The ONE THING Dota 2 does better than League of Legends!
Reupload because I messed up the resolution :,) Sorry everybody
Dear Riot, please allow us to unbind our mousewheel. League of Legends and dota 2 are best played at max zoom.
Let me know what you think about this style of video - and whether you'd prefer some music in the background? I really don't know. Trying to figure this CZcams thing out, so any feedback is as always appreciated.
In case you want to hang out while I lose my mind over competetive games (or WoW): twitch.tv/diehardfury

AVOID SOLOCRAFT The experience itself is great and so is the community but i highly recommend against playing here thanks to the way the GM carries himself. If it was just the ego and awful attitude towards the mostly paying playerbase, one could just turn a blind eye but perma bans are sent out left right and center with no prior warnings and without consideration of the server rulelist which was published himself. If you are looking for a solo vanilla / BC / WOTLK wow experience check out SPP. You host a server on your local machine that you can configure exactly how you want. You can even add bots if you want to play in groups or run BG's. Its very simple to use and requires no coding knowledge. Its also auto updated so bug fixes and bot ai improvements are automatically introduced without having to reinstall software / reconfigure and reboot the server. The original mangos bot framework that solocraft uses has since been updated and improved many times over and cant even be compared any longer. Both original and new updated versions are both open source projects that you shouldnt be paying for. In regards to open source projects it isnt illegal or considered theft to use and publish but there is a gentlemans agreement that if used in a seperate project credits should be given. In which case here on solocraft it isnt, and is in my opinion distasteful. Here is a link to the SPP git page github.com/celguar/spp-classics-cmangos/releases Here is a link to a setup and command guide www.briankoponen.com/world-warcraft-single-player-server-quick-start-guide/ And here is a link to how private servers work and why you shouldnt be giving them your money czcams.com/video/YIiGOgNdGts/video.html Do yourself a favor and avoid solocraft.

