In A Mobile Home, The Walls Are on TOP of The Subfloor...
zhlédnutí 965Před 5 dny
We're working on replacing the rotten subfloors in this mobile home, and thought we'd show you that the walls are built on top of the subfloors, so the plywood slides UNDER the walls. They built it all as one piece and the added the wall in so they can move them around to whatever layout they want!

Installing the Septic System Pipes In A Mobile Home

We put a mobile home on this piece of property, and then had to install the plumbing and sewer pipes to the septic system. The trailer already has waste pipes in it but a lot of it had to be reworked!
Installing A New Water Line From The Meter All The Way To The Mobile Home

We put a mobile home on a new piece of land, and got the city to install a water tap. Now we have to run the line with pex, all the way from the meter to the home. This is how you do it!
Installing All New Pex Plumbing In This DESTROYED Mobile Home
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed 22 dny
We are working on a mobile home we moved onto a lot, the thing needed the floors replaced so we replaced all of the plumbing while we were at it. The plumbing in these mobile homes originally was pretty bad, it was really brittle pvc and if you can replace it, you should! Pex is a cheap and quick way to do it and it lasts much longer than PVC.

"Basically, when you put it in, you gotta be careful" sage advice
Yep
I don’t understand staples. I mean, I get that they are cheaper than nails, but everywhere I see them used, they’ll put in 20 or 30 staples where a couple of nails would do the same job. Do 20 staples still cost less than two nails?!?!? Most of the time, the wood is smashed and weakened by being pierced with so many staples that the joint fails there first.
I’ve got the same feeling
I appreciate how you adapt, improvise and overcome. I cannot wait to see the finished product. Film camera shy Ron when he's not looking. LOL
Ok
Pretty rough.
It’s getting there
You will probably never find a mobile home on the market, this well built. If your rent this out, your tenant will be lucky to find this.
Hopefully, they realize that when they move in
starting to shape up
Thanks
I like to put some steel rims under the front tires and on the square body it lifts it enough and its not going anywhere. Addendum;;my 83 El Camino had a mix of metric and standard nuts & bolts, and i was first to get into it.
I’ve done the rim trick before two
I remember the old Pink Panther commercials. I was always told that it's dangerous to handle the stuff with bare hands, is that not the case? Genuine question, I truly don't know.
No it is not bad at all not the stuff in the roll. Anyway, it’s pretty mild if you lay down and roll around you will itch
Mobile homes are built very shoddy
Yep
Your crew sure can do some quick measuring. Thank for the video Donnie, enjoyed it.
Thank you sir
I hope you feel better all of you all
❤
Thanks
Many/most modern homes are built the same way. One floor at a time rather than making a frame and building in.
Yep
One floor at a time...and it didn't cost Donnie a dime 🎶 😁
I'm got 14 sheets of new plywood subfloor,3/4 inch sanded pine.I'm gonna start ripping the old particle board out tomorrow.I was going to cut it up in small pieces before ripping out,but it looks like the bigger pieces not as messy
Not a bunch of sawdust.Looking good
If you can get it out in bigger pieces, you’ll be better off
Ha Donnie. I remember the pink panther insulation ads never got the connection outher than both pink. The old can you found under the floor somebody probably want for there collection. Getting to dune. Looking good. 👍😁👍. Bob.
Thanks for watching Bob
That sure was a stubborn floor
Destroyed
I bought my house new 22 years ago and the vent is near the toilet the water lines run into the basement right where the window is. And the designer of the home told me he had a college degree
That’s about right
why would they design a toilet next to an air vent? Wouldn't an overflow or spill go in there? Is this normal construction?
That was actually a bedroom at somebody turned into a bathroom, but yes, there is a vent in the actual bathroom it’s not right on top of the commode it’s to the right of it at the base of the sink
Been there, done that. Looking good.

