Gem Twist wins first (of three!) AGA Horse of the Year titles
Here at the 1987 Cadillac AGA Championship, Greg Best wins the class with Gem Twist (against Rodney Jenkins in the 2nd round) clinching the title of AGA Rookie of the Year for himself, and AGA Horse of the Year for Gem.
It's worth noting that Greg had the highest earnings of any ROTY in AGA history.... while Laura Chapot, in 1995, would have the second highest, also aboard the incredible Gem Twist.

Chris Kappler & Seven Wonder, in their legendary clean round in the 1995 American Invitational! The only horse to win it under different riders, the only time I'd been won without a jumpoff, on a course whose final combination ("Olympic Rings" to Roman Aqueduct) nearly destroyed all other competitors! Enjoy!!!

@ImmortalSynn do you know who the male narrator in the first clip is, alongside Gina Johnson?
Ken Broo.
50 years for me being a CUBS fan!!
Why do they need to register voters? Do poor people not have access to the DMV?
if I were a horse, I wouldn't have jumped that crazy-looking jump either!
This horses is amazing I know all about him and his riders

OMFG thats disgusting
lol this is actually hilarious 😂
very convenient to go nonstop. Just wish it didn't get to London at noon.
Same aircraft turnaround, and they wanted the westbound to leave later for possibility of cnnx, so sorta has to happen.
Louisiana needed it, because it optimizes the number of Euro-side connections. The New York, L.A., Boston, etc flights that can fill a widebody to London on their own, can sustain the early morning and/or late evening arrivals.
The announcers are kind of idiots.
She was so good during this whole thing!
and the song headline "One moment in time" is that exactly what he is teaching these days in his clinics in internet "all the time" ...ha ha ha.... greetings from Germany , he is a great teacher and what would i give to have a lesson with him!!!!
Hey, just wondering if there is any chance that you could find a video of Beth Underhill's 2nd place win with Altair in the Du Maurier International 1999 @ Spruce Meadows. I was a young fan of hers and remember watching Altair give it his all when I was a kid.
Probably not. I'll look, but I doubt I have any. Most of my '90s videos are 1994-1998, as I then went to college and didn't have my VCR and taping equipment with me thereafter.
I've been looking for footage of Altair as well. Such a brief career but he was brilliant.
Incredible performance, but I wish the commentators would SHUT UP!!! All the yacking spoiled it!! Its like when I was at a Cavalia show and all the self-proclaimed know-it-all horse experts in the audience wouldnt shut the f$%k up as if they were Olympic level judges.
Despite the awesome screenname, I can tell that you're young.... American announcers HAD to talk through competitions like this in the '80s and '90s, when the horse sports first began to appear on TV in this country, because the overwhelming majority of the audience had NO IDEA what they were watching.
Is that a hackamore
Shadowfax!! (Gandolf's horse in LOTR)
They both seem like the perfect match. How sad he lost him but I bet he lived a really good life
Now that horse can jump
This is my mares Daddy💕💕 wowo she’s amazing
Amazing jumping!
Horse had his ears flat most of the way round. Something not right. Wouldn't surprise me if there was some pain involved in ensuring he hops as high as he does. Didn't like to watch him
This is one horse...like others I've known....who puts his ears back at an angle to listen and pay concentration to what his rider is telling him. They are not pinned back in anger. Huge difference!
I remember this, god it feels like yesterday. I wonder what was going through his head at the time.
So much spring❤❤😜
WTH WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?
Ever thought to, oh I dunno, ***READ*** the video's information section? I mean, that's sorta what it's there for.
Remarkable horse he needs to guard that horse with his life many will want such a horse. Truly is a magnificent animal
Pinned ears can mean a lot of things besides discomfort. E.g. that the horse is listening to the rider or that wind is blowing into their ears.
Even rides with a hackamore 😀❤
That first jump is HUGE!
Ten years later. Still one of the most amazing horses ever
No joke my jaw dropped for this video, I have never seen any horse jump so... perfectly
Tinha q ser BR ne kkkk
Murphy himself was a stunning horse.
Proof that those 11-13,000' runways are unnecessary (for low elevated areas).
Not necessarily. Plenty of other factors involved: terrain clearance, precipitation/contamination, temperature, humidity, etc etc. This flight is was departing a place that's relatively cool, consistent winds, below sea level, and only flying about 60% of its available range (and thus relatively lightly loaded with fuel), and the runway was dry. Were it departing for a longer flight, at higher temps, with the runways wet/rainy, then it would've required significantly more available runway. And that's a 787. There are aircraft that don't have particularly great runway (distance) performance, e.g. 739ERs, due to their rotational issues and the like.

At first I was like WHAT??? And now it looks like it would feel good but hurt so bad if that makes any sense XD
OMG i almost cried watching it made me so sad to see this and why exactly did you guys do this?
Are you illiterate? Read the information box before whining about something you clearly know nothing about.... it explains the whole therapy.
Wouldn't you agree...this horse defied gravity. .....literally.......
" CRUISING (ISH) " stood 16.1 hh ( 1.65 m ). Not small. Cruising was Deep. meaning deep bodied (girth), like 1980 (alternative) Olympics Gold medalist ""GLADSTONE"". Hugo Simone, a German, rode for Austria. Hugo & Gladstone were the 1st to win the Volvo World Cup Final (1979). At that Alternative Olympics (which was a full sized Olympic track/course), the Olympic Silver went to a great Irish horse ridden by a great rider: Ryan's Son & John Whitaker. There is no record on the internet of who won the 1980 Olympic Bronze ?!! In Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
My signature pass (a double not a triple) in 1994.
and using a hackamore amazing!
