and definitely fueled the craze. You definitely will see one in the future.

      @@GarageTouge i have magazines dating back to 1984 that talk about drifting, the earliest magazine i have talking about touge culture (both drift and grip) dates back to 1985. Initial D was an exaggeration. touge racing barely was a thing. it was cat & mouse battles and that was about it. it wasn't until the later 90s that people started taking the racing seriously. Initial D took inspiration from the fact touge culture was popular, but it's incorrect to say it was anything remotely accurate. the craze has been around long before any piece of media such as anime, movies, shows, or proper vhs tapes had something to chime in on. this is more-so a video explaining the boom of touge culture on the internet, versus the history of touge. im sorry to insult you directly but as you can imagine, im tired of the same narrative being pushed, it makes people just getting into this niche basically set off on the wrong foot right away. by the time Za Touge came out in '87, drifting was already popular. That tape is what kicked off drifting properly. Initial D's influence was negligible in comparison. i understand you said "drifting doesnt equal touge" whatever that means, but it goes hand-in-hand. it was common to see FF, FR, AWD cars run alongside bikes. it was common to see people drifting for fun right infront of a few cars that were grip running, etc. the whole "initial d racing" crap wasn't really a thing

  • @ef5supercell
    @ef5supercell Před 2 měsíci

    wow this video is comically misinformed and incorrect. initial d came out YEARS after the peak of touge culture. it had zero affect on the popularity of drifting and pass racing.

    • @GarageTouge
      @GarageTouge Před 2 měsíci

      I disagree, as I've stated some of my other points in my other reply on another one of your comments. While it's not a perfect full-length history docuseries it goes over the main points and key areas over a long period of time. I've never explicitly stated that when Initial D came out thats exactly when the peak was. There can be debates whether it's the 90s, 80s or pre 1980. I personally think it is the 1990s as stated in the video but that's just that, an opinion. Initial D whether you like it or not had a significant impact on the scene after its manga and anime release. Was it the only reason people were pass racing or drifting on the touge? No, absolutely not but it definitely boosted the popularity but wasn't the sole reason for the popularity. If you have any points for the future I'd love to hear them. Thanks for the criticism!
