Making a deep funky house track in Ableton
Video upload day! Been a while - I've been traveling, and still am, and don't have my Maschine with me. But I also put a lot of work and love in Ableton so I'll share some Ableton track build-ups while I'm traveling. Enjoy!

Great to see/hear you back!
I don’t get append come up when I right click?
You were calling patterns clips at the start. 1:10 that just makes something that’s counter intuitive even worse.
Nice ! Try That solo with I higher pitch lead sound …love your synth sound on the Ob , bass sound is perfect also
Just back from a bit of an hiatus and the first thing I went for is your channel, Peter. Your musical taste and ways around the Maschine resonate strongly with my own vibes. For ....'s sake, just keep it up; can't wait for the next one.
I learned so much in 7 and a half minutes - thank you!
The most stylish and high level video I have seen in learning Maschine. Thank you for everything! Can't wait for the next video!
Huge compliment, thanks! Got new stuff coming pretty soon!
This is a demo nothing about learning . He has taught nothing. Just shows what it can do. If you want to lern go to the sound test room. He’s the best teacher
Nice jam! Do you ever use both 707 & Maschine together? Would be great to see a video of both!
Thanks! Actually got rid of the 707 about a year after I got it. It was a fun machine but didn't inspire enough use in the long run
Append to the song! I never used it, but now I will. Thanks for creating the video!
Awesome in the real sense of the word. Surprised this doesn’t have more views.
Loving your work brother, I'm just waiting for my machine mk3 to arrive next week. Do you have any more indepth walk through how to videos for us Noobs:)? Subscribed to your channel...How could i not:)..love your work.
Thanks! The most detailed tutorial I have is on arrangement: czcams.com/video/ROZxWlYrwGM/video.html. Otherwise, the Native Instruments YT video 'How to Use Everything in Maschine MK3' is good for getting off the ground
Thanks a lot I was struggling with this
Hi my friend, im thinking of buying an Machine Mk3, could you tell me if the sounds you are using such as bass, Drums, and especially vocals are included in the software you get with it or are they custom ones you have made or purchased?
Sure, yeah a lot of what I use is samples that I bought from Splice. Often the bass / synths will be internal sounds included in the Maschine, but most of the vocals and drums come from Splice.
@PeterRobotMusic Thanks mate, I'll take a look at Splice, I'm not familiar with it.
@@maydaygoingdown5602 Splice is the place man! It's hundreds of thousands of sounds. It can take some digging but you can find anything there.
@PeterRobotMusic Thanks for the heads up my friend, I'm new to sampling, I have had an MPC ONE for a few days so just trying to figure it out. I've seen some videos on Machine Mk3 and that looks really good so thinking of getting one.
Nice!
Super dope as always!
Great video! What you mean by playing bumper lanes?
Thanks! Lol, what I meant by 'bumper lanes' is using the key signature setting that I was talking about with the pads. Where you set the key of the pads to Emin (or whatever you're in) - then the pads will only play notes that are in that key signature, thus you can't accidentally play anything out of key.
Proper James Dexter style vibe on this one. Luscious mate. Can't wait to get home and fire up my Maschine now after watching this. Just bought the Higher Place Expansion so should be fun to mess about with...
very very good , thank you for the tuto
tanks boss we learn so much with your stuff!
you make it look easy... Its not.. you are extremely talented
🙏🏻
Please don’t stop making machine content 🙏🏻 I would also love a more tutorial like video to follow along 😬😁
Should I get this if I’m 100% beginner? It seems so easy when you do it🤣
I just got a machine mk3 along with a machine jam as an absolute beginner and I can guarantee it is not that easy at is seems 😜 Takes a lot of learning to figure out all the functions… but it’s fun. 😊 You should get one
@@slothandturtle8036 do you know music theory etc..?
I think it would be a good machine to learn on. It's not easy, but there's a learning curve for every groovebox. The only thing I'd say is worth considering is if you want to try something cheaper first to get your feet wet. But you're going to have to take a decent amount of time learning whatever you get, and the Maschine is incredibly versatile, so I'd recommend it
@@PeterRobotMusic ok thank you. I saw tbat there’s also a version with the software that’s already integrated in it and no need for a computer to use it with. Although it’s expensive, do you recommend it for a beginner or should I stick with yours?
@@aidenbull_I would recommend the one I use personally. It has more processing power since the Maschine+ processor isn't as strong as a laptop usually (so I hear), so it runs faster. Also you can integrate way more tools with the MK3 in the long run since it's connected to a computer, whereas the M+ is limited to what's already on it.
Great stuff as always but let's see more of you grooving to the music. 👍
Lol, I didn't notice my reflection until I was editing the video
Great stuff!
Nice
Excelente Video
recomiendas algun curso o tutorial para los que queremos aprender a usar la maschine?
I learned in this course: www.adsrsounds.com/product/courses/maschine-mk3-complete-guide/ it was very thorough and easy to follow. There is also this free one on YT that I haven't tried: czcams.com/video/YcSle_Cypzg/video.html&
You make it look so easy. ❤ Just starting to learn how to use the mas home 🙌
Amazing bro 🤯
Quick question. How did you sidechain the pad with the kick?
So I used a Solid Bus Compressor on the pad. You turn side-chain on, then go to "side-chain input" and and select the kick drum channel. You can modify how strong the sidechain is by adjusting the gain and threshold. The other thing I do is I actually create a duplicate of the kick drum channel, bring the volume all the way down in the mixer and side chain it to that. Then I leave that channel playing all the time - that way when I take the regular kick out, the pad is still sidechained.

What an awesome maschine. Great song !
Can't believe I didn't smash that sub button earlier. For xxxx's sake, keep on making those groovy vids Peter ... viva la machina.
Mastering it
So great
You killed this bro🫡
Got mine coming in the mail today and this has me so hyped for it. Feel like I can never get Ableton to do exactly what I wanted but once I learn this machine ill be unstoppable. Great Vid and dope track
Fireeeee!
Lovely. About to go fire up my Maschine now.
Thx man! I can really progress on the maschine with your vids! I got mine for about 2 months and it is so cool to see your jobs
Cheers and thanks for the tips. Greetings from Sweden.
Loved this! You’ve literally swung me to buy one. Gonna see if any come up in Boxing Day sales! Keep them coming
Awesome!
what kind of camera do you use?
iPhone 7 lol
Making it look easy! Lots of useful tips there - thanks
Ayeeeeee 🙌🙌🙌
This is great.
Thank you for your video , helps a LOT !!
Do you bounce out each instrument as stems and do mixing and final edits in another Daw or do you get your whole arrangement done within Maschine?
For now, I do the whole arrangement in Maschine. Whenever I finish & release some of these tracks, I'll bounce out the stems to Ableton for a final mix
@@PeterRobotMusic sweet. I can get a really nice main part of a track going. & then can play with muting groups or individual pads etc to begin to lay out an arrangement but haven’t learnt how to actually arrange it all out yet via scenes, patterns, timeline... Do you post any tutorials or anything? Would love to see you go through the process from the initial main loop to an actual arrangement. Really nice couple of jams you’ve posted bud. Cheers. ;)
@@h-dawg969 Thanks man! Glad you're liking the jams. I do actually have a tutorial on arrangement in Maschine: czcams.com/video/ROZxWlYrwGM/video.html&ab_channel=PeterRobot I'm definitely thinking about making more tutorials on specific production concepts like this :)
Great job. I need to sit down and study your workflow. 🔥
Yep! Love that. Thanks
