Sorry for the delayed video, My phone battery died, had to order a new one.. Then when the battery arrived, I made this video, but couldn't edit it because my computer was giving me fits. I'm sure by now you've all heard about Kingstreetrob's passing. I wish I could thank him one more time for everything he's helped me with. I plan to repick some of the awesome locks he's sent to me. Thanks guy...

Nothing special here, just an older Yale rim cylinder I recently took out of a door in my building. Thought it would put up more of a fight than the usual mastered Kwiksets I find here, so I thought I'd share it. Spoiler, it was easy, lol. #LockPicking

Another great lock to check off the list ! Like I mentioned, I have picked it 2 or 3 times in the past, but not on camera.. I have however picked a 5 pin M3 on camera a while back.. You can see that in this video : czcams.com/video/8xhB8LCB02A/video.html #LockPicking #Medeco #HiSecurity

What a unassuming looking padlock.. I love locks like this that have a strange or different method of disassembly. I believe this to be the Medeco 50-500 Videos mentioned in this video: Tumbl3r's Medeco Metrolock pick and gutt : czcams.com/video/8k8-WBZvdlQ/video.html Steel Pinnings' disassembly : czcams.com/video/Z3PfYH9XPFw/video.html #LockPicking #Locksmithing #Locksmith
Thanks.
You bet!
Really nice job, do you think you could rake this lock with a bogota, also what are your thoughts on bottom of the keyway tension with this lock?
I bet it could be done, but im not a big raker.. Same with bottom of the keyway.. Im sure it could be done, it just leaves less room for picking :) :P
very few people on youtube have successfully reassembled a sg padlock! the shackle is tricky, used a piano cord to assemble mine good work!
haha yeah.. it was tricky at first.. but not too bad once you figure it out.. thanks man!
Cool locks. What is that giant, aluminum colored block padlock to the right in the background?
Thats an Assa 4-5 and its actually Steel. quite the best
@@RookieLock thanks! I just found your other two vids on that lock. Very cool hunk of steel.
I"m so glad I found this video! I have a few hundred Best padlocks at my job, some of which see heavy abuse: dirt, grease, food gunk, and impact. I knew there had to be a way to disassemble these for servicing, but hadn't found a good resource for it yet. If I can clean them and replace worn shackles, I can save my organization several hundred dollars a year. This might not teach me everything I need to know, but it's enough to get me started. Thank you!
Not a problem. Glad you got some use out of it.. Let me know if you have any questions..
I found a name brand padlock tool in my shop this morning. I've seen it 100 times but never knew what that tiny little hook was for. Nice.
That ASSA 4-5 is a beast of a lock. Never seen one before. How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?
i forget.. It was a while back.. and it was a package deal.. maybe 150 -200 ?
Still helpful 3 years later, cheers!
Thanks man.. glad you found it usefull!
May not work if there are #5 or #6 pins in 1,2,3 or 4 as there wont be enough room to put that tool inside
Nice video/lock Have a great day, just noticed i already watched this 2 yes ago.
Thanks man!
Couldn’t agree more about the standard pins being more difficult than security pins. I got so used to false sets and stuff lol
Exactly ! lol
Have one but I think the screw is stripped
Dam, that sux :/ I know the allen size is REALLY small.. like 1/16ths if im not mistaken
Yea I got it thay ar interchangeable with the sollad brass 50 series I had to bang it out and replace the shackle
@@mikebrostlove13 Nice!
I accidentally closed this same lock with the wrong key in it 🤦♂️. It turned inside it when it was unlocked, but now I can’t pull it out and it doesn’t turn while locked lol. Any tips on what to do besides bringing it to a locksmith if need be?
Im guessing yours has a sidebar? Even so, thats a bit of a head scratcher.. Not sure why the key wouldent come out.. Maybe try hitting it with a soft blow hammer.. Lube up the core.. and make sure the key is in the 12oclock position before trying to pull on it. If you can sneak anything in the core next to the key to try to free up some pins try that also.. Good luck. if you ever figure out why they key got stuck let me know, im curious.
This really helped me pick and gut the Sargent Signature, thanks for sharing it :D
Hey! Glad you found it helpfull. Great lock !
Stopped by to say congratulations on cracking your 500 milestone. Just awesome, cheers
Hey thanks PW <3 Late congrats to you for hitting 800! You deserve it !
@@RookieLock cheers mate
Looks a treat in the Abus. The only flaw with the Abus is the plug that covers the grub screw. They are fine if it's inserted and that's where it stays, but if you want to remove it it crumbles in your fingers. Terrible quality from Abus. Apart from that a sweet up grade. Cheers Rookie:-)
Yeah, I ended up putting up the plug back in the box, lol.. If i were to use it outdoors I would use the plug, but since it's just sitting on my desk, it will be fine without ;P Thanks again Paul..
This is good. I have one of these locks and the third plug was coming out and the lock would not lock. I tapped it in to make it work. I had no idea so much was going on inside. Really great to see how it works. I found this video after the newer one. I subscribed.
Thanks Michael !
Was that a straight pick tool that you curved to make the extraction with ?
I think it was a slightly curved one.. Just beware, some of these picks are really cheap crappy metal and might not be strong enough... Good luck!
Very beautiful locks, great video, thank you for sharing
Thanks Steve!
nice upgrade, and good to see a padlock design with an easy solution to change the shackle
I agree. Pretty smart design ! Thanks for watchin' Rune!
Nice locks, thanks for sharing and have a great weekend 🙏👍😁

Didn’t know you made a new video, happy to see it - missed seeing them in my feed, I know your nephew used to like hearing your voice in these videos he’ll be happy to see you did a new one too.

