I am doing this because i want you guys to get more out of the games we love. In order to get more fun out of those games you will need to learn mechanics tips and tricks - WHOA, That's exactly what i constantly put in my videos, what a match!
Very analytical constantly thinking human being which really values being alone undisturbed. i know i come acroos like easy going and i am also very capable of approaching all kind of people easily, funny, flirty what ever i want to be, but it costs me energy, energy i reload when figuring out "problems" in complex games. Probably autistic but never tested that.
So as time of writing this cities skylines clearly dominates the channel and cities skylines 2 is around the corner.
I play other games but unless i will be able to afford an editor i am focusing on what brings the channel forward.

@@Drakkart were you saying about build residental in one region. And factory and commercial on same region but in separated region from residental ? And maybe i lack of creativity to build a diverge and converge method .. like we build the road first than build buildings or build road simultaniosly with building? And for factory/industrial alway do 1 way 3lane ? Like from 1 factory goes 6 way, 3 out and 3 in ?
@@muhammadilman1821 ok residential away fom industry with a bit of commercial and office in between so they have a cornershop just for realism sake. but you also probably want to concentrate the majority of commercial in a bigger downtown zone in order to enable rail working really efficient there supplying this area with the goods from the industrial zone. so the trucks will spawn at the cargostations within or surrounding that zone which gives you the opportunity to establish this additional layer of road hirarchy where the trucks hardly want to leave the area because the station they spawned is attached to other roads as where the residentials enter or leave this area. Diverge before converge is basically just the split regarding destiantion before merging the traffic from all the possible sources. this instead of first merging the possible sources and then trying to split the traffic to the different destinations is just the higher throughput method and higher throughput is what you need when dealing with industry at this scale. To build it be aware of where is stuff coming from in the video it was 3sources. and then consider where does stuff want to go to, we had two destinations each covering another type of ressource. so from each of the possible sources we first split the traffic either the truck needs to get to ore oil or it wants to go to forestry farming. and then we merge all the ore oil roads leding them to ore oil and the same for forestry farming. we also could have gone with one road each but as i showed in the video utilizing 3 lane 1 way roads we can put either ressource on either side of such a road. and dedicate the middle lane for trough traffic. in pure vanilla you probably rathere want to give each ressource type its dedicated road. Or for such an industry area where does traffic come from. outside, stations and warehouses then you just arrange the industrial zone in collums and could as well do such a setup. just make the roadlayout sort the traffic regarding where it needs to go to before merging the roads which need to lead to the building the trucks want to get to. 3 lane one way would be ideal but i just would use those for the really heavy traffic normally a 2 lane one way should be sufficient as a road that just needs to serve a collum of industry buildings. but when you merge the traffic from all these collums to five them a trip back road and also want this road to house the stations and the services and such i suggest you pick 3 lane one way instead for you always want to provide a lane in the middle for traffic that does not want to wait for other lanes to finish their business.

Public transport. I have never had problem when it is done logically and actually realism helps :D
define realism for cities skylines in context please ;) i mean you can mod the game... you can alter a lot. Personally i feel Pt's job is to get peple to where they need to go. in real live people often spend time with other people, cims don't. So i focus on getting them to their jobs, to attractions, general points of interest including all the shopping options.
Thanks for guide!! when you talk about supply chain, do you mean when playing Industries DLC? otherwise I do not recognise that issue about delivery between storage and production sites. Still never played Industries DLC. that is why I ask. Thank you!
the only difference is that the industries dlc uses it's own refinded goods and has aded warehouses. without the dlc you just need to worry about one half of the supply chain the one already established in the original game. That said warehouses are great to have which is why this dlc is one of the most recommended. For it makes it so much easier to build along the supply chain without them you pretty much need to balance everything manually without the added buffer... But the guide on how to organize all of this still stays the same you just have not the handy tools to dedicate an area as next spot in the chain and thus need to think more to properly replicate the structure.
As someone who learned a lot of this the hard way, even years later, this is a terrific guide that will save you SO MUCH TIME and answers so many questions that plague us in the beginning.
thank you

