It's supposed to be a commentary on me too since it is written from the perspective of the wife of professor who is accused of abusing his powers with his female students. Hi Julia! I hope you're having a nice day. I happened to just come across your CZcams channel and I must say that your content is extremely pleasant and enjoyable to watch! :). The book that I am currently reading is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I haven't made that much progress on it as it is hard to really get into it I would say with how dense the text is as well as the fact that it is a classic. This is very interesting. Especially the detail about the possible origin of the use of the word „Master“ for the title character. The Master and Margarita has been one of my favourite novels since I first read it when it came out in an Icelandic translation when I was a teenager. I have reread it several times, in Icelandic and English (not in Russian, sadly). I also love, and reread regularly Black Snow, Bulgakov's roman à clef about his relationship with the Moscow Art Theatre and Stanislavsky. Thank you very much for this video!

Great analysis of one of my favourite books, thank you. ❤ I've read a couple of different translations into English and a little bit of it in Russian - I always recommend the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation.

Peak of magic realism. But I still like A Dog's Heart more. The only thing I dont like about Bulgakov's writing is the chaos of the names. He can use one of 2 or 3 combinations of a name for the same character. And plus 1 a nickname.

It's great to see you and glad you're well but do not feel bad - moving is the worst. I read Lolita when I was a teenager too and LOVED it. I thought it was beautifully written, sensual, and naughty. But then I tried to re-read it last year (as a 38/39 year old) and couldn't stomach it. I DNFed it like a third of the way in. LOL I'm also on a similar reading journey as you (focused on non-fiction and classics) and it has been great. I do sprinkle in contemporary and historical fiction to mix it up.
