How to install architectural foam boarders, shapes, molds, or details around windows
In this DIY video you will learn how to install foam architectural shapes, pop-outs, molds, details, or boarders around windows and do it yourself. In a recent re-stucco we removed wood citing and the retro fit windows stuck out to far. To blend in the windows we added foam boarders.

    I am confused about 2 things. How come there is no drip rail flashing over the top of the windows? I would guess it rains from time to time. Secondly, the detail mesh is designed to anchor the accent trim to the field around the window & door openings. In the window example shown, it should be troweled into the field, then once the decorative trim is added, pulled over the trim and cemented in place over the trim. Right? That’s what training we receive In the upper Midwest. Oh, well. A dozen way to do it but by embedding the mesh, this help hold the trim in high winds or debris much less water if it gets behind the trim and freezes, it will push it off. Just my constructive criticism or observations by the way we do it in the states further North especially! Thanks for the skill and hard work shown. Thank you kindly.

    Ok so I got A question what did you end up doing to the fiber mesh hanging on the outside of the foam??? float it in? cut it off? you didnt film any of that.Thanks

    • @dauntefriends5832
      @dauntefriends5832 Před 4 lety

      We restuccoed the whole house...the extra mesh was covered with the foam prep cement, floated, allowed to dry, then was glued along with the rest of the wall before the finish coat...if the entire wall doesn't need to be restuccoed you can cut it where it meets with the wall, but feathering the mesh out creates a stronger boarder

    What did you say the foam prep was made of? The foam prep was basically ???. You said something, but the wind cut the audio.

    • @dauntefriends5832
      @dauntefriends5832 Před 4 lety

      There are many types of foam prep available depending on where you live...i think in this video we used foam magic, but any dry polymer modified cementitious material will do...ci base, polybond, and base x are examples of other materials that we use for this application that all work around the same way
