The future is an idea I’ve always had a fascination with from a very young age and with the popularity of Paul, Eren and Anakin at an all time high I thought it would be the perfect time to explore this topic. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

    At the time of this comment im living with Bojack horseman. Hes 52, gay but doesnt have a girly voice or clean house. Hes been molested and tormented by mothers boyfriend and his mother just ignored it, horribly abusive partners. Last partner he had died in his sleep next to him. He has the ability to be very sensitive and selfless he does that a lot actually. But hes so pathetically WEAK, drinks every single day, eats very healthy tho, house is definitely not up to any adult standard but not an absolute pig sty. I barely talk to him anymore because his defeated mentality is GROSS, pathetic and ya cant associate with that as a young man. He blames almost every barrier in life on his abuse and all the things around him, house, dogs, yard, clothes are an example of someone who only ever went half way. Doesnt even drive so he gotta ask me or other friends to drive him in town. Bojack is a loser

    I don’t think that exactly encompasses what Eren went through. Eren DEFINITELY was not free. He did not seek to destroy the world simply because that’s who he was. If he did, no one would have had a chance to stop him as he could control all Eldian bodies. This is something shown in the final special episode of attack on titan. They all realize that eren could stop them at any time with the power of the founder. But he chose not to because he wanted them to stop him, because he couldn’t. He was being controlled- either by this future version of him or by Ymir. I believe personally that Ymir was controlling him. I am certain that if any character had tried to go for the kill on Eren in the last episode they would have been stopped. Ymir wanted Mikasa to kill Eren, and no one else. This is because of two things- A, because Mikasa is a reflection of Ymir. Ymir loved King Fritz even though he was a horrible man, and she could never figure out why. Mikasa loved Eren unreasonably as well. If Mikasa could kill Eren, it would show Ymir that the unreasonable love could be overcome, and that there was no reason to have the titans anymore as they were born out of the hatred for the other side and love for your comrades. Mikasa was able to overcome her love and show everyone that right decisions could be made by all humanity, no matter what race or side you’re on. This is why I believe Eren was not free at all. If he was, he either would not have stopped or he wouldn’t have started to begin with.

    The four Femritters were some of the best Quincies IMO. But I get why you wouldnt like Giselle since you've never liked zombies and she's the cause behind the zombie march. The Femritters are very different from most girl groups Kubo writes. They're a bunch of nasty bitches who are forced to become friends due to severe betrayal and trauma. Jugram even insisted on making sure the Femritters survive and live in peace with both the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, which they actually do.... in the goddamn light novels because Kubo was too sick to put everything he wanted or planned in the manga. The anime's third and fourth seasons will have so much anime original material because Kubo is implementing his old ideas, redoing the execution to what was in the manga, and there are so many hints that material from the light novels will be added too. Gimme gimme gimme

I also feel like this is missing characters like Killmonger and Magneto, two people with very understandable causes who let their hatred take them too far. Magneto I feel especially deserves a spot on this list due to how iconic he is and how his character actually reversed in public reception (things like #/Magnetowasright trending on twitter) compared somehow like Light who people agreed with at first before people understood his god complex nature and how he fundamentally fails at trying to fix crime.

    The chapter on Eren describes how I feel about him and AOT as a whole perfectly, I’ve never had someone put that disappointment with Eren into words. To me the story of aot is exactly as Mikasa said, it’s about this world being cruel but beautiful and there’s always a reason to keep living.

