Lard is not recommended when using the Presto® ProFry™ immersion element deep fryer. Solid fat will not melt uniformly and will cause severe smoking. It may also cause the unit to overheat resulting in the reset button tripping. In addition, solid fat will solidify once it has cooled making it very difficult to remove or insert the control assembly. u Use vegetable oil for deep frying, such as corn, sunflower, peanut, or soybean. Deep frying foods in olive oil is not recommended because it has a lower smoking temperature.

Yes, the regulator will always rock at 15 PSI. We recommend having your gauge tested at a local county extension office or sending it to us to see if the gauge is within the acceptable tolerance. The 08800 Presto® EverSharp® electric knife sharpener cannot sharpen electric serrated knives or knives serrated on both sides. To sharpen non-electric serrated knives, use only the slots in Stage 2 and only sharpen the smooth side of the knife blade (the side without the grooves). Draw the knife through the slots using very little pressure. Note: Each time the knife is sharpened, a portion of the serration is being removed. Over a long period of time, the serration on the knife may be completely removed and you may have a knife blade similar to a utility knife.

Thank you for your suggestion regarding a cover. When brewing the coffee, it's time rather than power that makes it stronger. Generally you will want the tip of the vortex to touch the bottom of the carafe. For most bases, the knob it at about the 1:00 -2:00 position.

Yes, after the oil has preheated (usually about 20 minutes) the light will go off indicating it's ready for food.

The Control Master® heat control on your Presto® griddle will cycle on and off - this is normal. The heat will rise to the selected temperature and then cycle itself off, turning the light off. This continues throughout the duration of your food cooking to maintain the selected temperature.

@@PrestoAppliances I think that I was missing the gasket that controls the steam being released. It kept popping up and once even popped out completely when I tried to straighten it up. I ordered another gasket from the Presto website and waiting for that to arrive so I can determine if that was the real issue. If so, I will be re-processing my soup jars next weekend.

Our canners meet both USDA and NCHFP guidelines for safe canning procedures. We have recently added the following insert to our instructions. (1) Use the amount of water called for in the instructions (3 quarts) if using the canner for no more than 100 minutes. If using the canner for more than 100 minutes increase the water to 4 quarts. (2) When pressure cooking or sterilizing at 15 psi use the pressure regulator, not the dial gauge, as the indicator of pressure. If the pressure regulator is rocking there is 15 pounds of pressure in the canner. Once the regulator is rocking, the heat needs to be reduced so the regulator rocks continuously, but slowly and gently. See video here. From instruction manual Important Safeguards: CAUTION! Do not use on any outdoor LP gas burner or a gas range over 12,000 BTU’s. Using too large of an element or over 12,000 BTU’s may soften the canner causing the bottom to warp. It may also result in property damage and/or personal injury. Do not use this pressure canner for other than intended use. Let us know if you have any further questions.

@@PrestoAppliances There is no shortage of hot-air poppers in Canada. None of them very good. Arguably there is a market for the PopLite Plus with the right retailer (ie Canadian Tire). Retailers love exclusive deals. If you come in below Cuisinart's price point, it should work. As for cUL, you can easily obtain it via unified certification. Alternatively you can work with the CSA if you want help reaching overseas markers. Just throwing this out there FYI. I don't really expect to see anything on store shelves any time soon lol.

If your regulator is rocking fast, you will need to turn your heat down so it's slow and gentle, like this video.

It does it at 14psi not to mention the entire bottom slotted metal piece started pealing off in after only 2 uses. So much for quality

Give us a call so we can discuss this. The rack can discolor due to the minerals in your water. There isn't any coating on it. It's not a food safety issue.

Two of the restrictors will open completely, but the restrictor with the lever (this is the restrictor above the cord) will only open partially. This is by design to reduce the amount of unpopped kernels.
