I think I know what my next Warfighter purchase will be. Wait... I'm going to need the Germans and the Italians... mmm.

I really like the sound of these new features, while I won't be getting Vietnam myself as I already own more then Warfighter WW2 content, still really intresthing to see the ways to add in new mechanics into what has now become a 10 year old series. And unlike Fantasy which recieved some big critic on its rules this one seems very solid.

My copy is scheduled to arrive on Friday and I'm really looking forward to getting this one on the table. I think the new game mechanics introduced for WF Vietnam are rather interesting, some nice tweaks to the system.

Seems like a starter kit rather than a game that can stand on its own. Doesn't seem there's enough soldier cards to run either US squads or ARVN squads by themselves. I think that's a BIG negative. Maybe Im wrong though. I was interested in a Vietnam edition but think I'll stick with WWII as I bought a few expansions for it and probably unwilling to go down that road again. I'll watch the playthroughs to be fair though!

I love COIN games for exactly this reason, for the narratives they provide us. Yes, you can argue that less is left to the imagination because the event texts explicitly tell us what happened, but seeing a story unfold because of a certain string of events coming out is always fascinating and interesting; imaging alternate histories, or trying to reproduce history, I just have a blast with them.

whats up with printing error on the gameboard

i just had this show up in my recommendations and its great, thanks! i was too late to get the first edition when it first came out, and the only copies I found back few years ago were super expensive so i kept putting off buying it,but then i found out about the revised reissue release and i got a preorder copy pretty cheap but then i missed the next expansions as I didnt think they were already released yet but then i couldnt get any from FF when i went to check. I have found a game seller that has them but they are almost three times what they should be costing. That should be a crime to overcharge that muchas its still a "brand new" released game. So some gamers have said that there isnt that much different between the OG and the reissues and ya can use some of the OG expansions with the 2nd Ed Base game. but now ya cant even find any of the 1stEd expansions for sale. lol so this helps a lot. I just ordered the new card sets though so i would at least get those as there are a bunch of new things added.

Intresthing idea for a series. If I had to create a German team from both German expansions (so not taking any soldiers from other battle packs or what-not) I would go for Player soldier Ewert (14 RP) with a K98 rifle (1RP) & local knowledge skill (2RP) - his main benefit is the leadership skill that will improve everyone's movement. Non-player soldier Marin (6 RP) the MP40 grants 1 XP, and he has 3 grenades which is great to deal with hostiles that have lots of enemies in them. Sqaud soldier Ludwig (5 RP) he has 3 actions and decent hit rate (range 0 hitting on 6, range 1 on 8). So great at taking pot shots at whatever hostiles. Sqaud soldier Beckman (1RP) he is pretty decent for a 1 cost soldier, has 2 actions and comes with 1XP, great for rounding up a team. Main idea is that Ludwig & Martin will be doing the heavy lifting, Beckmann rounds up the team & Ewert focuses on drawing action cards & firing at the occasional hostile if he gets the right cards like Steady aim, snap shot or Silver bullet.

Thank you for the potted history of Up Front. I was aware of some of its early issues but I didn’t know that the SL community had been expecting (and would have preferred) an updated rules set. It seemed to me that it was a mistake to sell it as an SL card game because, to the SL players, it wasn’t SL, and to the non-SL players it was an SL product to be automatically avoided. I bought the original and the two expansions in the mid-to-late 1980s and it’s remained one of my all-time favourite games, albeit little-played in the past ten years or so. For a while, in the early 90s, we discovered the three-player (two-versus-one) rules and played it seemingly non-stop for weeks, before turning to something else. Whenever I’ve tried to resurrect it since, the re-learning of the rules always puts off the others. If nothing else, I’ll brush up on the rules with the help of your excellent series of videos and play it solo before the end of 2024. I have Warfighter WWII (Europe/Eastern Front only) but haven’t played it since last year. I admire the work you’ve produced here and I’m going to investigate with interest your Warfighter 29 system (although I don’t want to lose completely the delicious agony of trying to squeeze out the best mix without exceeding the Load Out). I hadn’t realised that a recent update of the rules had been published. I’ll download it from the BGG page and dive in. I had Fortune & Glory since 2013 but played only once (solo) before selling it earlier this year. The 1930s Indiana Jones-influenced adventure romp was the reason for buying it. The reason for not playing it was the cards: the designer and his friends visit the dressing-up box and emerge with ridiculous moustaches and obviously modern clothes. I’m sure it was the less expensive and quicker option, but the art and graphic design of the board is so good and carrying it over to the cards would probably have led this to being one of my most-played games. My loss, but I couldn’t get past those awful cards. I have Undaunted: North Africa only (plus Reinforcements) as I prefer WWII small-unit actions, usually solo but I have played with friends as well. I need to catch up with your previous Undaunted output and I look forward to your upcoming work.

At 2:35 you say that a Unaware, Paused and GFA hostiles do random movement, I am sure only Unaware hostiles use random movement.

Well done! Good games handle FOW eloquently. I like AMFS (Gettysburg) handling of it. Still not perfect but can throw a wrench in the works at any moment!

Hope you might have specific volume and issue information about something from the General. It was supposedly from an Up Front playtester who said there were supposed to be two exceptions to the no more than one LMG in a group. The first was for Italy, as historically they did have concentration in the main fire group. From what I have found that appears to be correct. The other exception was France, but only for play ballance purposes. Anyway, if you happen to know where in the General this might be found, I would appreciate it. Love your channel.
