Younger me needed this character (Kenma Kozume)
There's a LOT I wish I could tell my younger self. Kenma demonstrates a lot of that.
Ever since he first met Hinata, he's shown to be the polar opposite of him: in comparison to the Greatest Decoy who zips around all over the place to create chances for his teammates, Nekoma's brain stands still, making use of the receives his team sends his way.
Hinata would later declare that one day he would make Kenma admit Volleyball was fun, following this Kenma says he wants a game where "It's instantly game over when someone loses".
The showdown will have to wait though, as Nekoma must first defeat Sarukawa Tech, another solid defensive team that wears him down.
Through a series of flashbacks with Kuroo and Yamamoto, we get a deep look into the mind of Kenma, his love of games, and hatred of losing.
Kuroo and Kenma have played volleyball together for a LONG time, with Kuroo encouraging him to come out of his shell and give volleyball a real go.
His teammate Yamamoto doesn't see eye to eye with him, declaring he doesn't have enough "guts". But Kenma proves him wrong, Kenma rises to the occasion and takes an extra step to help his friends and teammates out with a beautiful set to win the game.
Moving into Karasuno vs Nekoma, Kenma is quick to come up with a counter strategy for Hinata, putting him in a "bird cage" in the Battle at the Garbage dump.
But as the match goes on, after one particularly intense rally, a collapsed Kenma admits "That was fun". Causing Hinata to yell in celebration. At the very end, he thanks Kuroo for teaching him volleyball, admitting the match was the most fun he'd ever had.

My honest thoughts on the Haikyuu Movie
zhlédnutí 34KPřed 14 dny
Haikyuu's showdown between Karasuno and Nekoma, "The Battle at the Garbage Dump" was recently released in theatres worldwide. It's received a brilliant amount of success, and I personally thoroughly enjoyed it. However as time went on, and I thought about it more and more... I couldn't help but feel frustrated. Sure, we got the boom jump and a whole bunch of other, super cool scenes, but SO muc...
Haikyuu's final movie now has a SERIOUS problem...
zhlédnutí 98KPřed 21 dnem
Haikyuu: Battle at the Garbage Dump is finally out, and has received fantastic reception... however now there's a BIG problem. The first few seasons of Haikyuu, containing Karasuno's matches against Aoba Johsai, Shiratorizawa and Inarizaki, went through at a rate of 5-7 minutes per chapter. The Nekoma vs Karasuno game, was under 3 minutes per chapter. Ouch. The reviews of the film are still fan...
The "villain" I wanted to win (Oikawa Toru)
zhlédnutí 200KPřed 28 dny
Oikawa's "Chance Ball" scene is one of Haikyuu's greatest, but it's just a small part of his incredible journey. As perhaps the most motivating character in the anime, his journey as an "Ordinary setter" to fight against Karasuno's Kageyama, and Aoba Johsai's Shiratorizawa is beyond inspiring. From the first match of Aoba Johsai vs Karasuno, where his serves were near-unstoppable, we see Oikawa...
Anime's STRONGEST motivation hack
zhlédnutí 31KPřed měsícem
Blue Lock is a very unique anime, but above all it's extremely motivating: Isagi and other characters such as Barou and Chigiri provide a very unique, motivating view on the sport and the world. In episode 11, Isagi scores a "direct shot" (volley) to give team Z the win over team V, allowing them to survive and clear the first stage. But this isn't the route Isagi would ordinarily take, it's a ...
Anime's single most motivating line (Tanaka Ryūnosuke)
zhlédnutí 364KPřed měsícem
It's very common nowadays for people to use anime for motivation - listening to soundtracks in the gym, watching big scenes before a big moment IRL, or just rewatching THAT moment when we're at a low point. I could name countless motivational anime quotes or scenes, but of all of them, my favourite is undoubtedly "Tanaka's Greatest Moment" - his cross shot against Inarizaki to win the first set...
Anime's most inspiring philosophy (Shinsuke Kita)
zhlédnutí 164KPřed 2 měsíci
There's plenty of "motivational" or "inspirational" anime characters out there. There's a few I would genuinely credit with changing my life. However many of those, had huge amounts of screentime - or at the very least a good few episodes. But Shinsuke Kita, has barely more than an episode. Of all of Haikyuu's quotes, perhaps my favourite is "You do it every day. You take care of your body. You...
Procrastinating? Johzenji WILL fix that...
zhlédnutí 67KPřed 2 měsíci
No seriously, they will - and based on the views on the last video I spoke about this, it's something a lot of you guys struggled with too. Despite such low screentime, Johzenji had a HUGE impact on the story of Haikyuu: unlike Date Tech, Aoba Johsai or Nekoma, they're a VERY similar team to Karasuno. Using synchro and quick attack in the same fashion as Kageyama and Hinata. They have a very un...

Haikyuu's "Saddest" story is actually... beautiful.
zhlédnutí 116KPřed 3 měsíci
Haikyuu's biggest strength is perhaps its character writing, the beautiful inspiring stories of Karasuno's members, and the other teams'. However, whilst it has some of the best characters I've seen in an anime, there was one I couldn't help but see as... sad for a long time. Sugawara is Karasuno's co-captain, however he's also the only third year not on the starting lineup. He occasionally get...

The chain reaction that started it all. A hugely overlooked character in Haikyuu's perseverance when the club was at its lowest caused it to fly higher than ever before. When we think of Karasuno's starting lineup, names like Hinata, Kageyama, and Nishinoya often come to mind, each with their own memorable moments and character arcs. But what about the captain, Daichi? In this video, we dive de...
