Just for fun, painting, motorcycles, mountain biking, E-bikes, sharing my passions and just loving life.
Moravian Falls
I drove up to Moravian Falls and stayed at Hidden Hollow Cabin, well actually underneath the cabin in an apartment.
My intention was to seek the Lord in this place that has such a rich spiritual history. There was also a conference at a nearby church and that would be a bonus.
It was beautiful, but rainy and the ride up the mountain was muddy, my KIA Soul was slipping and sliding and finally stopped with the tires spinning. I backed down the hill and tried a little more momentum, it still wouldn't go. Then I checked the traction control and it wasn't turned on like I thought it was, so I activated it and this time I made it up.
All I needed was traction for one front tire and I could keep up my momentum with the traction control.
The following day was clear and beautiful, but the day after that was forcast for rain all day with flood advisory. So I cut my trip short and headed home before the mud got to bad and the creek rose to far.
It was still a good trip and I'll do it again, but not in the rain, unless I have a 4X4.
I wasn't disappointed concerning my spirit quest, two days without distractions and just seeking the Lord was good. Nothing spectacular happened, but I heard Him say, "Where ever you are, I AM!" I didn't have to make a special journey to far away places to find God, He's always with me.

New Addition to Lehigh Trail

There has been construction on a new pedestrian overpass on Highway 100 for about a year now. I knew it would connect to Lehigh Trail, but didn't know when. As I rode the eastern section of Lehigh I found the new trail open and what a pleasant surprise it was. Beautiful old growth oaks and palms, very thick forest lined the entire route to HWY 100. This wasn't one of my best rides, I made some really stupid choices and ignored safety protocols. Lesson learned and Praise God no damage done other than an inner tube. Oh Yeah, that reminds me, KTM stated that these bikes were tubeless. The tires are tubeless, but the wheels are not.

My Verex exhaust pipe finally arrived. I do a sound comparison just for curiosity sake. I changed it not for the sound so much as the free flow of the Verex, plus it's a beautiful peace of work. They say it should run cooler now, not that it was running hot before. The volume did not go up that much, it's just throatier, there's a little growl now.

She liked the painting, but not to hang in our living room. I liked it to much to try and change the palette and possibly ruin the painting, so I'll paint another one later. The rains stopped and the sun's out, it's a good day for a ride here in NE Florida. I rode to the beach the long way around and really enjoyed the beautiful afternoon light. My KTM 390 Adventure continues to impress me, I'm enjoying it more and more I'm so glad I bought it.

I went out Friday for my first ride on my 2023 KTM 390 Adventure, but it was threatening to really rain. It never did rain as hard as it looked like it would, but my mic wasn't working properly so I called it a day. I managed to salvage a little bit of the ride and a short comparison at the end. I'll try again Saturday and post the video soon.

@@growell8832 think you could find out?
Thanks for the rip 🙏 I watched and commented on your video about the templar x and your Lifan KPX. At the time, I was convinced the Templar X would be the way to go, but after this video, I'm unsure 😅😅. What would you recommend out of the 2 bikes for a new motorcycle owner 🤔. It would mostly be for commuting and a little off reading. Thanks for the video.
I personally liked the X better, but my focus wasn't on commuting. The KPX would be the better choice for a daily rider in my opinion. The KPX is more stable on the road where as the X can be a bit twitchy on the road, but much better off road.
@growell8832 awesome 👌 thanks you very much 😊. I was always wondering if you have flased your CPU on the Lifan. Seems like a lot of people have reached out to the company about the Throttle blip. Looks like the company will have you send in the CPU, or they will send you a device that will allow you to upgrade it from your computer. Also, I just subbed.
@@grendelsgarage9723 Thanks for subscribing. No, I never did anything with the CPU, I ended up selling the bike a while ago. But since then I've heard that there was a CPU fix, I knew it would happen eventually.
@growell8832 you bet, and thanks for the help!! Ride safe 🙏
Can't remember where I saw it, but one owner ground down a deep socket in order to fit it onto the cap bolt on the bike. You should mention this problem to David Cleveland. He is very responsive to customer input and might find a way to include an appropriate tool for wheel removal. Nice bike, Dude! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your comment, I do know that E-Cells customer support is very good. I just enjoy tinkering around with them myself.
Thanks for making this video 📹 answered my question on which on to get 😊😊 Templar X 🎉🎉🎉🎉
What size is the kick starter 13mm or 16mm
There is no kick starter.
Pretty sure the Templar has zero emission control on it, so it can't be registered in CA or a few other states/counties. Also, the Templar isn't a balanced shaft engine like the KPX? We have the Trailmaster 31X and while it has all the lights and such it isn't good for street riding since the engine isn't balanced and the thing will shake your teeth out. The KPX has a ECU mod, I'm just checking out the channel here you might already had done the ECU fix on the KPX. That suppose to remove the flat spot on the throttle. I like the Templar even if it doesn't have the enduro following of the KPX. I'm sure the power band you speak of in the video might have something to do with the weight of course, but also the sprocket setup. The KPX is geared higher as a dual sport. Thank for the video.
Thanks for the comments, I no longer have either bike, but much preferred the X. The Templar X was counter balanced and had very little vibration, it also had a catalytic converter, but you would never get it registered in CA. The Templar base models were 5 speed and not balanced and they do shake or so I've heard.
Just asking will the kpx right side engine cover work on the Templar X? The kpx has an oil filter right?
Just got mine 3/27/24. Really having fun on it so far! Bout 120 miles after tonight’s ride. Need to do my valve adjustment but seems like everything is running great. Changed my oil immediately. Actually twice at 75 miles just because I got board and wanted to check the wear so far. Runs great though and I’m fine not paying double for Japanese as long as this thing keeps doing what it’s doing.
you will run out... and when you do you got about 1-2 miles left on the other side
This thing rips... I got one... its impressive
Lifan makes really good bikes. My 2006 Lifan LF 20 GY 5 200cc dualsport that I bought new from a local dealer for 1650.00 OTD, has been just an excellent bike. Oil changes, batteries, tires, and valve adjustments and that is it. I will be riding it again this summer as I always have. It is now 2024. Would buy a Lifan again in a heartbeat.

