DR-Z250 DR250SR Djebel SJ45A rear shock stripdown
The DR-z400 is well covered in the manuals, but in both the parts book and workshop manual for the 250's the rear shock is just given as one part, with no attempt to show how the shocker comes apart to remove the spring. This video provides a basic stripdown showing how to remove the spring and explains a couple of pitfalls you might come across. Hope the video is of some hope to someone.

Taffy Dakar 2015 Sunday rideouts. After an overnight deluge we went out green laning, starting off with Sarn Helen. Where the riding was going well I didn't have chance to get my camera out, but where the going was a bit tougher, I had a chance to grab a few short clips.......... We all enjoyed ourselves.
PVCMC offroad day April 2015

It's that hill again, only this time not frozen solid, a lovely day in April. A fundraising off road day in aid of Blood Bikes and the Local Hospital special care baby unit. Organised by Pembrokeshire Vintage and Classic Motorcycle Club, by Mr Grizzly and family, thanks eveyone .

A freezing cold day and a slippery steep and difficult climb out of a woodland quarry. Most of us tried it, not everyone made it. Even the best rider in the world isn't going anywhere if there is no grip. A fun day though I think everyone would agree.

Well this looks a bit more fun than tearing across Goodwick Parrog in a 950 Saxo with a big bore exhaust, trying to impress the girls. All the cars, with the exception of the first one, are road cars, up until the black Mk2 Cortina at about 8 minutes. Filmed , on holiday several years ago . Note the strict enforcement of health and safety legislation, whereby it's compulsory to put your fingers...
Taffy Dakar 2014 Sunday Rideouts " The swimming club"

On the Sunday of the Taffy Dakar event we went out riding with 2 Marshals on lanes around the Sennybridge area of Mid Wales. At one stage we were on what the sign said were ' Forest trails '. After some engine drowning here are some of the group getting moving again through some fairly seriously flooded sections of the lane.
Heavies weekend Avon Dassett , Bedford RL in Micks hole
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 11 lety
Here we are at Avon Dassett again. How annoying is when your mates show you how its done? The first driver through the 'hole' picks up a piece of wood which keeps water away from the fan, and he drives straight through. I have a go, the water's rather deep, the fan dips in and blows water all over the distributor, plugs and leads, resulting in a huge misfire and loss of power in the RL, along w...

Shot back in the day. End of a dry summer, where's all the mud? Never mind, we'll have to make do with light volcanic dust, which seems just as easy to get stuck in.

Heavies weekend at Avon Dassett again. Chris's Scammell Explorer showing us the extent of the articulation of the suspension as it negotiates the gully at the rear of the site. Shot first from the outside, then from the cab. Copied from a deteriorating video originally filmed by John Bodsworth.

It doesn't come much better than this. The title says it all. Footage taken I believe at the Bovington Military Vehicle Trial held by the AWDC at Bovington Camp in Dorset in 1991. This isn't the marked sections, so this must be leisure time activity, in the pouring rain too. Lets get these old videos saved before they deteriorate any further. Original camera work by John Bodsworth.

I don't think it's fair to let on where this video was taken, but it's safe to assume it's down under somewhere. If your idea of a fun day is wandering round a scrap yard dodging rats and falling off precariously balanced scrap iron, then this is the video for you. I might say you must be nearly as sad as myself. Anyone who can come up with a count for how many abandoned military vehicles we se...

Mr Suffield showing his nautical background by attempting to take the old Bedford RL for a swim. We did have fun back in those days, this video was taken in 1999/2000 at the November Bonfire bash at Avon Dassett quarry in Warwickshire. It's a tribute to these old trucks really. We used to hammer them round the quarry all weekend getting into a right old state. Then we would drive back home 200 ...

Back in the days when running a heavy vehicle wasn't quite as expensive as it is now much fun was to be had at Avon Dassett Quarry. ' Heavy ' weekends were run a couple of times a year and we entertained ourselves either driving, or watching others in the mud. You just can't buy mud of that quality these days. Lets get these old videos saved before they deteriorate any further. Camera work by J...

Back in the nineties there were regular 'Heavies' meetings at Avon Dassett quarry in Warwickshire. This clip is from those times and features some well known people / vehicles. The original videos are deteriorating so I'm going to try and put some clips up on CZcams for all to see. Video believed to be taken by John Bodsworth, thanks John.

