So...in this video that marks the "ideal racing line", and Prost is closer to that line while Senna is cutting WAAAAY inside of it and would see him straightlining across the corner and leaving the track (or throwing it sideways as he fights through the corner, taking Prost out), we somehow see evidence of Prost turning in too early? Prost stays out wider for for longer and Senna is tight over to the right far earlier...so that means Prost turned right too early? Sure, it's early in terms of what is ideal, and Senna may have tried to second guess that Prost would have been closer to the ideal as Prost was known to drive very clinically...but that means Senna failed to anticipate what Prost would do and drove into a gap that wasn't there. Anticipating successfully is important, but if you get it wrong, you don't get to blame the reality that you failed to predict. Prost took his line. Senna wouldn't/shouldn't have tried what he did had he known what Prost would do. The most you can say in Senna's defense is that Prost may have had a momentary lapse and not seen how close Senna was, maybe. Maybe. But Senna was chancing it, and should have been more ready to back off - he knew Prost was cornering, and he knew that he didn't know exactly what line Prost would take.

Prost completely turned in on Senna. The gap was vanishing but Prost turns way too late. Prost knows that this is his only chance to win the Championship, and butt-hurt that he's now second best to Senna crashes into him, just like Schumacher does to Hill years later. He knows exactly what he's doing. And he knows Ballestre will ultimately back him up. This tarnished Prost's reputation, just as Schumachers'. In my eyes Prost wins 3 of his Championships by default. I'm so glad that the petty little frenchmen have acheveed precisely dick all in the years since, and happily sit at the bottom of the current championship in their fully unmitigated french disaster of a team. Looks like Max was never going to make the corner anyway and turned in on Lewis who was on a tighter line that takes a later apex so as the video said wasn't given space for the line he was on. That's how I judged it at the time but I have to admit after seeing it a few years later I think it's now definitely Lewis' fault. He should have kept tighter and yielded on the tighter line and let Max just run himself off track. The problem is would the stewards force him to give back the position? Probably not and that's why Max did what he did. Max was on a mission that season and honestly we probably should just be grateful that his aggressive driving didn't actually result in any serious injury to himself or Lewis but my god it made for a great season. F1 is SOOOOO boring now.

Even James Hunt said that Prost was at fault and a cheat! The FIA should do the honourable thing and re-instate the win to Senna.
