Just went through shoulder dislocation yesterday for the first time. Didn't imagine the pain to be this wild, it took two doses of fentanyl to make me tolerate the pain. My deadass body couldn't move bcuz of the excruciating pain. I'm still worried how it can occur again, so I'm trying to be extra careful about it again

After having my damaged right bicep tendon removed and the remaining part anchored into the humerus near the bicep in February, and being advised I’d be good to go in 8 weeks ( it’s now late June), I appreciate just how complicated my issues continue to be. It’s taking longer than the open heart surgery I had to heal. This operation could force me into retirement… and that sucks.

I’m now at 11 weeks post surgery. Saw an orthopaedic surgeon within 2 days, had surgery to reattach it within 4 days. Surgery was always going to be my option; no doubt about it. I have a job requiring heavy labour as well as hobbies requiring good strength in both arms. It’s been a difficult journey since it all happened as I had a lot of pain in my shoulder due to the sling immobilisation for the first 6 weeks and now due to the rehabilitation of all my arm muscles since losing the sling. Immobilisation is terrible for your muscles and joints! I also have ongoing pain due to the irritation of my lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve during surgery. My arm function is improving daily as I’ve been diligent with a rehab protocol that’s mostly focussed on improving range of motion as well as reduce pain. I’m starting to use light weights now which is a great feeling. Im hoping to return to work in another 5 weeks but will be guided by my surgeon and physiotherapist. To anyone going through this, or about to go through this, I wish you every success. My advice is to keep your shoulder girdle as active as possible from the get go. I also recommend being diligent with protecting the repair and not risk a re rupture. Seek advice from a good Physiotherapist early and focus on getting everything moving again asap. It’s a big injury and it requires time to heal and rehab from! All the best!

We get to move around for possibly many decades in one of these amazing carbon based life forms. How little most of us know about its workings. The intricacies of its design, its capabilities are stunning, and this alone is can lead one to question whether this is the result of chance….or not.

I have a located bursa that they can no longer drain because it seems walled off. I've had it for three months after a total shoulder replacement that became infected. The Drs are moving slowly on it. They never had it tested for infection but just got back abnormal RBC too many to count (over 600) Clarity is abnormal and mostly appears to be blood vs synovial fluid. I'll be getting more aggressive with my Dr tomorrow. No signs of crystals/gout.