Pretty much all accounted for with the contents. Hope there's enough to keep you occupied for a while. Cheers:-)
Awesome.. Thanks again eh Paul.. Perfect timing for this package too.. a day after my birthday.. haha
Nice score! Pauls the man! Welcome back, look forward to seeing to mortice come together!

Great locks.

Wicked parcel from a top notch bloke! I haven't forgotten about your parcel too bro. Got a few bilock next gen items for you in a box that's buried away in b9xes with all my locks. I feel ya bro, truly sorry to hear about your dad mate, I completely agree on finding it hard to get videos after losing a loved one. I too lost my dad father about 18 months back and most of my time is taken up looking after my mother. I'll jump back in the saddle once I've got more time on my hands.
Ah really.. sorry to hear that Funkey <3 Hope you and your family are doing ok. Take your time buddy!
What an awesome selection Paul has sent you. Totally the ultimate Abus CS collection, Thanks for sharing, cheers
Thanks PW! Long time no see Hope your doing well !
Kaba King strikes again. Paul is a great man, good to see your making videos again Rookie Cheers

Nice stuff from the kaba King. And I know how hard it is to get back on the YT horse, when life is busy. I have a huge pile of tools ready for a moment to make an unboxing video
Thanks Rune.. Yeah, glad im not the only one, lol. Take care buddy!
Thank you for explain how to pull apart a Best padlock. I have about 20 of these old Best padlocks, & now I know how to to strip them right down, to recondition them.
No problem! I'm glad you got something out of it! Best of luck !
How you take out the cylinder
SFIC uses a control key to remove the cylinder
I love cats to
How can I buy that one you worked on
Honestly, I would just keep an eye out on ebay.. Always plenty on there..
They need to design a lock for a trailer that will fit with a seal no the trailer!!!
Thanks for this, I remembered how to dismantle mine (sort of) but then had forgotten how to get back together. All done. much appreciated RL Also one of my favourite padlocks too.
Awesome lock to have in your collection! Glad you found it useful !
Thank you, I am going to try the same thing, I found a that a master 6000b blank only takes a little filing off the top and bottom and in the warding grooves to fit. Im hoping this will suit me.
Its pretty easy once you know where your pins chisel tip is.. and your angles.. Just get a few extra blanks in case ;P good luck!
I want to ammend my comment, The keyway on the medeco I have only has one warding strip on each side. Doing research I see that there are alot of different keyways that are more common.
Hello, can you please post the dimensions of the diameter of the dial ring and the length x width of the casing of the mechanism of your J&J Taylor lock?
Is that top of the lock?
Nicely done. One of these days I've got to get myself a re-pinning kit so I can rekey my own locks. Super cool!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for your support buddy!
Thanks for sharing. One thing makes me marvel though: I have a couple of very fine, disc-shaped side cutting milling bits from Proxxon. (A Dremel would take 'em too with the right chuck. I use them for removing PCB traces when required, but i digress. Haven't done any undercutting so far, that's why i watched Your video. ;)) Is there a specific reason why you did not use one of those but made your own tool instead?
Only reason I made my own is because I hate ordering stuff and waiting for it to arrive.. That and I know most kits have this ball bit, so people can easily modify them for this use.. Thanks for watching Matt! Appreciate your support buddy!
Thank you!
Great picking!!! Am trying to get mine. Not much feedback 🥲 Will keep trying . 🐾🐈⬛🐈🐾⛄️🇨🇦🐈
I think I send this one to you? Check the bitting ;P
@@RookieLock yes!!! It’s the same lock😅 Thank you buddy!!😀
@@chriscapune7873 haha thought so.. guess my memory isnt as bad as i put it out to be ;P

FYI that's called a cam, not an actuator. Nice vid though. That tool makes short work of that.
Congrats on that padlock! Yeah, I know that feeling, I never thought I would even touch the Mul-T-Lock E18-H discontinued 15 years ago but I guess the planets aligned or something because I finally got it
Nice!!
Well what a victory celebration Rook! You made the right decision when you cashed out lol😅🤣 Awesome stuff Love the shirt Paul is truly a brother in every sense of the word! Enjoy I will do a video on my package once it arrives later on Stay well
Awesome! So happy for you buddy.. Look forward to your video! Take care brother!
Great video, helped out considerably to repair one I had. Just having issues getting the shackle notch reassembled with the plug. Any suggestions? The video cuts away when you are about to tap it in. Thanks!
Hey brother great video, I have an issue with my safe... It's not unlocking...I can get it but it takes around 30 minutes... It's there a quality aftermarket combo lock I can put on it
Thanks! I would go on ebay.. you could find this same lock for under 100.. I wouldn't pay anymore than that for it.. But your issue might be simple.. you just might be a number off.. sometimes wheels can drift.. Maybe change your combo before buying a new lock. Hope that helps buddy!
@@RookieLock do you have a video on how to do that brother
Combo change? I dont think I do, but Ill find you one ;)
czcams.com/video/KRzOsGD0aeo/video.html&ab_channel=sargentandgreenleaf1 This should point you in the right direction.. Just becarefull and do all the combo change, and test the new combo when your safe is open ! ;P
