Rip dock 😭
looks like it were just a few inches from entering the house.
We had 10 - 12 inches to spare. Idalia last year was much worse ( stronger storm .. similar Path ).
What holds on the head unit to the water softener? Mine just sits in there. Seems like it should have a clip or a locking deal. Just picked it up at a garage sale. Any help would be awesome.
I have a problem with the water continuously draining! What is the solution?
Normally new Seals & Spacers ( 60125 for Fleck 5600 ) is the solution. See this article on our website for more information. www.softenerparts.com/Fleck-Valves--LEAKS-out-the-DRAIN-HOSE_c_316.html
For the hardness... the system defaults to 25 what? grains or 25 parts per million?
25 GRAINS per Gallon. And each GRAIN = 17.1 ppm. 25 grains = 427.5 ppm
Hello, Is there only in gallons way to see on the screen? Can i change for litres? And i really cant understand the set up for qubic feet 1:00 - what should i declare in this place? Could You please help - i cant find explanation in manual form Pentair corp.
The manual references on pages 39 -42 that the control can be changed to Metric units. Top of page 42 explains how to get to "professional" mode programming. see www.softenerparts.com/manuals/logix%20740%20760%20255%20268%20268fa%20performa%203003714%20re.pdf

Thank you for this! I bought an injection head from someone on marketplace and couldn't figure out what was going wrong until I found out I was using an air injection valve, and not the regular, but I didn't have the money to buy another head unit. Thank goodness I found your video!

How do you adjust the conditioner for hardness?
EXC video, well paced, clear! TY
Hello Andrew. I’m having a hard time finding out how to set up this controller… we have less than a year living in our home, and we had to clean the septic tank twice (and a week later is already full of water again now). and I had local softener companies here to get it checked, but they are just interested in selling their system, saying they don't know how to operate this device. So if you please can help with it showing a video. That'll be amazing. Thank you.
Wohoho, Andrew’s on fire! 🔥
Andrew’s the GOAT
Yeah, but how do you remove that basket? Looks like it goes on easy but trying to remove it is a whole other problem.
The top distributor basket is not really meant to "come off" once installed. You can remove by using EXTREME Force -- likely breaking in the process. A new Top Distributor ( PN MD1203 for 1.05" O.D. Riser Pipe ) would then be required.
You did a really great job with this video. I watched another video first where the guy said, "depressurize the system and then...", but he never said how to depressurize it. Chances are that if i already knew how to do that, i probably know how to do the rest of it. Thank you for being detailed.
All O rings go in the valve cover. The O rings on the cam did not seal correctly as installed on the video. Fyi
My softener was draining constantly. I closed the bypass and opened the valve assembly. All the Orings that you are replacing are present and accounted for - the figure 8, the one on the drain plunger, the 2 on the rotor, the large on in the cap. The problem is that I found a 1" Oring broken into 5 separate sections. 2 were under the drain plunger, and 3 were on top of the drain plunger. Where did this 1" Oring come from? It is not part of the seal kit. I wonder if it is out of the bypass valve, but that is working fine with no leaks when open or closed. Any ideas? I will replace all the ones from the kit, but I fear that the machine will not be functional if I don't figure out where the broken 1" Oring came from and replace that one too!
Update. I remove the large plastic ring clamp and lifted up the valve body. The basket below has a 1" oring and 2 larger 2" orings. These 3 are also available in a kit which i ordered. This 1" oring is the one that broke and the pieces made their way up.
Thank-you, well done and very helpful!
Glad it was helpful to you. Thanks for the positive feedback. It is alwasy nice to hear.
Wow...this is sooooo much more of a pain in the a$$ than the old design !!!! The old style SIMPLY had 2 screws that made changing our the timer motor a TWO MINUTE JOB !!!! Whoever designed and approved this new method for change out was a genuine DORK !!!!! There is ZERO excuse for making what was a simple and no-risk TWO MINUTE job into this TEN minute , parts-loss-risking fiasco...I am STUNNED at the brazen stupidity of whoever designed AND approved of this type of motor change !!!
Very informative. Thanks for posting
Where do I start troubleshooting if my drainflow is releasing water constantly? Also sounds like a pressure leak noise around the meter assembly w/condensation but cannot feel a leak. Is it stuck in regeneration mode? Can’t find a video for this problem. Thx.
It's usually the Seals and Spacers, PN 60125, see: www.softenerparts.com/Fleck-Valves--LEAKS-out-the-DRAIN-HOSE_c_316.html Can be stuck in Regeneration, and you'd SEE that on the front of the controller, see: www.softenerparts.com/Fleck-5600--Manual-Regenerate--Cycle-Times_c_309.html and video, czcams.com/video/0ng8Kq5oFTc/video.html and if you find it STUCK, see: www.softenerparts.com/fleck_5600_rebuild_stuck_valve and video, czcams.com/video/AtX7sq8Ygm8/video.html
Where can I get this item
Can you do this with the water softener in bypass or you have to turn the whole water off?
If your ByPass is in good working order, it will stop all flow to the valve and allow you to disconnect, and work on the valve. If the ByPass is "leaking" ( not shutting off the water to the valve 100% ) THEN you'd need to turn of the Water source. But Normally the ByPass will work for shutting off the flow to the Valve Head. That is its function.
@@WatermanAndy Thank you.
I got the back off the 5600 and can see the see where the cams engage the plunger. So at what stage looking at the back whenever the plunger is depressed should suction start right away?
Suction cycle STARTS when the Brine Cam Gear has FULLY depressed the Brine Valve Piston assembly ( PN 60032 ). NOTE: You have to move just past the words "Brine Rinse" before the Suction cycle starts ( and the Brine Valve Piston is pushed down / opened in the rear of control ). Reference video, czcams.com/video/KjL6qwd3ZJQ/video.html and
With the button out wouldn't it be better to turn on the water and flush for a few seconds before putting it back on?
Really not necessary or advisable ( the flow would be very great = over 7 gpm ). It's only the "Button" hole and the area behind the DLFC Button that some time has some "Debris", or in the case of highly chlorinated "city" water, you might notice the "hole" is swelling "shut" and restricting the flow rate too much.
So thankful for this video. The manual says nothing about this at all. Very important since my new unit did not have this installed properly. The retainer was in about 1 thread deep and the button was flopping around behind it. I was wondering what it was for when trying screw in the pipe fitting. I surmised it might be some kind of flow control or maybe a protective dust cap for the button. Just wanted the stupid manual to say so instead of guessing. Thanks so much for this video and leaving it so that 8 years later it helped someone like me. Bravo.
Glad to hear it was helpful. Sounds like you did have a faulty installation of the DLFC button / washer. Anyone needing the removal tool, DLFC retainer or a new DLFC ( drain line flow control ) "button" can find them here: www.softenerparts.com/fp13759.htm
My GE water softener slowly drips out the drain line in service mode. Could it be the seals causing this? It's only 2 years old.

