Absolutely Amazing!! So glad I stumbled across your video!!
Outstanding work! Working to improve my inlays. Thanks for the tips.
Gerat vid. I am just getting started. Thanks for sharing your experience. I will be using this waste board, minus the vertical, for now LOL. Also love the idea of a second board for cut throughs. Enjoy
WOW!!
Finish with a coat of Danish oil, leave it for a 3 days and sand it down lightly.
Yeah, you’re the real deal my friend. 99th percentile. Excellent work on the piece and on the video. You’ve left me inspired and better educated.
Wow, how many hours do you have in that
Any 40 hours. Thank you for watching!
I see in this case you didn't use a tail stock. Why not? Not needed because the chuck of the work piece is strong enough? The work piece is thick enough?
All of the above, except that the length was the factor and not the thickness. The stock wasn't long enough, in this case to warrant a need for the tailstock. The chuck clamping pressure was enough to keep it stable. Thickness did not matter because the stock used for the pawn pieces was only an inch square. Thank you for watching!
Welcome to try Monport LASER
So simple. Love the technique!
HOLY CRAP!!! That is the most detailed cutting board I have ever seen! You may not think that you are a master, but you are overly humble! Also, your video presentation style is SPOT ON! No goofy annoying background music and the work goes on with no pauses as you narrate. This is one of the BEST CZcams videos that I've ever watched - both in terms of the workmanship of the project and the presentation of the video. I'm too late to the CNC game and I will never even attempt anything that complex.... but now that I see what can be done, I am excited to try something somewhat simpler. THANK YOU!!
can the laser cut the 1/8 inch sheet of glass?
It's funny you ask, because I literally tried. It will not cut all the way through, but it will cut deep enough that you can break it, and it be a straight-ish cut. It's not like scoring glass would be where it's a straight and smooth cut. It's actually very jagged and rough. I've learned that the laser doesn't cut or truly engrave the glass, it fractures it in microscopic pieces. So it's not a very efficient way of cutting/scoring the glass. Thank you for watching!
those wood droppins could make for bags of fire starter on a website
you could call it a fire sale
Ha! I see what you did there!
Another great job Scott, I think that bald-headed guy was impressed too.
Thank you sir! He was sincerely a huge help, getting it unpacked and setup. You've got a good kid!
Great Job Scott. Glad I could help.
And thank you for the help, bro!!
Great video thanks
The cat joke made me realize I also want to put everything in my CNC 😅 "When you have a hammer in your hand, everything looks like a nail" LOL
Well, I'm getting addicted to your channel 😅 Please don't stop uploading 😁💥🙌🏻
Well done! I like how you got it all set up and well thought out. This is my kind of thing 🤓 Subbed!
I was expecting a dog until he called the cat.
Well done and congrats! Here Kitty, haha
Very nice laser, well done 👍
SWEET!
Awesome👍
Amen brother I have a cnc and it takes serious dedication to create projects..
Amazing work and ideas really creative
There is a lot time and effort spent on researching, planning and designing, cutting and painting, and just waiting on things to cure in these projects . The machine definitely is only a tool for the artist to use. Awesome work!!
o, yea. im struggling with learning a new machine and a new software. It's very frustrating at times. Amen to that.
How many hours did this take to complete ? This is amazing!! 15:48
I had about 40 hours tied up in it. Thank you for watching!
Excellent work. You are very talented.
Check Mate...Mate!
Awesome work!
Been so so so busy lately. Getting back to some projects and this was a great watch as always. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Both the videos and projects you do. I see you’re using some pressure clamps to push against the PVC instead of just the angle boards. Whose are they? I like that.
I found them on Amazon. They only work well with heavy stuff, otherwise I only use them by clamping then against the wooden wedges to keep from backing out on aggressive cuts. Thank you for the compliment! Here's an Amazon link to the clamps. amzn.to/3Xnzt3U
Well done sir….🇺🇸
Thanks for the plans man
Great video and I'm planning on making my own soon. What was the tool path you used to get that sloped edge on the side of the mallet head? I'm using Carveco Maker so I'm having to translate the cuts to my software.
