Some are nice and rare plants but everything is ridiculously overpriced. It’s available elsewhere for much less if you really look for it. I bought Tephrocactus plants from Home Depot at 3,99$ once. They had nice selection of cacti years back. 750$ for it is insane.

It was VERY small like 6 table nursery and the owner was just watching. I went too fast subconsciously from the anxiety and awkwardness 🤣
Must be awesome to have so many nice desirable plants when the price makes a big jump, kinda like when owning stocks… That doesn’t really happen in the plant industry, cool to see for the growers, sorry buyers… you could have bought in any time… the plants aren’t changing much, just the price
The nice thing about plant stocks is you can buy one and be able to cash in multiple times and still have the same stock 🤪 propagation rocks

Great video. The species here are so diverse! Plenty of super rare ones. But wow cacti and succulents are so expensive in the US. The supply and demand must be so different there compared to the UK and EU.

@@larissalynmarr4502 I can't imagine. Haven't seen any cactus shopping videos from New Zealand yet. Are there many nurseries over there? Have you tried the local cactus and succulent society cactus marts in NZ assuming there are any? Here in the U.K. I find that prices are a lot lower at British Cactus and Succulent society events as many are private growers/sellers.
@@Hero87 unfortunately we don’t have any nurseries that specialise in cacti and succulents as far as I know :( So you have to get you plants from private sellers. That’s probably why there aren’t any cactus/succulent shopping videos from NZ haha. There is one wholesale nursery near me though which is great, but they only have the more common ones that you find in general garden stores (which they are the suppliers of). Maybe one day I’ll open my own nursery ;)
@@Hero87 I haven’t been to a society meeting yet, but they do have sales there. I’ve been meaning to go but we’ve been in lockdown. Will definitely go once we’re out of lockdown again!

Check out sals cactus mart in filmore, ca they have a lot of affordable cacti. Not really rare cacti. I’ve been to California cactus center and was turned off by their high prices