Thank you sir that was helpful.
Thanks for the info.
At 4:00, your comment about the o-ring was the solution for my issue of a properly working system but no soft water. I did not find anywhere else on CZcams or install manuals about making sure the tube is inserted through the o-ring up into the valve head. Thanks! Also, those water hardness test strips are junk. The Hach 5B Hardness Test Kit is essential.
I did this to my , thank you, I do have a ? Should it be hard to turn cam gear by hand once’s tie down , does it loosen up once its under water pressure, its seen hard to turn or did I do something wrong
It is not meant to be turned by hand. It's a very tight fit, as the Rotor against the Seals must block off / restrict water flow. So it will always be hard to turn "by hand".
Thank you so much for getting back to me , I have been trying to fix my that doesn’t want to regenerate, I changed the motor , the position switch and wire harness and still doing same , the wire harness had the black cable broken So I was sure it was that , now it try regenerate now and all it does is blink but doesn’t do anything, I did all the seals thinking it was too hard to turn by small motor and nothing
Do you think is the PWA Board?

Where can I buy GE softner parts. My motor is broken and need a newer one but all the vendors have the medal instead of the plastic versions?
All motors used metal gears, but manufacturer try substituting plastic gears, and that failed. All replacement motors have metal gears, and can be purchase with New Matching metal Cam Gear. You will find them listed on our website for 3/4" and 1" valve models. www.softenerparts.com/sears_northstar
Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for making this video.
how to fix cam gear no stop?
Replace the microswitch that "rides" the Cam Gear
Why don’t you show the back as you give instructions?
Thank you for the video, Andrew. Very helpful. However, I can not locate a single video of someone *removing* the CAM. Your video shows how to install it but is limited to how to line it up properly. It seemed like you edited out actually getting the part fully seated in position. I've tried everything to remove the cam and it won't budge. Anyone have any suggestions?
Mine was stuck as well. Didn't want to use too much force for fear of cracking the plastic housing. Sprayed some penetrator oil on the top and let it work for 30 minutes. It tapped right out with help from a hammer. Everything went well after that....
When I got down to the seals, they were covered with water. I didn't see that in your video. Does that mean I have a problem other than the seals?
The video was a "dry" valve that had been long removed from a tank ( system ). It would be normal for the inside of your valve body to have water inside.
Thank you.
I have a 440i that is not backwashing, no noise. It seems to be going through the process mechanically but no sign of water flow.
My Tapworks AD11 looks very similar to this. The motor housing the series of cogs had cracked and the cogs had become misaligned. I tried turning the cam by hand. Boy was it stiff. Useful video thanks.
Thank you for this informative video. I feel confident enough to do this now myself!
Is this for Whirlpool WHELJ1?
Yes, the Rotor Disc 7199232 and Seal Kit 7129716 are used in the Whirlpool model WHELJ1. Reference: www.softenerparts.com/7129716.htm And you can see that in the WHELJ1 Service Manual, Pages 22 and 23, www.whirlpoolwatersolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/7345493-WHELJ1-Eng_F-Sm.pdf
Ciao il mio logix sia programma sempre. Ha batterie?? Posso sapere come si sostituiscono??
Why is my softener re generate at mid day
Either the of time day is incorrect... or it's stuck ( stripped gear ), or the Flapper Valve Discs are "open" due to "debris" in the valve body. Please email us for assistance. CZcams comments is not the best place to ask questions, if want detailed answers. support@softenerparts.com
I don't no what happened I have had softners for the last 30 years but this is the first time I've seen this problem the time clock time is correct it will re generatemid day once a week its not very easy to get parts here
