Class 37 Cab Ride in 6940 at the Llangollen 1960's Gala, 24th July 2016 - HD Video.
Class 37 No. 6940 enters Berwyn Tunnel, Llangollen on full power and has a big slip just as it enters (wet rail) and then settles down to some nice thrash until power is eased for a TSR the other side of the tunnel. Turn up the volume!

The 1700hrs departure from Dar Es Salaam to Kigoma, a journey that takes 2 days. The loco is a Malaysian re engineered loco, not sure of the original builder yet but engine was a 2400hp american unit.

    You forgot to D261 he was not only in Thomas and friends. It was a real diesel but that guy also got scrapped

    Excuse the silly question, Im not a railway man. Why are the windows (windscreen) so high up? Seems a bit difficult to see straight ahead. And whats underneath the "bonnet"?

      Not silly at all. The nose ends house auxiliary equipment such as compressors for the braking system etc.

    Remember it well, 37s been refurbished to 37/5s and 7s and the 90s just starting to be built, classified 87/2s at the time

    I'm guessing that there's some warships, hymeks and westerns in there. Interesting locos those for me as an Aussie. Not a single Diesel Hydraulic mainline loco (plenty of shunters, though) in the whole country. I understand why they weren't kept on, but it's a pity that it was done so early, and that so few were saved. The ones in this clip look seriously in need of some TLC (not that they probably ever really got any!) but then even in the photos of them as new, they looked kinda old, IMHO. Interesting little clip. Glad you posted it.
