for the past several septembers james has been giving us little peaks into trish's past with posts on his blog that usually include a demo. this is a gift, like getting 36 septembers all at once; its hard to take it all in immediately but "sleeping bed" "a little light" "running back to me" and "march of the fleas" are all new favorites and i'm sure more will follow with more listens. this is a palimpsest of differing tones and ideas that are yes, a blanket for me as something that reminds me of a better time; that time being when she was alive. i had friends, i had talking, i had something to look forward to. missing broadcast when they came thru here i could've said "i'll see them next time" but you have to do things while you can. thank you james for sharing your partner's last will through sound. i took a long walk to hear it all @ once and sure enough track 1 sounds like she was taking a walk as well, so that hit pretty hard. 🎹💜

I am only 18 years old in a world that is almost new to me, and it's really being hard to swallow. Not long ago, I used to stop at every glance of beauty and art I could see, and dance to any song i heard. Nowadays, with med school and more responsibilities, i feel bad every day for not having time. Time to spend with my loved ones, time to express myself playing instruments, time to enjoy life. All I do is study, and while I'm not at it, my mind makes me feel guilty. I wish to be able to get my stuff together and be able to enjoy myself some more. Regardless of how I feel, artists like Nujabes and Richard (Aphex) always find a way to be the "ambience" of my entire life. Sad, angry, happy, the best or the worst could happen to me and I would still be able to find comfort on them. That versatility is something I am highly grateful for. If you are 18, 19 or just discovering life, please find some time for yourself, to enjoy the little things that life throws to us in the face: Nature, people, love, music, art, you name it. Don't let external situations affect on who you are and alter your way of being. My goal in life is to be myself no matter the moment, the age or the situation. I truly wish for you to find your purpose and be happy in this branched world.
