These weight 12,0kg per piece. They are pretty much standard weight for low pressure cast wheels that have 780kg maximum load. Or closer to middle class in weight scale. Seems like closer the weight was of the stock 255/45r19 tires which is around 25kg per wheel better the results were. Lighter tires got worse results. So based on this test method narrower tires don't work better for this kind of smooth shaking test. On the road the 195/60r18 have been much more comfort oriented than stock 255/45r19 tires. Actual load carrying capacity increases, but the structure of the rubber cannot withstand more cornering loads. In most cases the wheel accidents happens when driving to potholes so there you will get more protection for your wheels by selecting wider wheels. If your tire flexes more you can make your car ride softer with narrower tire. Like most people think suspension is too hard with the stock Model Y 255/45R19 tires. I think from Netherlands or denmark you can buy a adaptor for other pressure accumulator egg. Try googling 3l pressure accumulator adaptor

Our model Y,23 has low profile 19" tires. They sidewalls are easily slashed on curb stones. Would a high profile tire be less prone to sidewall damage? Thanks

Very interesting. I would want a slightly taller tire just for ride comfort on bad roads. Currently have the stock Gemini wheels with 245/45/R19.
Will 18x8” ET30 205/60/18 fit good on a Y Performance?
At the moment there is only a winter tire in the market in that 205/60r18 size. 18x8et30 sits 4mm more in to fender 205/60r18 tire outer edge is 15mm inwards 225/60r18 sits same place as oem sr model y tire outer edge. That's why you should take out the overflow nipple so you can actually see a leak when there is problems with the pump or it's seals.
The Michelin e.primacy should be a little bit better than than Continental EcoContact?
Rolling is best in e primacy, but in one magazine test ecocontact was still better in consumption. But I don't fully trust that test.

If you have same turbo on 1.2tdi or 1.4tdi and similar size injectors it works lupo, or a2 or any other body.
I have an idea for you. Add threading to the center of the wheel and then create a 1 piece unit that screws into the outer center hub of the wheel. This would make it a simple to add or remove

By the way, I completely understand your reasoning for making smaller wheels but will there be a 20" wheel option for those who want the larger wheel duplicating the same design and aero inserts? I have been trying to find an option like this and only found one thus far and I didn't like their design.
20" can be made forged and glued inserts like these protowheels. Weigth will be little bit higher, but that is the case always with bigger wheels. Would guess 20" would be around 10-12kg depending on the width etc.

Is this safe?
If done correctly, read the description. You need laser cutted or machined plate that matches you hub center diameter and bolt pattern. If new bolt pattern is smaller you are always on safer side. So from 5x112 to 5x100 is safer. It you go bigger you need to evaluate your cars weight and how fast you are going to drive and corner with it and make some fem calculations. If bolt holes are not perfectly aligned it will start to bend the bolts, which is not good. If new wheel centers to hub, then it's relatively safe. Just tension the bolts little by little and you migth need to use little higher tension for the bolts. When bolts are not perfectly centered they get looser easier. I drove 140kmh short distances just with bolts without centering rings. But I take no responsibility what you do Best results and easier task to do this if bearing is loose before installation to car.
What does the % rebound mean?
It's percentage value how much % of the time wheel is in contact of that shaker test plate (read road)

@@gbigfoot71 hard work, dedication and extra effort. 6.5x17et50 mb vito steelies fit with about 30mm 5x114 to 5x112 spacers. So 6.5x17et20, note that most 17 steelies won't fit even with spacers and no aluminum 17" will fit unless you swap model 3 small brakes and dust shields which are bolt on mod.

Idle fuel consumption probably does not mean best overall fuel consumption. Now that you have driven it, how is your actual fuel consumption? I have heard that -2.5 is best for fuel economy.
I have tested this at 100km/h speed in my test route and test consumption ecu program. In the program injection values are locked to certain level and I measure time for certain test length. Works at least in my program, and many who have stock program have seen also lower consumption figures.
Recuperation is the best thing for automobiles 🙌 I like how you efficiently use the swing, even though - in my modest opinion - this is not always applicable in real world conditions, especially in city traffic with aggresive drivers around....

Some questions: what speedometer did you use, an gps or a mechanic/electric that the car has? I mean as tire size differs, it would affect the later one. Have an periferal calculation of the length of the tire circumference, diameter of the rim plus twice the height of the width times the profile and all times Pi. Making an example look like this in a formula =((18*25,4)+(2*(255*0.45))*PI()) this will give you the circumreference of a tire in mm. Good job in though conditions, I take it the Hakka R5 is the newest non studded tire? I just bought studded Hakka 10 SUV 235 65 16" for my Volvo XC 90 and they are great... but expensive, but safety has no price, the ones that the car had where "air matresses" Good luck!
First we check diameters with willtheyfit.com. Here remember winter tires have 8-9mm thread when new. Those 225/60r18 are 2.08% bigger and those 255/55r18 are 3.47% but they are more worn so diameter/speedo error was same between these 2 other sizes. So we use GPS speeds and then take error into account in the consumptions as tesla does not correct their meters based on tire size. Distance is fixed for consumption.
Hakka =hakkapeliitta shortened In finnish and Yes the R5 is latest generation of it from Nokian tyres. Ev version has a foam inside, just like the model y hankook 255/45r19 tires have from factory.

I think what really helped with the fuel consumption is the small wheel size "R16" is like (Golf,Passat) size that's the thing that helped the most in my opinion.

You mean 20" uberturbines to Model Y? I would guess it migth get same consumption with good LRR rubber. I would look 195/55R20 size tires. and your country regulations for loads. In theory those could meet regulations in some country. In europe you can install 50mm narrower tire without inspection. Full car GAVR is met with those, but rear axle max mass will be limited to 1380kg. 205/55R19 size would be better option in 19" size there load is only limited to 1450kg at the rear.

It won't make the ride much softer if that is your goal? I am preparing a video on the ride hardness impact. You should have 225 wide or narrower to be able to notice different in ride softness. Impact to consumption is minimal by going just one sidewall higher. Rideheigth gain will hurt, but bigger tires you put, fill your wheel wells and arches closer and it will help. Also taller tire diameter helps. So roughly +-0 impact to consumption.

Hi, i have now fulda 165/65 on pepper pots, myp gearbox, and struts kw suspension. Engine still oem amf type with no upgrates. Car weights about 1150kg becouse i ad alu butyl mats around hole car. Much better for a daily. Avg have 4.2l but when traveling to germany for work from Poland to Leipzig, im getting around 3-3.5/100km. Around 80-95 perform the best till 2100 rpm depends but it feels underpowered. Looking foward for some litres...
