One Mile More

The name "One Mile More" is inspired by the Bible passage Matt 5:41. In it Jesus says "If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two". The way I understand it, in that time a Roman soldier could tell a civilian to carry his pack, which contained his gear, (and weighed around 66 lbs) a mile and the civilian was required by law to do so. You may have heard it said to "go the extra mile" with some task. I get this wrong more often than I'd care to admit, but my aspiration with this life is to do the best I can (the extra mile) with what I've been given to bring glory to God. Hopefully through my various projects, travel and likely screwing around, with this CZcams channel I can inspire others to do the same. Plus, with my love of traveling, it just sounds cool.
$2500 Versys 650 to the Arctic - ep2 Tuktoyaktuk
In this video I ride my $2500 2016 Kawasaki Versys 650 past the Arctic Circle to Tuktoyaktuk at the top of Northwest Territories Canada and on the Arctic Ocean. Along the way, I stop at Dawson City to replace my front tire with a Continental TKC 80 to ease my way up the Dempster Highway and then ride the Alaska Highway home.

I bought a 2016 Kawasaki Versys 650 for $2500. In this video, I use a combination of parts from Givi, SW Motech, V Stream, Seat Concepts, Delkevic, Puig, Touratech, MSR, Motoz, Continental, Shinko and others to build it into my favorite touring/adventure bike. Including a spare tire mount to help me ride into the Arctic Circle to Tuktoyuktuk in Northwest Territories Canada!

In this video we take our cheap dual sport Yamaha XT 250s, TW 200s and Honda XR 250 on the "Northern WI Adventure Trail" and realize we need to ride a small section of the "Trans WI Adventure Trail" that we had by-passed on the rainy night we rode the northern half of the trail two years ago. This led us down a trail that got really interesting.

Great video! Would love to take my Versys 650 on a ride like that. But as I'm located in Europe, as my videos show, my Versys is 99 % used on tarmac :D

Thank you for making and posting this video. This is the first video I've found of someone actually touring (bike camping) using the Versus 650. I bike camped on a bicycle with a trailer and just purchased a new 2023 Versus 650 LT ABS and looking forward to some touring.

12700km on the 23 model Versys , no issues , make sure you never replace a bent front brake lever with a non original copy. My front brake seized on a road at low speed after a mechanic replaced my bent lever.😮

Thanks so much! I’m honestly not sure about the factory luggage. I’ve never looked closely at the way they mount to the bike. I’ve always thought it’s cool how they latch on without a bunch of bars going everywhere. I suppose worst case scenario, you could wrap a ratchet strap around them to hold them on. I had to do that with a KTM I had in the past. Either way, safe travels and thanks for watching and commenting!

Know right where that water hole is in Delta, my neighbor swamped his buggy there, took a truck to pull it out with a Looong rope then hours with the hose.

@@jefferyhogue1976 that’s a good question. We actually didn’t. However, I’ve wondered if we should have. I’m guessing riding on ATV trails, a person probably should have a trail pass. At least the bikes are street legal, I guess at the time I thought that was enough.

I did a run from Indiana up to Alaska in 2022. I loved Dawson City, honestly, I enjoyed the Yukon more than Alaska. That dirt road construction was the same way in '22 as well. Hopefully you didn't wait long for the pilot cars, I averaged about a half hour but heard of folks waiting longer. Great video! Really enjoyed it!
Yeah, the Yukon and British Columbia are pretty amazing! I was to the top of Alaska in 2017 and I’d like to get back there and explore some more someday. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
