Judy Garland - The Man That Got Away
The Man that Got Away was written by Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin for the film A Star Is Born. (1954) But This is Not the recording for the film. No, this was recorded live at Carnegie Hall in New York, on April 23, 1961, for the Capitol Album SWBO-1569, JUDY AT CARNEGIE HALL, released on July 10, 1961. The Orchestra was conducted by Mort Lindsey. This is my favorite song, although not my favorite Version, but I still enjoy it.
I would also like to dedicate this video to my dear friend John, (mrkingsrow) who has been there for me since my first days on CZcams. Thanks a lot John!
(Sorry for the Bad video quality, I don't know what happened!)

Jo didn't have to have her voice "auto-tuned.' She was the genuine deal. Today, lots of stars are diginally fixed for the fact they''re pretty, but can't sing. But back in the day, it wouldn't have been necessary: Jo and legions of other artists back then could sing pitch perfect--period!

On the PBS series about the history of western music they showed how Patsey would lend Loretta Lynn her stage costumes at the beginning of her career….she was kind hearted and supported other female performers.

My dad was in Creighton Medical School in the 50's..and so homesick for my brother, me, and my mom, and extended family,in Washington state. He wrote long letters to my mother, who was the only ophthalmologist left in the tiny town--with dad in med school, for his Seciality.Dad was going nuts and sent a lot of letters-----he did see ( to us , now!) "Old Movies," with med school friends.. But he was Homesick, with a capital "H.' He was the best student in his medical studies-but did rely on dear old wonderful songs like this-to get him through Anatomy classes, and strict instructors.

She had a great sense of humor, too. She and her husband Paul Weldon had a comedy act called "Jonathan and Darlene Edwards" where he was a terrible lounge pianist and she an off-key singer. They recorded a handful of albums and won a Grammy in 1960 for Best Comedy Recording.
