In general, I tend not to like live albums over the studio versions. This is one of the quod exceptions. I also HATE country music,in general (w/ a few exceptions generally just for a few songs here and there) but Johnny Cash isn’t country he’s JOHNNY CASH! & insisting upon making a record at a prison is punk AF

This is not an unusual song for Cash. He did novelty songs for his entire career, starting with "Luther Played the Boogie." His best-selling single of all time was "A Boy Named Sue." "One Piece at a Time" put him back on the charts after he had dropped off for a while. He did many others, including an entire album entitled "Everybody Loves a Nut." "Chicken in Black" was rising on all charts when Cash himself killed it because someone convinced him he looked ridiculous in the video. "Chicken" might have kept him at Columbia for a while longer. Cash, for all his writing and performing greatness, had a very bad career sense. At Columbia, he constantly recorded songs that were painful to hear. Fortunately, they were mostly relegated as album stock. His first producers at Columbia, in particular, were too weak to guide him as Sam Phillips had done. Cash's later success was as much a product of Rick Rubin's input on material as his own musical sense.

Christopher Lee wasn't happy with the movies, particularly that his ending got cut. It appears in the extended only. Jackson may have been not fond of wizards doing wizard stuff, but hey, Saruman could control the weather!

Johnny Cash decided to write and perform something he thought would be unreleasable and it still came out fun, catchy and as a sly dig at the suits. He was too talented for his own good, apparently.