Hey man I just tried getting my Templar registered in Nassau country today and they said the make only popped up as off-road, I’m going to keep trying but did you run into this problem? Thank you
Yes I did, but just keep trying different DMV's. I went to a small branch office on a Friday just before they closed. When the clerk asked me if this was a dirt bike I told her it is a dual sport and is fully equipped for the road. It wasn't a lie it is equipped for the road. Anyway she put it through and I walked out with my plate and registration a few minutes later.
@@growell8832 okay I’ll keep trying, thank you for the info!
Where to buy and does mso say dirt or street?
I went through X Pro USA and the MSO was Dirt Bike, but I requested another stating Motorcycle only and they sent it right out.
Love the videos and the Templar. Have you made any changes for the front or rear gears??
I changed the rear sprocket to a 42 tooth, it runs a lot better on the road and for me I can't tell the difference on the light dirt riding I did.

Yooo I New batter I just wanted a bike 👍 a it's not over yet my turn will come 👍 Peace lol
Where did you purchase the bike at?
X Pro USA, they did a good job.
That was a good rip at 2:10 and again at 3:40. Was this before or after the carburetor & sprocket upgrade? Do you still own this X? You make good video. 🙂👍👍
I put the carb on before I even started it and it didn't take long for me to put the 42 tooth sprocket on as well. This video was after all those mods, it was a great bike and I really liked riding it. But it went to someone who needed it more than I did. I wouldn't think twice about getting another some day.
I hear 40 pilot jet, 140 main jet, and 42t rear sprocket are the best
This is my favorite kind of channel. Thanks for sharing your joys with the world
You are welcome, thank you for watching. I like to share what I enjoy.
Approximately what is the REAR suspension travel? ... e.g. outside the shock. Thanks ...
I believe it's around 10 inches, it's sprung pretty soft, but suited me just fine.
Thanks SO much - for making the effort to estimate the rear suspension travel, which is NOT specified by the factory.@@growell8832
I no longer have the X so I can't be sure, your guess is as good as mine. Do a search on one of the forums on FaceBook and you'll probably find the answer.@@discoveror9576
I'm surprised ! May I ask why you sold it? Did you 'take a bath' on it, since it's relatively unknown?@@growell8832
I like your kpx, those look pretty good. The quality doesn't look as good but it looks smooth and I have to agree it's more for street but would make a good street runner. I'm probably going to be ordering a Templar xpro 250X within the next couple of days. I'm in Orlando maybe we can get together and ride sometime
I've actually sold the KPX and the X, I'm riding a KTM Adventure 390 now, but to tell the truth I'm not riding at all at this time. I will ride again, but for now I need to focus on other things. Between the KPX and the X, I would take the X for sure.
I don't like Florida riding. Riding up mountain or in the Midwest would much more rewarding. I been here years and haven't ridden in year, is all flat sand terrain. I'm considering getting prox 250x just because it's such a bargain and miss riding but probably use that much because of boring terrain
Looks like a nice spot. Did you wish you had your bike up there?
Yes I found a lot of MTB trails and it's a great place to ride a motorcycle.
It's running lean.. might need to adjust the air screw in a little...
After some research I am totally set on buying one of these. I have a good trail bike already (KLX300R), but I want to buy one of these and convert it to a supermoto for around town commuting.
That would be fun.

