It's kills me how Kirk was the star of the show and was this "born again christian". He pretended to be the moral compass of the show and used his religion as a form of control so he can have his final say so when it came to what ideas the producers and the writers wanted on the show. But somehow he kept quiet about the fat jokes the writers kept putting in the script? 🤔

Kirk Cameron should be ashamed of himself for agreeing to do all of those jokes. He had no problem playing moral authority when he got his love interest fired for appearing in Playboy, but he has no problem doing those jokes which drove poor Tracey Gold to that. He is still a pig.
That was so sad. You'd think somebody would've been conscious enough to take the unnecessary "fat" jokes early on.

Growing Pains is the greatest family sitcom and greatest show ever! It's funny and serious the acting is pacing is great it has fun storylines the cinematography and production value is great it looks like it was made years in advanced it was ahead of it's time. And it has a meta fourth wall episode called Meet the Seavers that's very creative and all well done. It's seriously the perfect show!
I've never seen or even heard about this before. Oh man...oh man. I'm hurtin'. That is so funny. I don't even like Kirk Cameron these days, and that was hilarious and fun. Thank you for uploading this. "(the one in the middle is real.)" I DIED.

Jeremy Miller has admitted in interviews that he and Kirk Cameron relentlessly "tortured Tracy Gold on this show"...Did it ever occur to him that their constant teasing might have been part of why she became anorexic?
It's an excellent question. I wonder if Miller has ever addressed that.

@@ulegendsrevealed Also according to Julie whom now has a southern accent Kirk was smitten when he first met her signing autographs for Playboy magazine along side tv dad Alan Thicke. Now was this before or after he became a born again Christian. Kirk was actually the one whom invited Julie to the set of Growing Pains to watch live taping. She was spotted by producers whom were looking for someone to portray a Nanny. Julie said yes and again at the time Kirk seemed happy for her and continued to court her until the Playboy thing came about. As I said Kirk already knew she posed for Playboy. So the whole thing about him calling to have her fired doesn't add up?! I know Kirk said he didn't have a hand in Julie being fired as her character was temperary anyway. The season 5 episode when Mike see's Julie as a waitress at a restaurant with his new girlfriend Kate was really hard for Julie whom wasn't acting because she was forced to comeback to film that episode because she was still under contract. Kirk however had a hand in the original producers being fired and saying that they were promoting porn LOL! Maybe even the late Matthew Perry short and abrupt exit from the show!? Not long after Mike went from being a bum to becoming a school teacher LOL! That's when shoe horn kid Leonardo DiCaprio joined the cast! 🤔🙄🤨🙆

Beginning to question why I loved this show as a kid. Seems awful now on so many levels. 😳
Geez, what was wrong with the writers on this show? One, fat shaming has never been okay to me no matter who it is and two, she was never fat. Glad she was able to get help and I hope she's doing okay today.
I grew up during the 80s, and making fat jokes about teenage girls who weren’t actually fat was a very common trope in 80s sitcoms. Today, people are a bit more enlightened, and understand how cruel and unfunny this is. Tracey Gold was really hurt by these jokes even though they were directed at her character, not her, which led her to become anorexic.

Yeah, it's so incredibly messed up.
I’m old enough to remember the original run, and now we are showing the DVD’s to our kids. What’s sad is that so far in the first season there was none of this and their relationship was sweet AND funny. I remember watching her get sicker in later seasons, and now as a Mom I am furious for her as a character and especially as a person! Whoever signed off on those jokes was inhumane! It didn’t even make sense after a while she was clearly underweight and they still stuck with the same rude jokes. Tracey Gold is one strong, amazing woman!
