Hi did the same! I got a second hand black version of this but it had a glass imperfection that I sold it back, then got another second hand silver version like new for a decent price. Super lens, great physical dials and manual feel. Will never sell it.

I have the Leica 15 mm F1.7 on my lumix G9 II and it's a stunning comb. and I totally agree the aperture needs to be a bit tighter so it's important to keep an eye on your aperture settings .......zen billings in canada

hey which one you prefer, lumix gx85,gx9 or sony a6400? please help me to decided i like lumix because they have small lens that are sharp and sony dont But I prefer Sony because the body is smaller, lighter, and the sensor is larger. im not sure about image quality

I basically went from the kit zoom to a 25 prime and really never went back to using zooms. I tried the 12-40 Oly pro and as nice as the lens was I just found myself going back to the look and the framing of my primes. After bouncing around between 17 and 25 I ended up getting the 20mm f1.4 OM and its been used 90% of the time since then (its my goldilocks lens). Even though I never really used wide angles on my zoom lenses much and prefer 20 to 17 I have been looking at the 15mm thinking its something I should pick up and try. I love the contrast and color it seems to produce and I think potentially having this sort of wideish prime will push me to consider this sort of framing (vs just zooming past that range). I like the idea of it on my smaller camera bodies (EMP2 and GX7). Nice video, always good to see people coming at things from a different perspective (zoom to prime etc).

Awesome video. Wish more lens overviews or reviews were like this. Narration with either footage or photos with the lens in question rather than a talking head video. It gives me a way better understanding of what the focal length, rendering and depth of Field the lens might look like in a real world scenario. Your older review was great too. Not sure why this one was recommended to me over that one lol.

Would the Panasonic Lumix S9 with the Lumix 35mm f1.8 be an interesting option for travel and street photography and a bit of video? The camera is getting a lot of criticism online. That said, despite its trade-offs (no flash hot shoe, no EVF, no mechanical shutter), I am starting to see what it can bring. A compact full-frame fun camera that is easy to use for photo and video yet still fully functional. I'm not sure how it compares to a more "serious" Sony A7C ii and A7CR

Sure a rather smooth AF. Not that slow even for photography unless maybe you are snapping like crazy. I gotta get that lens, its on my list. btw The 20-32mm which is also a tiny lens also has the "20-32" mark on the right side of the dot. Didn't noticed that before.

Thank you for this video. You are right. There is no perfect camera. Certainly the GX85 is not a perfect camera. I can live with the shortcomings of this body. I love my GX85. LUMIX isn’t making any more GX bodies so I purchased a 2nd GX85 as a backup. I was lucky and found a GX85 in my local camera store. I prefer the tilting LCD. This is a photography centered body as you mentioned with lots of video features. Come on, the EVF isn’t that bad. I use the EVF all the time and it is adequate for me. I’m sorry you don’t like the EVF. I am so sad LUMIX decided to disable this body by neglecting to include a microphone jac. Why LUMIX, why? I agree with you about the autofocus on this camera. The contrast based depth from defocus (DFD) is adequate for photography. You may see it go back and forth while achieving focus. It is quick and accurate. DFD is less adequate for video. The autofocus isn’t sticky so after acquiring focus it may lock onto something in the background for no apparent reason. A real disappointment. I do street photography. Pair this body with the PL15 lens and you have a killer bit of kit. I really enjoy using the 12-60 kit lens for the reach it provides. The 12-32 kit lens is tiny and also a good choice to walk around with. Two years after this video the GX85 is still a very good camera. It is now about six years old. If you want a small and lightweight M43 body this is a good choice. This body can be found for between $4-500. Pair it with one of LUMIX’s small lenses and you will not be disappointed. I now own two LUMIX G85 bodies. I have endorsed this body with my wallet. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Parfocal test; manually set at f5.6, the exposure zoomed in at 60mm seems +1/3rd brighter too. 🤔 . I have this lens, and what bothers me is fine MF doesn't really exist as the ABS tens to stick. 😞 I may have to get the Leica 12-35 just to get constant aperture for zooming. Hope it's better.

Love the good stabilization while you were walking, I was considering to buy 12-35 f2.8 OIS, but seems olympus is cheaper and perfect to take on the go for travelling. PS. Is it possible to make a video of G9II and Olympus 12-40 f2.8 pro lens (autofocus and AF while zooming, walking, running stability, low light) test? Thanks in advance!

Some gd points but a pity you used the Pana Leica 12-60 (24-120 equivalent) for the side by side comparisons. It isnt that sharp, the focal length range makes it too much of a IQ compromise. Would have been better to use the Pana Leica 10-25 or perhaps the fine OM System 12-40 f2.8 pro II. I think that would have been a fairer comparison with the Sigma 24-70.

I have this lens for nearly 4 years now, and even it feels super cheap and plasticky, it's a good and reliable lens, I use(d) it on Olympus OMD5I/II, OMD1(II/III), Panasonic G9II, GF3, and GF6 and it works very well and still works like a charm. I bought the same year, a Zuiko 9-18 and it's dead now, aperture ribbon broken, and it costs less to buy a new one than fixing it. I won't buy another one, I bought the 7-14 and very happy with it. It's sad to say but the only lenses, I had problems with are PanaLeica 12-60 2.8-4 (premium/pro lens) Zuiko 12-50 (kit lens) Zuiko 9-18 (entry level lens) all problems were quality issues, 12-60 mount contacts not working (bought a replacement mount on AE), Zuiko 12-50 Aperture issue (blade stuck ?), and 9-18 (aperture ribbon broken) I have both the 42.5 and the 12-40 from Xiaoyi and both work great. bought them used, 50€ for both, from a 2nd hand shop and to be honest, they are very capable lenses. When I want a light set, I take the Pana GF6+Xiaoyi 12-40+zuiko 40-150+ Xiaoyi 42.5 and I have for less than 1.5kg, 35mm équivalent of 24-300 + a portrait (and pseudo-macro) lens. For "newbies" photographers, their main drawback is their lack of stabilization, but it is not really a problem.

What an absurd camera/lens combo to use if you're going to be critical about the cumbersome aspect of sharing 47MP images on social media. Use an iPhone for heaven's sake!

Who ever wants this lens but is on a budget, there is a rebranded version from dji built for there MFT mounted drone cameras. It has the same design opticaly and housing. Only noticable difference is the dji version have a different front element coating to fight flares better since it is meant to be on drones. Check it out if you are interested in this fical length.

This Leica 15/1.7 is glued to my GX9. The perfect combo that never misses and always feels just right. Love them!

Yes, loose hood and aperture ring, don't see a focus soft spot. Great lens for street on Gx9 and Gx85. Love the colors I get but I don't usually carry when I have the 12-60 Leica with me.

Gh5 is better in dynamic range. And that compromises a bit with the noise issue. Nevertheless, it's on par with gx80, g85

FF has 3:2 aspect ratio,which is wider than 4:3. So, 15mm is litter wider, feels like the 35mm ff lens.

weird little quirk just found: the process between pressing shutter button and the camera taking the picture has a delay when I use this lens on G9II, however it doesn't occur with G9, GX800, it appears that G9II has difficulty communicating with such an old lens? weird! also the focus motor is really not up to par, you can't shoot burst very fast.
