Thanks for the idea. Had a rear view mirror that would always droop on my 2010 Prius. Instead of card stock, I used small piece of Gorilla tape folded and adhered over in the screw indentation. So far, the mirror is stiff as a board. That's what she said. D'oh!

It's my right side speaker that is causing the muffling, so for now, I am just going to use the left until I get to cleaning or replacing the right speaker. Thanks man. I fixed me speaker just by following your cover removal guide (spared me from accidentally bending the cover at the back). There was a piece of ferrous material stuck to the magnet. Cleaned it. Works fine.

This seems like the perfect place to ask lmao. You think I could cut out a section of the back plate, put a 30 in 40 out LVDS/EDP (I don’t know which this uses) adapter and make the whole display removable? I wanna be able to take the screen out use it as a 2nd monitor and set the laptop aside. Everything tells me it’s doable but I don’t know what other cables other than camera and RGB I’d have to worry about, also moving the cable around the heatsink to the back plate without it snagging on anything or resting on something important.

So difficult to find a Micro-A USB cable or charger. Listings on Amazon state the cable is for Kindle D00901 but the photos show a Micro-B USB! None state Micro-A in specs.

I've had the same issue twice. I have a hobby metal shop, and my guess is that the filings created get stuck on my clothes and end up getting tractor beamed into the speaker magnets. Both times, I attempted to remove the visible ferrous metal from the speaker with a q-tip, but I'ts almost impossible to do without damage to the dainty speaker surrounds in this tiny speaker. Save yourself some time, and just buy a replacement, because Im 90% sure that by the time you start hearing the crackle noises, the speaker is already toast. Also, it's a good idea to vacuum and blow out the computer board with compressed air while you are in there, because the fans pull in all kinds of crap and drag it right across the board including the speakers... If you skip this step, you will be right back in here replacing your speaker again soon after.

Thanks so much for this. Make sure you check for metal on the speakers like he says before replacing them. I had a speaker that sounded so busted, took it into apple shop but they said it would be £550 to fix as it was out of warranty. So I found this video and took the back off and there was a few bits of metal on the speaker magnet. Removed them and now the speaker sounds perfect again.

I used MBP 16 for nearly 2 years, and now the speaker is producing a crackling sound. Upon inquiring about repairs, customer service informed me that it would cost $728 to replace the speaker, which is a third of the price of the laptop itself. It's absolutely absurd that a $2200 laptop's speaker would fail within such a short period without any external damage. The repair cost being a third of the laptop's price is outrageous. I intend to initiate a petition in the US, hoping to connect with others experiencing the same problem. This is indicative of a subpar product, and customers shouldn't bear the burden of Apple's shortcomings. I plan to share my grievances on various social media platforms and if the issue persists, I will escalate it to the media for further exposure. PS: I tried to post this on the Apple community, but they never tried to contact me or try to solve the problem. All they did was delete my posts or replies under others' posts. I guess this is how Apple deals with customer service. This is how they maintain a positive reputation now.

I have an L14 Gen 2a the battery life is only been two hours on it , ever since I bought it brand new. Do you know where I can find a bigger battery to replace the current battery with? Because 2 hours isn’t cutting it .

PLEASE BEWARE : This method is very dangerous because your battery is still connected and ready to fry your machine. Please always remove the back plate, disconnect the battery first and then proceed. I learned this $1200 lesson frying my GPU trying this gimmicky way.

Clean the fans with vacum cleaner and toothbrush with alchol untill all the dirt come out also you need to put the paste on whole chip not like you did its very bad...if you want to teach something do it like you should or not do any stupid videos

Yup. I didn’t have to use a shim (yet). Just tightened up the screw. I had looked up there before and for some reason didn’t see the screw and figured I’d just have to live with a loose mirror. Thanks for the great tip and instructions!