  • @PKM9107
    @PKM9107 Před 15 dny

    So I enjoyed the video but I’m going to respectfully disagree about Eren’s section. I finished AOT a few months ago and honestly it was a masterfully written series up until the last season. Eren didn’t want to exterminate humanity because their existence meant the world wasn’t free for him and his friends to explore. He wanted to exterminate humanity because no matter what, humanity wanted to exterminate his family and friends. The country of Marley was stated to be the nicest to Eldian’s. The country that was throwing kids into war and responsible for taking innocent people and turning them into monsters. Let’s not forget what they did to Grisha’s sister. I doubt she was an isolated case. These were the people that were considered kind to Eren and his people and they were 3rd class citizens cooped up in ghettos. Even when the Eldians from Paradis tried to negotiate for peace, Tybur and Marley declared war on Paradis. They hadn’t attacked anyone, and Marleyan Eldians through them under the bus as a scapegoat. There was literally NO option for Paradis to survive without the Rumbling. If Isayama had written the outside world with a shred of nuance, you could actually argue that Eren’s actions were unjustified. But he didn’t and humanity was written to be comically evil, cruel and hateful towards Eldians and pushed them into a corner of which they had no choice. I’m not even going to get into the questionable choices written throughout the rest of the last chapters/episodes of AOT. But overall a good video. I just personally disagree with the analysis of Eren many people in the fandom have.

      i think you entirely missed the point that it was ZEKE who initially brought the idea of tyber declaring the war (zeke also sided with eren so it was probably erens idea as well which was basically confirmed when they talk in the airship to hange ) eren met ramzi BEFORE he became hobo eren and he said to ramzi that FUTURE WONT CHANGE so eren basically KNEW willy was gonna declare war and i think you even missed a CRUCIAL MID CREDIT TITLE CARD stating 'PARADISE THREAT THEORY' most of the world HATED paradise BECAUSE OF what ELDIANS (erens people 2000 years ago ) did to them while some more people got terrified because of EREN'S DECLARATION OF WAR erens attack in liberio solidified their assumptions of them being a DEVIL and its crazy how you just ignore marleys hate here and only focus on what eren has gone through to me its just IGNORANT AND DUMB you casually ignore how eldians (king frtiz) massacred with the help of titans tons of traditions, religions 2000 years ago tyber even said that those massacres cant even be half of todays population (in aots world) and to top it all off YOU AGAIN CASUALLY FUCKING IGNORED EREN'S CONVERSATION WITH RAMZI

    • @pedrolanna1551
      @pedrolanna1551 Před 9 dny

      technically, the people of Paradis had mostly a good life. It was called "Paradis" for that reason, the King wanted the Eldians to have a peaceful time, before judgment day. For the past 90 years, the people inside the Walls lived in relative comfort, enjoying their mundane lifes, free from the sins of their ancestors. The only ones that suffered at the hands of the Titans where the scouts, who ventured beyond the Walls. Things only got real bad in the last 10 years, after the attack on the Walls, the beginning of the end. Outside the Walls, the world suffered at the hands of the Eldian Empire for 1900 years, killing more than 3 Rumblings and destroying entire civilizations. In the last 100 years, they continue to wage war and die at the hands of the Titans, now under Marley. The world is probably like this as the result of living under the cruelty of the Eldian Empire for so long, they learned how to rule from the way they were ruled. The humans have legitimate reasons to fear and hate the Eldians, as Eren himself pointed out, they were indeed giant cannibal monsters. Humanity understood that, as long as the Titans/Eldians exist, they will always be under the threat of the return of the Eldian Empire. Truth is, trying to pick a side kinda misses the point, both races have had great injustices commited upon them (cycle of violence), both were trying to survive, but they are placed in a cruel scenario where coexistence was almost impossible to achieve by them. The FT probably has the power to fix the problem, but Eren can't see past his own choices. People conclude too fast that the outside world is comically evil, but we know that they know that most people of the world are just normal and innocent. Just because Kyiomi and the diplomats of the rest of the world are bad at their jobs, it doesn't meant that Eren shouldn't have tried to negotiate a peace, instead of launching the Rumbling the second he gained the power to do so. Yes, Eren did want to save the people of Paradis, but the Rumbling isn't necessary to protect Paradis, it's overkill and too extreme, destroying Marley and the world's most powerful military should have been enough. The Rumbling can't be something that is justified by the story, which is why it makes more sense if it's primarily the result of Eren's selfish dreams, and his inability to let go of them.

