i have been planning a video for a long time to explain all the details of how everything works and how everything is operated correctly. for such a documentary, i have to jack up the motorcycle so that the rear wheel can turn freely in the air. then i will simulate a real ride in this state. i want to capture all this in a video. as soon as i find some time for it, i will realize this project.

This is an annual gathering of historic motorbikes, also with sidecars up to 1939. Sidecar a real special configuration of motorbike, because it rides very differently than a single track vehicle. As the organiser, Josef Werhahn also has this "Joker Class", where, among other things, the cabin motorbikes are also allowed to ride. It was a great honour for me to be able to ride there.

the main technical advantage of motorcycling is = no lateral acceleration in curves due to self-stabilized leaning of the motorcycle perpendicular, thus being very comfortable on twisty roads. Only 2 wheels in line are needed allowing simple construction, low weight, with fairings very low aerodynamic drag and filtering thru traffic jams etc…

Die Innengeräusche sind leider so laut das man nichts versteht und es hört sich an wie in einem Flugzeug.

@@winheiMR ja die Innengeräusche sind vorhanden, aber eine normale Unterhaltung ist durchaus möglich. Es wird daran gearbeitet die Innengeräusche zu reduzieren.

sorry to reply so late for such a simple and short answer. The top speed of the vehicles normally produced is 240 kilometres, almost 150 miles. However, turbo engines have also been installed which can reach speeds of over 330 km, the equivalent of 205 miles.

@nandawasthi I also imagine 330 km/h to be like another world. in the cabin motorbike you can also imagine you are flying in an aeroplane about half a metre above the road. anything over 200 km/h is very, very fast to drive, and if you want to go even faster you need "space and safety". that's not a problem on test and race tracks, but in germany there are still stretches of motorway where no speed limit is prescribed. if you want to drive faster than 200 km/h you should have "space and safety" there too. if i have this "space/safety" with the cabin motorbike then i still only ever drive just over 200 km/h. i'm not a racer, but a motorcyclist on normal roads.

Er kann sich nicht selbst auspendeln, Das ist eine andere Technologie. In den Kurven sind Schräglagen von bis zu 52 Grad sich möglich. In dem Moment berührt das eingezogene Stützwerkrad auf der geneigten Seite den Straßenbelag. Die Reifen kommen an ihre Grenzen, halten aber was sie versprechen.

Ja das mit dem Scheibenwischer ist nicht so einfach. Die Frontscheibe ist gewölbt, vergleichbar mit dem Frontfenster von Segelflugzeugen. Bei ausreichender Geschwindigkeit perlen die Wassertropfen nach hinten ab so das der Scheibenwischer nicht gebraucht wird. Bei unklaren Verhältnissen schaufelt der Scheibenwischer auf jeden Fall ein ausreichendes Sichtfenster frei.

Durch die geschlossene Kabine ergibt sich Möglichkeit das richtige Lenken fest zu stellen, weil ja jegliche Störeinflüsse und Manipulationen ausgeschlossen sind. Wenn jemand sagt er könne nur durch Gewichtsverlagerung zuverlässig lenken, dann soll er doch bitte mal versuchen, mit fest arretierter Lenkstange eine kontrollierte Kurvenfahrt zu machen. Es gibt eben diesen Geschwindigkeitsbereich an dem für Fahrtrichtungsänderungen die Bewegungsrichtung der Lenkstange vertauscht werden muss, und das gilt für alle Einspurfahrzeuge. Das ist der Moment ab dem du sozusagen Freihändig fahren kannst.

An opening at the bottom to put the legs up would not guarantee this. and what if it rains? you sit in the cab and can stretch out your feet, even though you have to operate the clutch with your left foot and the full composite brake with your right. with the support wheels, the function of your feet is executed at the touch of a button and implemented in 0.3 seconds...

@@MonoRacer what I was thinking was to make a more simpler model just to not get rained on. That could be achieved with just a top cover. Also it would be a lot more lighter that way

The support wheels must not react automatically to speed, for example. That would be fatal when slowly entering a traffic circle. All motorcyclists support the bike with both legs when stopping, and that is a final decision made by your brain. That's why you have to use the support wheel switch as naturally as you use the clutch and brake. If you forget to put your legs on the road, you will also tip over. 😅

Den von hinten habe ich tatsächlich nicht gesehen, ich habe mehr auf den Sicherheitsabstand zum voraus fahrenden Fahrzeug geachtet. There isn't really a height limit, but from 2.10 metres upwards it does get a bit cramped for the driver. I don't think you'll be ridiculed by your motorbike friends, I think your motorbike friends will be jealous because you'll be riding a bike that keeps you dry in the rain. You don't need a crash helmet or leather clothing and you have air conditioning in summer and heating in winter. You can listen to the radio and talk to your pillion passenger without Bluetooth headphones in your helmet.

@@wollschweinriddim606 so the sunlight already reaches the cabin, it's more like the sunlight is quite intense. in summer i'm happy to have air conditioning, and in winter i have heating. what i really miss is the airflow that a motorcyclist experiences. a breeze lets you feel the speed, i miss that here in the cabin.

you're right, these cab motorbikes are not new. this idea has been around for over 100 years, but these vehicles have been developed in this design since 1980 and the technology has improved with each vehicle.

The engine of this vehicle is a BMW K1200RS. There is no gyro, the support wheels are extended manually at the touch of a button in 0.3 seconds, and this is only necessary for stopping and parking. Otherwise you drive it like any other single-track vehicle.