Th RL was a good truck we still had a few when I was in the Army. Petrol engine as I remember.
Excellent truck, they'd go anywhere we had them as gun tractors in Cyprus and Libya with n43 Regt RA.
The image is too offensive
By the look of it certainly not ex REME people !
Totally agree. all brute force and ignorance. Did nobody preserve the steel, candy twist overall rear chains to fit the Scammell? Real beasts to handle and fit but the traction is unbelievable. Basic REME Recovery Manual calculations and reading the metal collars that state the breaking strain could avoid dangerous failure of under rated tow ropes too.
Do it with a bendy bus !
I used to see plenty of RLs in U.A.E back in the 70s, always loved the look of them,
Cool!
An oldy but a goody.. we used to operate them with NZ Army.. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿

Amazing truck
I used to own an Explorer the blue and white one is my old mates truck Chris!
What motor does it have no turbo
A 6 cylinder Gardner, natural aspiration, could be 8 or 10 liter engine
Why are not the rear axles "locked" and spinning when the front axle is spinning? My circa 1967 US Army Deuce in Vietnam had a lock up selector that would lock all 6 wheels, combined with the low range low gear for amazing crawling.
this is a lot older than a 1967 truck haha diff locks wouldn't even have been a thing when this old girl was built
@@gav7256 Got it. Thanks.
i defy anyone to not be rooting for the old girl to get out by her own steam, addictive and enthralling to watch :)
Shouldnt you put tracks on both pairs of rear wheels on such terrain?
The Dinky Toy model of that still resides in my collection, must have been around 1958-9 it was described as a Tank Recovery Vehicle to go with my Centurion Tank and Transporter (still got those too! Those are tyres that will have an almost impossible job of supplying traction in those conditions first time.
Trying to get out of the hole the Scammell was 6x3 or 6x4 at best, diff locks would have made a big difference, but he got clear in the end, well done.
get that clown out of that truck and buy him a tonka toy to play with
Our Athelstone ( South Australia )Country fire service truck in the early seventies was one of those 4wd RL Bedford s
Muppet.
Decent truck, good video, I remember the points were a sod to keep doing on these, overall great times.
Hey Steve, how did you refil the gas reservoir? Also does the adjustment knob on your gas reservoir works? Suggestions for if it stops working and the shocker turns too soft?
more money than sense
mmhh needed diff locks to cure that
GO ON GIRL!!!! Happy memories of my old explorer i had to sell back in 1994 when my business went bust. 😪 i think he needs different tyres on that or new ones! Like mine not much tread left of the old sand tyres! Proper job though she got out!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂👍🏻🇬🇧
I've just bought an RL and keen to get in touch with owners ;-)
Imperiale
That's what that truck was designed to do.
That suspension travel, dang
Brilliant bit of film thanks
i had them for sea coal down the local beach at horden co durham
There's some amount of flex in that chassis!
Cold squeeze rivets - very strong!
if you don't first succeed then try and try again, and i've only seen three of these amazing power machines two was back in the 60s at an army show and the other one in the 90s at at a recovery firm.
I see, there is no Tyre on the Utes rear axle 3.02 mins
What sort of jolly good fun is this???
The first two vehicles are Bedford RL's Bedford is the UK arm of General motors and the first truck uses the old GM stovepipe 6
Классная техника, подскажите модель первого авто!!!
Bedford RL
Think a number of people would be interested in restoring some of those vehicles if they knew where it was, especially the Bedfords
beast of a truck! love these machines pity there's not many around no more.
friends dad had one of these called big Boris could pull what we gave it to pull and more! sad thing was it blew the crank in england and had to be left there pity! it was a monster !!!
Yeah , thank you for your helpful comments Terry, but when in 3 foot deep water the ends of the fan dip in the water and like a paddle wheel dump buckets of water over the distributor. When this happens it's a bit beyond WD40, try emptying a bucket of water over your dizzy.
Good to see the old Bedfords playing in the mud. My grandfather used to make the transmissions & axles at the factory, during the war churchill tanks and military trucks was his contribution to hitler's downfall.
Yep we owe a lot to dads and grandads so let's get out of theEU!
+Chris Parkhurst My Dad was in the BEF, Dunkirk and back again in 1944 at D Day in an office bodied QL in which he chased about Northern France , ending up in Holland during his time in the RASC. So he was THERE. He was desperate for Britain to be in what was then called ' The Common Market' and never forgave General DeGaulle for blocking Britains admission into what was then 'The six'. I voted to go in in 1975.

Go and look up Daihatsu F20 on google. Sold as the Taft in some markets , but I believe was called Fourtrak for the British market.
That is nit a fourtrak!! That is a umm
I've got two of these, great vehicles, and cheaper than a Unimog...and the sound of that Flathead V8 is pure magic...
what did you pay for yours? would they be good for trail riding on the side?
***** a running one with a little TLC can be pick up for around 1 K Euros in France.
+Guillaume Laplanche .
I've got one of these, They're great, the flathead makes the best noise ever...!
Excellent video of one of the best weekends I've had on an off-road bike. That's me entering the water at 1:40, scary stuff....lol. Well done to everyone for making it through...
I hope we all had a great time, we seemed to gell as a group, I'm glad I had the opportunity to take this clip. It takes so long to get your gloves off and camera out that everyone's gone!
If only they came with diff locks. Lovely trucks