      I made my own comment about the whole thing. I disagree with the video for the reason that Eren definitely was not “free”. He did not choose to go down that path- it was chosen for him. Sure, maybe it was a manifestation of himself in the future that caused this, but if he was free he would not have been stopped. He has full control over all eldians as the founder, and yet he gave his friends a chance to stop him. This not only meant he was not dedicated internally to destroying the world, it meant he would even kill his friends who were his number one priority in order to do it. This is nothing like Eren, who protected his friends in the beginning. My man Eren was not free at all, and I think he does a great job explaining who Eren was, but not exactly what was guiding/controlling him.

    I have to fully disagree with Paul being on the fence: he's actually completely free. Unlike Vader and Eren, Paul was the only that could see all future possibilities and choose accordingly. In the film itself he says that in many paths their enemies win, but he can see a "narrow way through". He could've choose any future he wanted, but he choose the one in which he obviously won, accepting the consequences of his actions, which he was afraid of before he took the Gatorad- Water of Life. He even foresees alternate timelines for guidance from Jamis (the dude he killed in the end of the first movie). Eren and Vader on the other hand, tried to go against their future and failed. Eren even apologized to a kid he saved from being beaten in his story, hinting strongly that whatever he did, he wasn't able to change his future. Tl;dr. Paul is the actually free character, while both Vader and Eren are not.

    • @tragicjack6815
      @tragicjack6815 Před 20 dny

      That was Eren’s NATURE though. His future was inescapable because said future was the most ideal one for him. He was in denial for a long time, thinking that there was no way he’d want to kill that many people, when in reality he actually did. The video explains this perfectly: Eren saw it as a reflection of his selfish desire, but couldn’t admit it until he finally realized why he wanted to do it. It was the future he wanted the most.

    • @pedrolanna1551
      @pedrolanna1551 Před 9 dny

      I would say that Paul is at least more "powerful" than Eren. Eren can only see the past and future memories of all the Eldians, but he can't see alternative timelines, and through these memories he sees the actual future. Paul on the other had is like a supercomputer who is able to predict with demonic accuracy what the future will be, depending on his choices, like a 5D chess Grandmaster. Different from Eren, this allows Paul to pick the best possible future he can predict. It's a bit weird to think that, even with this power, Paul can't find a good course of action that doesn't lead to a galactic jihad. I mean, was there really absolutely nothing he could have done to convince the other great houses? Couldn't he have just sat down with each of them and do the magic trick where he tells them what they had for breakfast the day before, that he knows they hid the wooden horse on that fire place thing when they were kids, that if they just do as he tells them they will be freakishly rich. Ya know? One would imagine that if someone could predict the future so well, that it would be able to use it to avoid wars, and prosper. As for Eren, it's not that he couldn't change his future, he could have, if he wanted to, and he was conflicted about it, but when the time came, he always ended up choosing that which he already knew he would choose, not because "the past/future can't be changed", but because he realizes it is what he wants. The future is determined, but it's also the results of Eren's "free will". In the story, he's the only one who has real freedom to choose, and everyone else are subjects to his will. The only thing he can't choose is his nature, he can't abandon his obsession/dream of "freedom".

