Look man, if Sobel had the decency to recognize Winters for what he’s done he would’ve redeemed himself in some fashion. It’s obvious his career in WWII afforded him little in terms of personal growth.

I would have humiliated Sobel a lot more than that.
Good leaders don’t do that. None of them liked Sobel’s degrading tactics. Winters was then in a leadership position over Sobel. If he started pulling off the same style leadership Sobel had, he’d be no better.

When charged w/courtmartial your relieved of all duties. Most CO dont like court martials, it shows the unit has underlying dissent and morale problems that is a relection of poor leadership. Discipline problems can spread. Too bad the Btn CO is not aware of this earlier. Maybe the Btn. Commander is not a great leader as made out, he selected the companies to be a CO.

Sobel thought he had Winters under his thumb, but soon realised that Winters was going to be a better leader than he ever was. It's why I love this scene.
Everyone has a "fuck it" point, Winters clearly hit his. Also, showing the highers as to WHAT was the cause of all this might make them look at Sobel for sheer WTF-ness.
@@JnEricsonx No, Winter knew that Sobel had no case and that he had a good enough reputation that Sink and Strayer were going to back him in the end which they did. They needed Winters for the upcoming invasion and they knew from multiple episodes that Sobel had pretty much was not up to the combat that was about to take place. He was expendable but Winters was not. The parachute school assignment was a convenient way to get Sobel out of the way!

But actually there's one thing interesting, which is that actually having been sent to be a trainer in a parachuting school, whatever kind, and moreover commanding such a school, used to be a step which proved to be a career advancement for good officers. In other words, officers given such destination knew they were on the right track, and commanders of such schools almost always got promoted afterwards. General Maurice Rose, for instance, was sent to train in such a school (also for civilians, and he was also the chief trainer of US shooting Olympic team when he was there) just before world wear II when he was a major. Once he completed the assignment he became lieutenant colonel. So the fact that Sobel stayed a captain during the WHOLE war blows my mind.
great in training, worthless in execution
But hard to say even great in training if he was never prepared to build the men up after breaking them down. At no point did Sobel have a moment where he was actually genuinely proud of the men.

How in blazes did Sobel get his commission? He was definitely a case of an abused young man who sought to take out his frustrations with his men.
perhaps as a lieutenant he could only reach Captain, the last rank he could have reached. Due to his resume he would not have the option of ascending to the rank of major.

¿Cuál es la razón por la que al principio Sobel quiere cancelarle el pase a Winters o mandarlo a corte Marcial?
Porque le dio una orden de inspeccionar el aseo de las letrinas a una hora determinada y Sobel cambió la orden a una hora más temprano, pero Winters no fue notificado de la orden porque no lo encontraron. Winters se dio cuenta que fue injusta la medida, ya que al no ser notificado de una orden, no la incumplió.
Entiendo que esa es la explicación que da, pero ¿no es una excusa por una razón encubierta que quiera castigarlo? Porque se ve que su intención es quitarle el pase y le sorprende que Winters apele a corte marcial.

Entiendo esa parte. Pero queda claro que lo de las letrinas es una excusa para castigarlo ya que Sobel está enojado con Winters. Mi pregunta era: Dejando de lado las letrinas, ¿cuál es la verdadera razón por la que Sobel está enojado con Winters?