Good thing cameras don't come with Smellovision...meant ta tell ya Donnie, Joe got me some Tacobell the other day and...ya know how it is 😆
Yep
Must have been bad to have been worse than the toilet out the back of that old jailhouse you renovated. That room was definately designed to make people question their life choices.
That toilet must've been horrendous.
It was bad
Sorry...I ate too much Tacobell 😣..and it burns burns burns..the ring of fire 🔥
Polybutylene (PB) pipes are a type of flexible plastic plumbing pipe that are often gray, but can also be black, blue, white, or silver. They are usually half to one inch in diameter and have a smooth finish. They were commonly used in home construction from the 1970s to the mid-1990s, but are no longer produced or allowed in new construction because they can corrode and leak over time. PB pipes can also react with chlorine in water, causing pinhole leaks.
Ok
When Y'all remodel you definitely don't shy away from doing it right. Great job. Is it cheaper to remodel a Trailer aka Mobile home than a house?
No, it’s probably the same cost if not a little more because the specially stuff that you have to have for instants all the doors are a special heigh all the plumbing fixtures are special for instance, the bathtub being 56 instead of 60. Also, there’s no overflows on anything where a house would be a little cheaper because more people have houses so that material is less money but the initial purchase of a mobile home is a lot less than what a house would be.
@@mybrotherdonnie so you have to special order somethings ?
@@southerncharm2023 they’re not sold at Lowe’s or Home Depot. You have to either special order or go to a mobile home store because everything is different. Another one is windows. They’re all different. There’s single pane, aluminum windows. They’re almost like storm windows that you used to put over your regular windows back in the day.
@@mybrotherdonnie gotcha whats the return on your investment ?
@@southerncharm2023 more than what you can get in the bank

How was the pipe entry into the tank sealed?
Mortar
I lo e seeing the difference in plumbing codes with location . Where im at we are not allowed a tee wye fitting at the bottom of a drop with a cleanout . We have to use a wye fitting with a 45 to keep the flow moving smoothly. Same as water lines in outside walls not allowed cause of our very cold winters . Enjoying the reno keep them coming 👍

Hello, watch your channel to help me fix my first mobile home purchased out here in Fayetteville. Quick question. I own land already and want to know if moving a mobile home to land is possible as a fixer upper.. meaning , can I move a fixer upper to land I own already in nc and fix it up there versus on someone else mobile home park? Thanks a lot
Yes, if it is new enough for you to move it, move it to your land where you’re not paying a fee for it sitting on somebody else’s land

Move it
You really want to move it before you start fixing it because once you move it it’s gonna have damage from the move
@@mybrotherdonnie what is the requirements to move it? Especially while being fixed? Can and should I move it before getting any of the utilities? Land is raw and near Monroe area. Has electric at road, I assume city water and would need a septic.
@@lazarodejesus5671 you need to make sure you can get a septic tank or city sewer I’m moving in South Carolina and I just got to my permit is the only requirement and it’s got to be within 30 years old
@@mybrotherdonnie I’m in nc. So basically I have to fill out an application. The only issue I have right now is that I have to have a foundation (I’m assuming) prior to moving my mobile home. Can you give an estimate on how much that would cost in nc. This has been something I’ve been working on for 4 years (buying the land , clearing it by hand and purchasing my mobile home) thank you so much and your responses are meditated on

Wow so easy to dig sandy soil... My location is mostly hard clay with lots of rocks and very hard to dig.
Sand is a blessing and a curse all at the same time. It’s a blessing when you need to dig in it but if you trying to grow something in it, the nutrients will not stay in it.
Looks great! Where did you get the window trim board pieces?? I’m looking for trim wood to replace rotted wood from AC units in 2 windows in an 80s Mobile Home.
What we did was take a piece of paneling, and rip it with a saw where the grooves were in the paneling and then we trimmed it down to size from there

I must say I liked the shot you did from under the trailer of the trench digging. It was reminiscent of the low angle shots Orson Welles did in Citizen Kane. Very film-noir in my opinion. I look forward to future episodes. 👍
