    Hello Andrew. I’m having a hard time finding out how to set up this controller… we have less than a year living in our home, and we had to clean the septic tank twice (and a week later is already full of water again now). and I had local softener companies here to get it checked, but they are just interested in selling their system, saying they don't know how to operate this device. So if you please can help with it showing a video. That'll be amazing. Thank you.

      The top distributor basket is not really meant to "come off" once installed. You can remove by using EXTREME Force -- likely breaking in the process. A new Top Distributor ( PN MD1203 for 1.05" O.D. Riser Pipe ) would then be required.

    My softener was draining constantly. I closed the bypass and opened the valve assembly. All the Orings that you are replacing are present and accounted for - the figure 8, the one on the drain plunger, the 2 on the rotor, the large on in the cap. The problem is that I found a 1" Oring broken into 5 separate sections. 2 were under the drain plunger, and 3 were on top of the drain plunger. Where did this 1" Oring come from? It is not part of the seal kit. I wonder if it is out of the bypass valve, but that is working fine with no leaks when open or closed. Any ideas? I will replace all the ones from the kit, but I fear that the machine will not be functional if I don't figure out where the broken 1" Oring came from and replace that one too!

    • @dwaynejohnson6277
      @dwaynejohnson6277 Před 9 měsíci

      Update. I remove the large plastic ring clamp and lifted up the valve body. The basket below has a 1" oring and 2 larger 2" orings. These 3 are also available in a kit which i ordered. This 1" oring is the one that broke and the pieces made their way up.

      It's usually the Seals and Spacers, PN 60125, see: www.softenerparts.com/Fleck-Valves--LEAKS-out-the-DRAIN-HOSE_c_316.html Can be stuck in Regeneration, and you'd SEE that on the front of the controller, see: www.softenerparts.com/Fleck-5600--Manual-Regenerate--Cycle-Times_c_309.html and video, czcams.com/video/0ng8Kq5oFTc/video.html and if you find it STUCK, see: www.softenerparts.com/fleck_5600_rebuild_stuck_valve and video, czcams.com/video/AtX7sq8Ygm8/video.html

    • @WatermanAndy
      @WatermanAndy Před rokem

      If your ByPass is in good working order, it will stop all flow to the valve and allow you to disconnect, and work on the valve. If the ByPass is "leaking" ( not shutting off the water to the valve 100% ) THEN you'd need to turn of the Water source. But Normally the ByPass will work for shutting off the flow to the Valve Head. That is its function.

    • @WatermanAndy
      @WatermanAndy Před rokem

      Really not necessary or advisable ( the flow would be very great = over 7 gpm ). It's only the "Button" hole and the area behind the DLFC Button that some time has some "Debris", or in the case of highly chlorinated "city" water, you might notice the "hole" is swelling "shut" and restricting the flow rate too much.

    So thankful for this video. The manual says nothing about this at all. Very important since my new unit did not have this installed properly. The retainer was in about 1 thread deep and the button was flopping around behind it. I was wondering what it was for when trying screw in the pipe fitting. I surmised it might be some kind of flow control or maybe a protective dust cap for the button. Just wanted the stupid manual to say so instead of guessing. Thanks so much for this video and leaving it so that 8 years later it helped someone like me. Bravo.
