    Very informative, but maybe you can provide a solution for me. I have a Goal Zero Nomad 14 plus that I picked up from someone. It has a splitter with 2 connections (1 an 8mm female plus which is used to daisy chain, but the the other is not an 8mm male plug) it is a 3 pin female output (kind of looks like an audio XLR plug). I cannot find an adapter to convert the 3 pin female to an 8mm male so that I can connect the Goal Zero USB adapter which has an 8mm female connector on it. Do you think I can splice the 3pin to 8mm male adapter for my situation? Thx for any advice.

    If you lower the pickup it helps tame the boomy sounds, and provides more clarity. I like pickups well away from the strings, which also helps with picking. Farther away you hear more of the guitar, closer to the strings more of the pickup. I got mine used, came with a Gibson P-90 already installed, and graphtech bridge I may change back to rosewood. These are really nice guitars, with a nice chunky neck, smooth satin finish, and 25 1/12" scale.

    Hi, I’m searching for a way to use my pv wires that are on my solar panel and somehow connect them to an 8mm dc male plug, so I can charge my jackery. I’ve looked at solar wire connectors and they are too short for my application. I’m wondering how to get the 2 wires into one.

    • @ChasingtheTwist
      @ChasingtheTwist Před rokem

      The easiest, and potentially safest, is to go with something like this MC4 to 8mm adapter amzn.to/43WUtzx I don't know how your current wires are terminated but the MC4 is a very common connector for solar and easy enough to add to cables if they bare or have some other connector. Best of luck.

    Easiest way to customize the extension cable. 1) Make your own with anderson 30amp connector on one end. The other end with mc4. 2) take 8mm extension cable and add anderson connector on the other end. Best wire to use are the 12awg landscape lighting wire

    You would do better to reduce the stress on the rack rails . That can cause fracture. Same with outer spokes when I lace wheels. It does not want to lay flat. You can leave it under stress, but the wheel will fail over time. We use a soft hammer to bend the J-bend at the hub flange. Nice install. Thanks

    • @ChasingtheTwist
      @ChasingtheTwist Před rokem

      Thanks for the comment. Can you help me understand how one might reduce the stress on the rack rails?

    • @tigerone2353
      @tigerone2353 Před rokem

      @@ChasingtheTwist simple, yes. Just loosen only the two bolts on the two braze on's. Leave the rack rail bolts alone. Then use your hands to simply bend one rail at a time until it stays naturally at the braze on point. This way there is no more stress anywhere. Without bending the rails act as a "spring " under tension. I have 45 years experience as a professional bicycle mechanic. Installed so many Topeak racks. Have one on my track bike 😊. Note: after bending rails , recheck all 6 bolts for tightness

    If you like the Tone Job, you can try to push the drive pedal with a Z Drive on lower gain but higher volume settings. It's actually made by EQD. The EQ is useful to over or under drive your broadcast just like the tone Job.

  • @ozzie444
    @ozzie444 Před 2 lety

    Your RackAttach is from 1UP but your rack doesn't look like a 1UP, at least how the new 1UP racks are made, since this video is 3 years old. Probably a true 1UP new rack might fit closer and tighter to the rear of the vehicle. The RackAttach you've reviewed seems to fit very securely and the attachments that prevent it from wobbling around appear to do the job very well. I'm probably going to get a 1UP or a QuikRack Mach2. I believe the QuikRack is even a bit better than the 1UP but there's a minimum 6 month backup on delivery due to demand and also shortage of materials to the manufacturer.

      Thanks. I hadn’t ever really thought about hands or attack being more suited for a particular style of guitar but it makes sense. I bought my first strat six months ago or so because I wanted that position-4 sound. As for the speaker, in the room the Alnico is a clear winner for me and it feels a lot more spongy, in a good way. If I'm happy with the Drive in question ( Using the CTC Falcon now, mostly ), I usually place boosts or shaping pedals AFTER them ,to maintain volume and gain levels in different spaces.I like the Supro Boost ,as it has expression pedal control, and doubles as an excellent volume pedal .However, it's EQ ability is very limited, so the Tone Job has become the current go to. The Sidecar has a very cool but different break up characteristic from the Broadcast, and it's a hell of a pair to have at once; personally ,I'd run it Broadcast/ Sidecar/ Tonejob, to allow all possible flavors.This way, the Broadcast remains more dominant if used with the SC, and the TJ can easily re shape either Drive,- without adding unnecessary gain and compression. Maxxon has a very solid EQ among their re releases; night and day difference from MXR or Boss.There are many pedals similar to the Katana, - Greer makes some varied options and Treble Booster variants,- and ,besides the Emissary, Walrus make several similar boost/ tone shapers.Hard to beat the EQD, IMO.