I was really interested in watching this, but I'm not even 4 minutes into the video and I'm already quite motion sick. A shame :(
I would have also found it interesting for you to also show their health and them attacking. Great video
camera rotation is eye cancer bro
That sword.... I must have it.. What is it called in that build? I remember seeing a dwarf with a similar sword on the original box for WoW. Fighting a wendigo I believe.
kinda missed out on the different auction house entrance, and completely passed by the cathedral
I love the alpha videos. Will you du teldrassil as well?
where is this server running? Can I join it, or do you both play in a LAN?
Priest Monk spec would have been hella cool ngl. I bet they just had so many ideas with that class they had to make it its own thing, but I like the idea of a melee priest thematically.
The entrance to Herod looks so much cooler
This dark mythic atmosphere beats all the latest v v ok e little pony "mythic" expansions, easily
I like the intro! Videos like this have really deepened my love and appreciation for WoW - so thank you so much for making the content that you do, and bringing it to other players <3
I hope you continue this series. Your research must take a while!
the revamp of the scarlet dungeons make them closer to the beta version than the old vanilla version, regardless of what people tell themselves in their hatred of anything new.
Something I learned kinda recently is actually the reason for the prevalence of entrances that curve to the side such as the alpha entrance to the bank in the trade district. They designed things like this on purpose because of performance reasons. I don’t quite understand the full implications because I’m not a game dev, but they essentially used this method as a way to completely shield the inside and outside from each other to limit strain on people’s computers. If you were inside of a building with a curved entrance, then you effectively were quarantined from the outside world and vice versa since there was never any point of direct eye contact. I guess curved entrances in 2000 was the equivalent of when your character has to slowly walk through a vent or duck under some trees or crawl through a small gap in the walls- modern games use these to slow you down and load the next area ahead of you while unloading the area behind you. They effectively instanced off places like Inns and, in this case, the alpha version of the bank but did so without needing a loading screen by utilizing the curved entrances. Kinda neat
Rend and skul are quite important rates for unique gear but I guess you excluded them since they are instanced mobs
Do we know what year/month that patch would be worked on?
there is some special magic around early wow
11:22 *BEAR HUG?* - The ability to give an enemy a hug which takes them out of action for 30 seconds. Tell me this is actual Blizzard material and not made up by the Alpha server project.
I’ve been playing and leveling a paladin! It’s definitely a lot of fun! I’ve never played the og version of WoW and I don’t have time to commit to a guild so this server has been great! Once you learn how to control the bots effectively you feel unstoppable! It’ll probably take a few dungeon wipes to get the hang of it though.
Great video. I love your content. Crazy how CZcams works in the modern day - all of these views from non-subscribed people. You have multiple videos with 10K+ views, yet only 2.12k subscribers. And I know it's the same people watching all of those vids with 10K+ views but they still don't subscribe... don't you want more of this people...?! to be a part of it all?! /endrant
Mate, I absolutely appreciate the support! It's been way too quiet on my channel lately, with life getting in the way, and while I never thought I'd even reach 2k subscribers ... your kind words mean the world! There's a lot of half-finished stuff I've been meaning to get back to, and this comment has definitely helped stoke the flame once again. I appreciate you! Expect more in the coming weeks. :)
OG lightforge helm :D
There is two types of "Rare mob" in Classic. There's Rares, then Elite Rares. The Elite Rares are the ones that drop blues. Most people aren't able to tell the difference because they don't use the default blizzard UI and frames but a Rare mob will have a silver dragon frame, and an Elite Rare will also have a silver dragon frame BUT wings on the dragon.
I always got the impression that area was meant to be a whole zone for Stratholme too, with the portal to Naxx being at the end. It just makes a lot more sense when u look at the world map and where Stratholme is in relation to the little "Quel'thalas" outpost with the tower. The Quel'thalas zone name probably just extends too far.
The issue with rares is that if they drop anything of value they become camped. Ideally, they should have given zone-specific buffs and/or extra experience. Something for people who encounter rares in the wild to get a little dopamine.
As someone who has also done alot of digging into old wow maps/clients, I think you are close to the right answer with your theories but not 100%. TLDR, I think that Stratholme itself (the instance) is the "northern lordaeron" zone, the tan-coloured zone on the alpha overworld map is alpha Dragon Isles & the jade green zone you focused on is in fact Quel'Thalas. The Elven Dock that has the "Quel'Thalas" text channels from 1.12.1 and onwards simply has those text channels because of rough/inaccurate zone lines/borders due to several reshaping of northern EK throughout the alpha/beta/release process. Hell even in TBC, the shape of Quel'Thalas changed. What reasoning do I have to come to my conclusions? Simple, when you walk around the open world version of Stratholme and look on the finished world map from 1.12.1, you are standing in that "northern lordaeron" zone. Also, I am pretty sure that, canonically, Stratholme is a port city which means it must extend to the shore, especially since the humans of Lordaeron did business with the High Elves. You would assume in-game maps are meant to be canonical (with unexplored regions such as Northrend omitted openly and intentionally) therefore this zone MUST be, canonically speaking, Stratholme. As for the distinction between what is Dragon Isles and what is Quel'Thalas, I turn to the hidden "Designer Island" map. This map is quite obviously an early version of a Dragon Isles raid, dungeon or zone map. This is obvious when you compare the large Lovecraftian structure in the middle of zone to official artwork of the Dragon Isles that depicts the exact same structure. Also, the yellowy/tan colour of the mysterious alpha zone above WPL that you showed matches the colour of the ground on this "Designer Island" map. One final nail in the coffin for your theory I think is that there are official early IN-GAME (the important part) world maps that INCLUDE the Dragon Isles as an ADDITIONAL disconnected zone that is absent in the maps you showed. This means that the maps you were comparing these alpha zones to was incomplete. You were trying to fit 3 zones (strath, dragon isles & quel'thalas) into the space of 2. In reality, only the zone markers for Quel'Thalas & Strath exist on the maps you showed. You'd have to use the more complete map to figure out the Dragon Isle's placement. It's hard to convey my point in a youtube comment section but I hope I got it across with no pictures. EDIT: I also forgot to mention that it is safe to assume Quel'Thalas is the most likely candidate for the "green zone" because it also contains Zul'Aman, which would more likely be green than tan/sandy/deserty.

I like how the untextured Naxx model looks much closer to a Black Citadel (Fully upgraded necropolis) from WC3, as opposed to the final one which looks just like a regular necropolis.
Presumably the ghosts are for warlocks to farm shards
Your content reminds me of old MadSeasonShow and Hayven Games (RIP brother) videos... which is to say, it's brilliant! You've earned a sub.
i agree, it's weird that u can't unbind/rebind mousewheel and riot should change it, but i disagree with dota being better overall when it comes to keybinds, because in league u can use ctrl AND alt AND shift as modifiers for all ur binds, which is imo just way better than in dota with only one modifier. also a higher number of available things to keybind is not inherently an improvement. funnily enough there are literally MORE available options in leagues "hotkeys" tab than in dotas. u literally have LESS options for different keybinds (actual customization) in dota, due to the lack of multiple modifiers. also wadafak is an "fps mouse" supposed to be XD i see zero problems with playing any game with a superlight. but the tape is funny. gl in league^^
Profound
dying probably