I used the moulding toolpath in Vcarve. I have never used Carveco so I am not sure how you would do it using that. Thank you for watching!
Can you make a video showing how you have you tapered ball nose set up in vectric?
Question on the 20x20 extruded aluminum frame. On each side there’s 2 20x20 48” extruded aluminum lengths? So a total of 4 20x20 48” extruded aluminum lengths? The frame is inter-connected with join brackets?
Yes, there are 4 individual extrusions, 48 inches long. The 2 outer most lengths of extrusion, I manually drilled 5 holes down the length of the extrusion. Then I used a T-nut on the inner extrusions to secure the outer extrusion to them. Make sense? I hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
And yes, I have corner brackets on all 4 corners to help keep it rigid.
Very cool! Slowly getting into CNC and started out as a pen turner. So they is really cool! Thank you.
Nice workmanship! Appreciate the commentary throughout! Very helpful.
beautiful
How do ya know? Lol
Been there. Done that. 😁
"I dont think im the best but im workin on it" Way to stay humble my brother. Thats an amazing piece and i hope to someday be as good as you
Thank you 🙏🏾 140
Thank you. 🙏🏾 140
On cleaning up the rook tower, would a tail stock drill chuck have worked, or would have had had geometry you didn't want?
It could have, but the tail stock that I have only has a live center that isn't removable. But if I could install a chuck into the tail stock, one problem would be that the motorized chuck spinning the model isn't fast enough to drill quickly. It would be a long drilling operation. And as you mentioned the geometry, a regular drill bit would most likely leave a less desirable finish in the 'floor' of the tower, so maybe a flat end mill would be better. But then finding a flat end mill the perfect diameter to match the diameter of the cleanup cut to be made would probably be a problem too. But it's a good idea as it would save a ton of time and would certainly be worth a try. Thank you for watching!
i am looking at getting into this as a side business, and I too live in south Alabama; down on the coast. I know some great artists that I could collaborate with. I am curious if you think the market is already saturated in this area though?
Joseph, In my experience trying to sell these boards in our area, it's not a matter of it being saturated, but the mindset of the majority of people that live here who are willing to pay what these boards cost to make. There is a very small percentage that will pay you what the board is worth, not it's not enough to keep you busy. If I were to sell these, I would market them online to reach a broader customer base. Good luck!
Good afternoon, would you accept ordering ? how much does the complete works , pieces e chessbord costs?
Sorry, no. It is quite time consuming to make a complete set, and it wouldn't be cost effective to make these to sell. To be able to mass produce them, I would need to purchase more machinery and tools and it's way outside of my budget. Thank you for watching!
Great vid. Thanks for the "how to" on the 4th axis. This will help many a CNC hobbyist. So, you mentioned you use the 3Nm Masso motors. For all Axis? XYBZ? Did you have the smaller motor prior and experienced issues and then upgraded? Or was it the new Elite owner’s complaints?
Yes, I have the 3Nm steppers on all axis. No, I didn't buy the 3Nm steppers due to the complaints of the smaller steppers. In fact, when I ordered the MASSO system from MASSO, I had not heard of the problems with those steppers, and had only heard of them right about the time that I was making this video. MASSO doesn't even sell the steppers that come with the Elite machine, the smallest stepper that MASSO offers (2Nm) is still more powerful than the Elite steppers. Between you and me, I believe that the Elite steppers are a 3rd party stepper that was outsourced just for the Onefinity machines and MASSO put their brand on it. But to answer your question, MASSO offers 2 steppers. 2Nm and 3Nm. The 3Nm is only $12 more than the 2Nm, so I just said, "What the heck?!", and ordered the 3Nm. They might be overkill for what I do, but I have no regrets. They have performed flawlessly. Thank you for watching!!
Love the offset spoilboard holes, i need to add that to mine. Whats speeds did you run the holes at?
Remember that I used a 1/2" endmill to cut the dog holes... Feed rate was 50ipm and the spindle was 12k RPM. Thank you for watching!