    • @ChasingtheTwist
      @ChasingtheTwist Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the comment Mark. I’m currently running the Jackson Audio Bloom v2 into the Broadcast into the Browne Protein. The Protein I have the gains turned on just enough to retain the brightness. The Bloom I mostly use as a compressor but also the EQ and boost in certain situations, mostly to compensate for different pickups and/or guitars. Thanks again

    Ok I have a question about 12” speaker choice for a PR style amp, just curious if any experts out there can help! So here’s what’s going on-I play burstbuckers through a Firebelly PR3512SE which is a PR type circuit but with 35 watts, a 12” speaker, a master volume, increased headroom, a bigger cab, a mids control and a mids boost foot switch in back of amp. I got this amp to play clean tones at higher volume in a band setting AND also to be able to use more boost/overdrive/distortion-things I couldn’t/shouldn’t do with my 1966 Princeton Reverb. The firebelly theoretically checks all the boxes for what I, personally, need without straying too far from my beloved vintage Princeton. The problems is the firebelly has pretty bad sounding bass and mids. So the cool mids control and a mids boost footswitch are only cool in theory but not so much in practice. I want these features to live up to their potential. Im hoping that replacing the Jensen 12Q will do the trick. (The vintage amp I’ve been recommended the celestion vintage 30. The $ isn’t a big factor so I am thinking maybe the celestion gold, or maybe the celestion blue. Any recommendations or advice or corrections or knowledge i very much welcome! Thank you Gracias and thank you again!

    • @ChasingtheTwist
      @ChasingtheTwist Před 2 lety

      I, unfortunately, don’t have any experience with 12” speakers. I really like the Celestion Lanico Gold 10” though. Best of luck.

    • @slizz_detroit
      @slizz_detroit Před 2 lety

      @@ChasingtheTwist Thanks anyways, what is it that you like about the gold? I think 10 inch speakers sound the best, but I need to power to play with a band and not have speaker break up all the time. At some point maybe for recording I might put a new 10" speaker in my vintage PR, I'm not a big fan of Jensens as it turns out but I'm not really playing the PR necessarily how it was intended. Looking for tighter bass and less extreme brightness (my pickups aren't doing any me favors on the high end side, so that is also a factor...this whole thing is a rabbit whole). thanks again!

    • @ChasingtheTwist
      @ChasingtheTwist Před 2 lety

      The 10” Gold has a really nice midrange with just a bit of compression/squish that sounds so buttery to me. It is true that it doesn’t handle a ton of bass very well. But I really like it in my Princeton. I have an Eminence alnico in another Princeton which is much more mid-scooped and sometimes a little too brittle up top. Let me know what you end up with.

    I have a Nash T63 with a Lollar vintage neck and special bridge. Callaham bridge that I bought machined for a Bigsby but ended up taking the Bigsby off. Too busy, arm too close to the switch. The bridge had holes to use it as a top loader. That guitar doesn't get touched, I'm not changing a thing. I wanted an open, woody sound and it's an absolutely perfect happy accident. To me, the Lollar pickup is much more articulate and showed off more tone. Nice video. Lollars are note cheap but you get what you pay for. I found the company very easy to talk to. I had to purchase 2 pickups and they cost me $280.00 plus tax. I am not sorry as they are fantastic.

    The guitar and pickups sound beautiful. The old ones were pretty nice, but the Lollars are cleaner and not shooting all sorts of mixed tones out, as the first ones were.

    I’ve purchased two of the disc brake mtx racks. One was for a foldable bike (1.75”x 24” wheels) and one goes on my gravel bike (2”x650B wheels). This rack allows me to accommodate the specific mtx rear bag for commuting trips and light weight grocery pick up. The side rails also allow regular touring panniers (30-40 litre) to be installed and can support rear rack loads (tent, etc) using bungee cord tie down. I got the disc brake version just in case it needed rear stay clearance for the disc brake unit on both bikes.This rack allowed space for wider 24”x 1.75” and 2”x650b tires respectively, and it places regular panniers further back to help avoid heal interference while pedalling. However for the foldable bike I have to completely remove the rack to get both bike and rack into case (a great deal of gymnastics is required to stuff same rack into the case). I have a special folding rear rack but it doesn’t accommodate the topeak mtx bag and not as hardy for load support.