Thank you for still playing cities skylines 1. I can't get enough with how buggy cs2 are.
yeah i considered the "if you don't like the simulation this game might not be for you" statement from CO as buying advice.
started cities skylines recently and I love your channel, it serves as sort of a concise intermediate guide to this game; which is really hard to find (a lot of videos are "guides" that are over 30m long and hard to digest, yours is like reading a quality Steam community guide in video form) I really like the visual breakdown of traffic flow at 7:17 and 11:20, the utilization of different colours and arrows helps with your explanation I also like how at 11:10 after the timelapse you gave a summary of what you changed compared to the old system, and how it functions better and how it differs from the old traffic flow I hope at some point in the future when you finish building this city you make a summary video on logistics of the city, essentially tracing stuff: "where does suff comes from? where does it go? how does it get there?" from extraction to-> commercial
A good idea though i try to keep videos to a certain topic which for algorythms sake is also a bit catchy and all the shenanigans BUT feel invited to catch me when streaming. becuse then when you are asking a question i could instantly show you and take the time to make sure your question got answered i mean ofc i have to do it in my city but still like whatever you missed in the episodes of the let'S play or i didn't cover in the approproate detail i could go into that. streams are great for that because well i normally pick one thing i would like to do but the rest is pretty much open to viewer interaction. you might want to check "the secret of building big cities..." video that might give some clues even though i am not too proud of it's editing in retrospect. regardless it pretty much should deliver the pointers you are looking for.
Great job mate! Well done.
Thank you buddy yeah i hope people understand it for i really focused on getting my points across.
Great "let's catch up" intro and very informative video on the why and how! Nice job!

9:10 how?
Because we successfully split the "regular" traffic where it wants to go to and where it wants to leave again from where cargo is coming from and wants to return to. Let's say you would wonder why you have such massive traffic but forgot to utilize rail. no wonder the customers for your shops as well as the cargo trucks stocking the shops up are all entering and leaving the area through the same - probably highway intersection. But with cargo freight stations connected to roads which for the normal traffic would be considered "side roads" then the traffic mixes on lesser frequentet roads doing its thing and also leaves / returns to the station without bothering the other. Or in other words for the citizens doing their shopping there is nothing of interest on the roads leading to or from the stations. For the trucks there also is very little incentive to leave / return to the area through the same access pathes normal traffic does given the entire city is served by cargo rail stations. because if every shopping area has it's own stations then the shortest route thing will ensure cargo trucks travel on rail always to the stations closest to the goods real destination. only if you leave an area unattended without a station then trucks from other stations would still have to get there to supply the area. But should you decide not to give a commercial area a dedicated station it is probably too small to attract traffic of both kinds in troubeling numbers.
That train bridge at the beginning bothers me😅
how so?
@@Drakkart I like your vids btw you have given me lots of ideas and make good suggestions… and the bridge wasn’t smooth enough for my ocd lol I’m obsessed with smooth transitions of elevations.
@@foxbodyboys4483so you are appreciating that i also have vry strict rules when it comes to angulations for my railtracks? but the yanky to redlight station threw you off? well it is a full track meanwhile ;) looking back at this video - it is "old" we have the new campuxen now, the airport the downtown and the second supply rail line... but yes i can understand that something might not be to your taste i have the same issues when looking at other peoples stuff that's probably something we need to deal with. I just hope the concepts i try to share still reach you guys. because for me looks is one thing the important question to me always is, is it working or sacrificed / modded to work for pure looks. and i rather admire cities that actually "beat the game"
@@Drakkart I appreciate all your time and efforts into your builds. I have followed your advice on a lot of my rail projects. You have also helped me improve traffic flow!

I agree with your friend. This city is art. 🤩
well it is not finished yet ;) But eventually i will be able to do that in 2024... Thank you.
Is this City Skylines 2? I play the base game of the first game and most of these buildings you are showing i have never seen before. I build a industry zone and the game decides on it own that industry buildings it will make.
naw that is the original. yeah the game populates areas with buildings when you zone them but ground ressources and the different industry specializations then dictate which buildings the game may spawn there. And i also have the Industries DLC which adds kind of a second industry to the mix. actually i got pretty much all the dlc - i think, actually lost track - so if there is something in the series you can not identify, it is either part of a dlc you do not own or it is one of the very few workshop assets i downloaded.