You can actually lock your config files to read only
i thought you're gonna compare Ahri vs QoP
In my opinion, league could learn a few things about item passives and turn rate too.
I actually love the fact Dota has turnrate. At first it was such a weird thing, coming from LoL and HoN, but over time it really grew on me. Turn rate is one thing - the way dota treats the vertical axis is another. It's so much more consistent internally compared to League. Take Tristana for example: she can't jump over Veigar Arena, or Shaco traps without getting stunned/feared, but she can jump out of Jarvan ult for example. I feel like Dota interactions are way more consistent, a lot of the time you can correctly predict the outcome of an interaction without having experienced it. League is literally a 50:50 maybe you do maybe you don't coinflip with these kinda things.
@@DArch706 it's just game knowledge. u probably know a lot more about dota than league. j4 ult is creating terrain. veigar cage/shaco box is CC. tristana jump cannot go through CC, but goes over terrain. Z axis doesn't exist to hit registration, there's nothing incosistent about that^^ ofc it's a coinflip if u literally don't know it. just as it is a coinflip for me as a dota beginner, if i try to jump out of disruptor field or clockwerk cogs or whatever
you are honestly a clown for saying that its a major problem. git gud as you said. in my 7 years of experience i never faced this problem
It's not about the problem itself, it could absolutely just be ignored, I could also just plug in my other mouse and not face the issue. The point is that this is a feature which has no use in competetive play yet cannot be tweaked/disabled. On the other hand you have Dota where you can literally bind a hotkey to switch the auto attack behaviour of your hero mid game without going into options (nice for illus etc).
I ward with my mid mouse button and have never scrolled in wtf are you doing

Hey was going to ask you how you move your camera because I thought you're using WASD for that You mentioned "Camera Grip" can you please explain what does it mean? Really curious to know as I'd like to try it! Great video btw!
Camera Grip is when you press the grip key, typically Mouse 3 (the mousewheel), to move your mouse. I've used edge pan for 10 years in many RTSes and MOBAs. I tried Camera Grip for a week and never turned back. It is the most precise and practical method of camera control in my opinion.
I use WASD for camera in Dota 2 and LoL. I guess the vast majority of players use edge pan + minimap clicking
Ooooh interesting Thank you both for sharing! Will give both methods a try and see how it feels : )
I might make a short video showcasing the benefits and differences, also kinda curious to see how popular/unpopular camera grip is within the moba community
As someone who has played mostly rts and mobas for 15 years in high rankish (Grandmaster in SC2, Legend in Dota) I think it all comes down to what game you are playing and what your personal preference is, I personally use edge pan but camera grip can also be fine. Both have their ups and downs so its definitely worth trying it out
There is a single instant in League of legends where I and also some high elo players actually use the mousewheel. When you see someone that is about to take the life saving thresh lantern, you will also see many experienced players flash onto the lantern, put their trinket ward onto it etc etc etc to block the player from taking that lantern. Many people do actually zoom in nowadays to still be able to click the lantern. I know that's a super niche thing to do, but I just wanted to share that little bit of trivia, idk, here, take it.
Thank you so much for that, had no idea about it!
Wdym, I have put my trinket to by my scrollwheel, and my scrolling it doesnt do anything at all. My camera is stuck at the fully zoomed out state.

except, it is able to be disabled, as I stated I have done.@@DArch706
Nice, that would drive me crazy. Don't even have to unbind scroll-wheel, just gotta have an option to disable camera zoom lol. Would imagine a multi-billion dollar company could figure that out
Yeah, exactly. Should just be able to customize stuff like that imo :) Thanks for watching!

When you started metnioning the survival system that they promised us, it made me start to remember why I had so much beef with WoW fir the first decade. I was really excited for WoW and all of the features they promised us when they were getting us hyped for the game. I was really REALLY upset when I found out I quit much better MMOs for a game I put a lot of time into only to find out 80% of the content they promised us never saw the light of day. The game didn't deliver a single thing I was hoping for and wound up being the worst MMO of all time in my eyes because of it.

Hi, did you end up finishing this challenge and how did it go?
Hi, thanks for asking :) I ended up putting it on hold, because I was a bit strapped for time and had to prioritise. But if you are interested in trying yourself, I'd say it's quite fun at first, but it does become a slog - once you find your rhythm, its not really more or less challenging than normal leveling. Just a whooooooole lot slower haha. And Id say it's definitely doable to hit 60, just a matter of not losing concentration. My paladin is lvl 33 rn, maybe Ill return to it eventually:)
