Garry Chalk IS an amazing Optimus. If Peter Cullen wasn't around anymore, I'd daresay Garry is THE Optimus. I'll always resent Hasbro for not allowing him to do more with this franchise--especially in Rise of the Beasts.

im sorry, but personally, i say FUCK EARTHSPARK THANK GOD THAT THIS SHOW IS ENDING they just dumbed down the best characters in the franchise, and they made OPTIMUS PRIME a side character to highlight the new characters. I wouldnt have an issue with that, if they actually made the characters interesting. they dont really have traits, theyre just gimmick characters. theyre soulless. and honestly we all know the only reason why megatron is a good guy is cuz he would kill the fucking terrans in the first episode. this show doesnt even seem to have a clear direction, shits just happening until the finale. Sure, there are kinda character arcs, but they barely show the effects of those arcs on the characters, if not at all. but i agree that they need to add Jhiaxus. this show needs to have something else unique about itself other than forced new main characters. your ideas are also very good, and i would have loved to see this. but unfortunately, like i said, the shows ending. hopefully the next series does better.

This is the Optimus I grew up with. Wish he could come back as Optimus.

There's been a few crossovers with both Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal. Why they didn't bring back Garry Chalk for Primal, I will never understand.

The feeling that I always got with Chalktimus was that he wanted to be a fun, joke-cracking, father-to-his-men type of leader, but his men always take him waaaaay too seriously and have too much respect for him to go along with it

I thought the Quintessons created Unicron and Prime when they couldn’t control Unicron, they created smaller Autobots and Decepticons with what little metal, resources and energy they had left after creating Unicron and Prime. That’s why they used big cannons and big ships to fight Unicron. The Quintessons got into their ships abandoned and fleed when Prime and the Autobots and Decepticons were losing to Unicron. Then something interesting happened Prime went against his programming of self survival, sacrificed himself to defeat Unicron the first time causing Unicron to hurdle uncontrollably through space. With Primes last breath objectives. He transferred his memories and information into a matrix of leadership since Autobots are a descendent of Prime they can use the matrix of leadership, Decepticons are a descendent of Unicron. The rest of what was Prime became Cybertron the planet. Which the Decepticon & Autobots made home they inhabited fighting over the planet’s scares energy and resources of Cybertron. Then this all leads to G1.

Hot damn I'd love for Kaye to have another go at voicing Megatron. If this video is anything to go by he's only gotten better at it over the years.

I'm not old enough to have watched the OG Transformers when it was in syndication (but I have watched re-runs when I was little in the early 90s) I am happy to have watched the entirety of Transformers: Beast Wars when it was in syndication and it's one of my favorite iterations of Transformers aside from G1 and Transformers Armada and Robots in Disguise animes of which I also watched in the early 2000s when they came out.

As someone who watched both the original Transformers and Beast Wars in different stages of childhood I love both of these guys, but I have to have a little bit more respect for Garry Chalk because of the way he’s willing to call out the poor treatment of the Optimus Prime character in the Michael Bay films. I was more than a little disappointed when Peter agreed to do lines that even he said he was not comfortable with. To me it lacked resolve, not in line with Optimus Prime at all. But at an adult level I understand why he did it. These movies pay very well and he is accruing a very impressive nest egg for his family I’m sure. Either way they’re both legends.

Garry Chalk doesn't get the recognition he deserves for voicing Optimus Prime. I grew up on the G1 series, and will always have luv for Peter Cullens Optimus Prime. When I hear Garry Chalks Optimus...his voice has a radiance to it, that is firm, warm, and commanding. When you hear him, you believe this is Optimus Prime...next to Peter Cullens portrayal. Amazing talent!!!

Controversial take: but I actually prefer Garry Chalk as Optimus Prime compared to the newer (Bayformers-onward) renditions by Peter Cullen (though the G1 Peter Cullen voice is still best overall). Reason being that in my interpretation, Optimus Prime should sound middle-aged, and current Peter Cullen renditions sound a bit TOO old to fully work for me (Optimus sounded younger in G1), especially since modern writers forget that Optimus Prime in G1 had a sense of humor and was capable of being warm, caring, friendly, etc…something that Cybertron Optimus Prime absolutely NAILS, but Bayformers-onward (except Animated-though I would compare Animated Optimus more to Orion Pax) renditions COMPLETELY miss the mark on. I think one potential good approach might be to have Garry Chalk as Optimus Prime and Peter Cullen as Alpha Trion, or something like that.

I was a Unicron Trilogy era kid who owned G1 DVDs and loved both in different ways. They’re both different yet valid takes. Cullen is more of a strong yet gentle father who is pretty good at convincing you that he has all the answers. Chalk always struck me more as an anime warrior of justice and a leader of a band of heroes. They are both Optimus Prime.

Ok.. i am a fan of Gen-1 Jazz, and Mirage! I didn't really care for Mike B.'s versions of Jazz (a Pontiac?! Come on! Dir ine, and being killed..ugh). Also, Dino/Mirage is .. i don't even know. Definitely not any Mirage i imagine! Are they cool for the demographic audience for the time? Sure! I even have a S.S. series Dino in my collection because the alt mode is slick. Ok back in subject! I love the character that Pete Davidson brought to the table. He makes me think of a younger Autobot more aling the lines of R.I.D.'s Sideburn. I think he's a fresh new take on the name. Great job, Pete! Oh, one last thing, he does change his alt mode into that if a nire Gen-1 version if himself saying he'll get Noah some money and that was a cool homage to old school fans. Just don't get me started on Wheeljack.. i refuse to use his likeness in my Studio Series scene. I use tge Bumblebee movie Wheeljack, and Arcee for now.

Good reason. But I would prefer him alongside Nova Prime, with Nova not only being the ruthless expansionist, but a supremacist that considers the Terrans as abominations. Jhiaxus, like in IDW would be a scientist even more deranged than Shockwave.

Really appreciate this video. I was shocked how much negativity was out there. I think this was better than the last series other than maybe the first season. But i liked both genuinely overall. I just naturally lost a little steam as the first series progressed.

I started with Armada, so I've always liked Garry. After Cybertron I got into the original series and the movies, I came to also like Peter. I find both Garry and Peter to be tied as the best voices of Optimus Prime. One day, I would like to see Garry reprise the role.