Thats why I'll only buy the game on steam when it price shrinks like a dick. I hate how these game devs think they can keep trying to take the piss with their loyal gamers. From CITYs1 this one should be the entire world and maybe the moon size big. We obviously loved the game, spent many hours, and created many many mods to help make the game perfect - so what, you could then go and give us a major patch update as a thank you gift under the guise CS2.... 'am I right'!!! Life is good. I want! to build across the entire world. then create a travel resort to the moon and maybe even tours around Mars and other highlights. Build rivers etc.... I want to actually employ workers buy the units tens and dozens and actually watch them build a house to a building. real money management. Train certain districts to be builders and others to be inventors, future investors, scientists, retailers, etc. I want to buy from other cities and sell to them. place a government, make my citizens vote. help them to understand why im raising taxes, and how they may respond when i lower taxes. I want to support my citizens award them and maybe even play as them. this is NEXT GEN GAMING. Star Citizen, spaceengine, Space Engineers, Elite Dangerous, graphic cards, memory sticks and storage devices all allow us to game at much higher efficiency than ever before buuuuut those dam devs. what if districts did not get along because of poor management by the player, so they wanted to go to war as one district felt the other was getting preferential treatment. So creating zones where weapons are prohibited. actually employing staff to build and create shuttles after they research how to. understanding how and why they can venture so also learning for the player. they took the piss, esp with the remastered crap on consoles.
yeah well we do not have to buy a product we are not pleased with.
while a game like that would be cool if you were hoping this studio would accomplish anything near that intricate of a game, you are outta your mind. It's an indie studio in finland. A game you are talking about would take a triple-A studio years and years to develop, if you wanted it to be good at least. IDK if you know much about making games, but it's an extremely difficult and tedious process that involves lots of masters of many different arts and industries. It's not like making a movie where a higher budget=better movie.
@@muscleman125bigger budget - less innovation - worse movies. the best movies were mostly made out of great ideas not big budgets. Yes i code, do you code - never mind don't want to know. well they hd years but obviously should have taken some more time before embarassing themselfes. Well according to a quick google search CO had 30 employees in 2022 that is not a "small" indie studio m8. How come you let off steam on such an old video which ia on a totally different topic the map size compared to the original? had a bad day m8?
Built is looking good! Pedestrian zones irk me, for all their neat features I stopped using them. They can be used to make cool neighbors but past that it feels like cheesing the game a bit.
Well the build will be looking better when the island is finished ;) They are totally cheating just because of the magical transportation aspect. i had the dlc for so long still kind of an ambivalent relationship to the dlc. but when not to use it if not for an island ;)
Abend Schaut super aus
Nabend, danke ;)
i have a city with about 116k people with zero public transportation and my biggest, and only, issue is lag. i have another city on CS2 that has about 106k people and it's become unplayable due to how laggy it is, however my CS1 city is still somewhat playable.
CS2 lacks a proper simulation, stuff gets transportet via magic. In the original every produced unit of goods requires transportation along the way except when utilizing ped areas but then again probably the deliveriy vehicles are just made invisible as seen when a garbage truck enters the ped area and just "disappears". in CS2 there is no proper simulation in the game imperatur showed that it does not matter wether you have PT or not the traffic simulation stays the same even though the Pt prior one day transported xk people so if the game would have a proper simulation like the original then these xk people would use their cars, they dont and noone complains about not being able to reach something so they just magically teleport. which is one of the reasons why i will not support that game for a proper simulation is key otherwise it is just a painting canvas for a city and all the "problems" are created arbitrarily and not caused by actual traffic problems. Sorry but where is the challenge?
I don't even know how to put this into words without it sounding WEIRD AF. But right now you're my comfort voice. As a Neurodivergent individual I need lots of random info at all hours coming my way, spexially if they're one of my current hyperfixations, and your videos are so FLOODED with tons of info, order, facts and the type of ideas I'd come up to, or the type of problems I'd see that nobody else seems to care about... That listening to you is just like therapy to me. It makes me feel... "understood ", seen or something?!?! I love your mind. Seriously. I hope this doesn't sound too weird hahahaha
I was hoping for people like you finding these videos and also understanding that i mean i am justlike you i see things the stuff circulating does not pose solutions so i have to use my grey cells to figure it out on my own... thanks man

oh and don't forget to check the aftermath because well it did not work for my city but cycling actually might have an effect on other cities.
does it work, i mean like does it really solve the congested intersection
as ugly as it looks it does it's job but the question how it performs actuallly depends on how your entire city performs if you put it at a bottleneck the type of intersection does not matter for there is not a magical intersection that solves what you might have misorganized throughout an entire city. But yes it works just looks ugly.
Do you need a dlc to do this?
The airport? yeah airports dlc. or the camera? yeah that is modded.