    • @tragicjack6815

    • @pedrolanna1551
      @pedrolanna1551 Před 8 dny

      tragicjack. Eren didn't really try to change the past/future, if he really did then he would have, since he had the knowledge and the power to do so. Like, if he really wanted to test if he could change the past and decided to kill Ramzi and all those other guys on that alley, then and there, what would have happened? If he had a gun, would it have jammed? The idea that something like that would happen is just silly. At best, Eren could have tried to kill Ramzi, but would have been emotionally unable to. This could have shown that Eren had moments of doubt, maybe even thoughts of killing himself, like Reiner, but as time passed, more and more he came to accept that the future he was building is what he wanted after all. When Eren decides to save Ramzi, he doesn't do it to try to change the past, he does it because he knows that saving him there doesn't interfere with him meeting him later. He could even have watched from a distance, checking to see if the kid would get out of there alive, to test his visions, but he takes pity on the kid and "saves" him from those guys. When the kid thanks him, he feels like crap, as he knows he's the last person the kid should be thanking. On a rewatch, one of the nice clues I think we got that tells us that Eren was accepting that future and didn't want to change it is the fact that he stopped cutting his hair. Cutting his hair short would have been one of the easiest things he could have done if he wanted to test if he could change the future. Think about it, Eren used to cut his hair shorter, but one day he realizes that a certain vision he saw with himself with longer hair must be "coming soon". He realizes that he needs to stop cutting his hair, otherwise that won't happen the way it did. It's at that moment, when he's choosing between cutting his hair or not, that he first starts to decide that he doesn't want the future to change, even when he already knows it's all leading to the Rumbling, or especially because he knows it will. A normal person that would have even tried to avoid the Rumbling or really find another way would have at least tried to test if they could change the future they saw, but Eren doubles down on the future that he saw on every chance he had, every day he chose to not cut his hair. Eren saving Beruto doesn't mean he knew or that there could have been alternative timelines, it just means he could predict the obvious, the same thing that everyone else knows, that Bert doesn't die that day, so when he saw that Dina was going to eat him if "someone" didn't do something, he just intervened and saved him. In truth, Carla's death has nothing to do with saving Bert. Carla doesn't have to die as a condition for Bert to be saved. After saving him, he could have just intervened again in the same way to save her too. What's really happening here is that Eren is realizing he has the power to save his mother, just like he did with Bert, but he's going to choose to let her die, in order to preserve the past/future, because at this point in his life, the Rumbling/Dream of "Freedom" has become more important to him than saving his mother. This should have been the emotional climax of the story, something the author was working on since day 1, the idea that Eren is the creator of his own story/hell, in a very "Shakespearean/Greek Poetic Ironic Tragedy" way. Technically speaking it's a beautiful closed causal loop that ties with the cyclic nature of the story and it's themes, but since it was probably a very hard pill for most of the young audience to swallow, the idea that Eren would cause/choose for his mother to die instead of saving her, then I guess it's why we only got 1-2 pages about it in the final chapter. Pity. If Eren had Paul's powers, maybe he could have imagined a way to save his mother, avoided the horrible massacres in his story and still find another way for him to end up getting the power of the FT, so he could use it to do all of this, but the thing is Eren isn't Paul, he can't do the 5D chess and find another way, which is why the future is what it is. Eren can only choose based on the information that he knows, which includes the future, the result of the choices he is going to make even when they are already influencing him, like self-fulfilling prophecies. Imagining alternative timelines is too much for him, so he ends up choosing what he wants the most and just accepts the consequences. It's possible that there are other alternative timelines. Eren has the knowledge and the power to influence the past and choose otherwise, but we don't know what would happen if he did. Would that create an alternative timeline or would it cause an impossible Paradox that should implode/break that timeline? If the universe is indeed "quantum", then all possible choices/timelines exist, but only the possible ones. The impossible ones simply don't come to be. Regardless, the story of AoT is the story of that "main" timeline, one in which all the choices made don't change the past.

      @@pedrolanna1551 Eren can’t change the past because that would mean he wouldn’t arrive at the future he wanted. And that’s important to highlight because he WANTED that future to happen. Remember, Founder Eren can experience past, present, and future simultaneously. Meaning he was there in every point in time from the Path’s creation and every moment after that, up until he finally dies. If the order is 1-2-3, then Eren is at all three all at once, making sure events happen exactly as he wants it. He can’t change anything that prevents his birth and he can’t change anything that prevents him from getting the Founder’s power in the first place. Eren is already at the finish line, and he’s only setting up the pieces so that he reaches said finish line to begin with.