I just ordered some generic ones from Amazon, I had to tweek them a bit to get the right fit, but they worked good. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJKLWC98/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
see you've been running around with the choke on ...blue pipe mean choke on say big chief of Kawasaki tribe
The KPX is fuel injected and is running very lean, but there's no way to change it, that's why I sold it. The X has a remote choke next to the clutch and no I do not ride with the choke on.
Nice rental! My favorite was the stream. Beautiful ❤
Thanks Judy, there's a cabin for rent that's right on the stream, I might try that next time.
What company did you buy it from and was it a good buying experience? Does anybody have any recommendations?
I bought from X-Pro USA, and it was a very good buying experience. Delivery from CA to FL was as I recall within a week or so. The MCO they sent was "Off road motorcycle" and I asked them to send another with "Motorcycle" only and they did immediately. You want "Motorcycle" to make it easier for street registration, it will still be listed as "Off road motorcycle in the computer, but I told them it was a dual sport and fully equipped for the road. That is the truth!
@@growell8832 thank you so much for taking the time to let me know! I think these will be fun! I’m going to change out the card when I get it out of the box and I think I’ll put the Nibbi ignition in! Again thank you so much for taking the time very much appreciated for all the information!

I seen that you got rid off your templer x can you tell us why please did something happen to it or did something break on it i would like to know due to my order pending???
There was nothing wrong with it at all, it was running great I just didn't have time to ride it anymore so it went to some one who needed another dirt bike.
It's doesn't have a kickstarter also?
No neither of them have a kick starter.
Hey there, Noticed you're in FL. How hard was it to get this plated? I'm planning on buying one once the funds come up, and it mostly will be used for offroad, but would be cool to have the option to take it onroad as well.
It wasn't hard, make sure your paper work says "motorcycle" only. If not you can request another from the seller.
How was it to get it tagged in Florida I am looking at one and wanted to know if it was difficult? I am also in Florida
Not hard at all, just make sure MCO says motorcycle and not off road motorcycle. If you have problems with one DMV just try another, the clerk asked me if this was an off road motorcycle and I told her it is a dual sport and fully equipped for the street. She accepted that and a few minutes later I walked out the door with tag and title.
How available are parts for these ?
I never had to buy any parts, if you go to this Facebook group they have a lot of comments on availability and other useful information, just do a search on whatever you're looking for. facebook.com/groups/552978972854443/
Do you have to have your motorcycle endorsement in Florida to register your bike. Mine comes in tomorrow never got one though
I don't recall having to show them my license to get mine registered. But it's a real good idea to get the training, I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Just don't do it in the middle of Summer like I did, but even with the heat and sun I enjoyed it.
The KTM 390 ADV seems like a very capable machine, and now you will have even more power! Will you keep the X Pro Templar, maybe just for exploring around in the dirt? Thank you for sharing you upgrades!
I fully intended to keep the X, but I ended up getting rid of it. I'll get another dirt bike in the future, I'm not sure which one.
Thank you for sharing the review GROWELL! This looks like the adjustable/upgraded suspension model, how does the bike feel out on the trail? It to too soft for average American rider (@ 200 lbs)?
It's pretty soft, I never adjusted it because it suited me for the slow riding I do. It wouldn't be up to aggressive riding without adjusting. I was happy with the way it handled on the road and in the dirt, it's nice and light and very responsive to steering input which makes it a bit twitchy on the road, but once you get used to it, I never noticed anymore. One thing that needs to be mentioned is that it is sensitive to ruts and lines in the pavement because of the quick handling. Just keep your eyes on the road and avoid or be ready for them. By that I mean don't freak out if it shakes it's head a little bit.
Can't wait till the day I can have one of these boxes delivered
Same bro saving for one!
Getting one too
Just ordered mine!
Man I'm really digging these ride along videos. Keep 'em coming!
Thank you for the encouragement, I'll be posting some new videos soon.
I recently got this same bike and I love it. Thank you for posting all these bike videos. Next, I'm in between the Templar X and the KPX 250.
Thank you for the comment, If you like the dirt go with the X, if you want a more street oriented bike go for the KPX. But the X for me was the better bike and about half the price, you just have to get an after market carb (Nibbi 30mm) and jet it. The KPX fuel injection is really lean and there's no way to adjust it so it has a bog off of the bottom when you accelerate. I got used to it and rode around it, but still prefer the power delivery of the X.
@@growell8832 appreciate that feedback. I would like a carb to be able to wrench it more.
Nice ride. Which did you like more, the Templar X or the KPX 250?
I preferred he Templar X, I liked it's light weight and torque, but it's a lot more of a dirt bike than a street bike. As you could see it's road worthy, but it's a good dirt bike. If I had bought the X first I wouldn't have bought the KPX.
The mans got Soul, thats for sure. Hope you enjoy the bike!
I bought the first one as a cheap commuter, but with a 6 speed manual trans it's fun to drive. We liked it so much when it came time to get my wife a car we bought another. I sold the KPX about a year ago, it was a pretty good bike but not for me.

@@growell8832 i appreciate it, did you get your Templar registered and did it have to say motorcycle on the title? And I’m sorry to hear that I hope your life changes are for the better, best of luck to you.
Yes I did get it registered and I did have to have Motorcycle on the paperwork the manufacturer sent me, I believe it's called an MCO. I still had to go to 2 DMV's to get it done, but if you keep trying it will happen. My wife recently passed away and I can't call it good, but with the Lord's help I'll get through it.
