No; if we hated you, we would ask you to do a Debian GUI install. 😂
I keep yelling at the screen … make && make DESTDIR=$LFS install … but even that’s redundant as any good Makefile would have install dependent on all (or the targets).
I use mozilla on linux, and for TOR the exit nodes are at risk, the first node can see your IP tho
I agree - if you're just going to use a bunch of Windows programs, don't try it with Linux. Linux is fine for a FEW Windows programs with Wine, a FEW. If you have to commonly use Windows programs, but not often, install a virtual machine. If you want to play video games and you don't want to use Windows, wait for SteamOS to come out, it's already sort of out, but it still needs work. Don't try to use Linux just to run Windows programs. It's no end to headaches.
hello. When trying to reset the internet, I'm receiving the error: stock settings loaded
explorerpatcher is stable about 94% it does freeze my whole pc and crash it
Bruh AMD is just fine for Davinci just saying... You should use it with rustcl and it just works if rocm isn't doing it for ya.. also easiest way to run davinci and never have issues on any distro is to install it through davincibox
RIP Titus's sanity
Many times I used Awsome wm I had memory leak. Does anyone knows this issue?
I’ve been dabbling with Linux for about a year now and I am just now getting to the point of understanding that I have basically just been playing around with varying styles of debians my entire time. Went from Pop!_OS to Ubuntu LTS to mint and back to Pop. All just reskinned Debian
Thanks for posting, while you was rambling one began work on a popup card for a friend. Listening to people ramble about things is a great way to pick up the right kind of thinking. Cheers.
"I should just write a script for this" is essentially how Gentoo started :P Also, Gentoo seamlessly switches from binaries to compilation when you start tweaking the settings - other distros have a whole separate process if you want to change something and recompile a package
This the perfect lullaby 😁
I love my Tumbleweed Slowroll, great Video
This shit is too hard. Why give up what i already know works perfectly for me? My games don't work, especially VR ones. Many of my games are labeled as "borked" on the proton database thingy. VR headset itself won't turn on when connected either. I tried for a day to get used to it and didn't get anywhere close. Anything longer is just too much of my limited free time wasted. When I get home, exhausted from work, I just want my games to work. And every time I tried to get help I got the usual "RTFM" and "oh thats easy _insert big block of terminal gibberish."_
I’m an old Slack user. It’s cozy and I love the stability and no fanfare.
An MMC-lite for general linux admin. Users and groups, paths, network locations. Keys. Certificates. Systemd timers and services. But at that point it's probably more of a GTK app than what could be done in BASH.
1:07:06 - I completely agree. This should be the entry point to Linux. Once you understand that you can get the most for whatever you want to do on linux.
1:49:10 You don't need pulse anymore if have pipewire just install *pipewire-pulse* package it will bind pulse audio API and server into pipewire don't forget to enable it via systemctl.
first of all Debian is still a pain to install, the only saving grace is they got rid of the non-free bs, not that that was ever an issue to begin with! lol alsofedora is amazing, I mean come on! I bet the OG, prophet linus himself still uses fedora. you should do a server list, I bet then Ubuntu becomes your first pick, and arch becomes your worst looool!
Debian is a distro you should probably not daily drive in most cases. I don't know if anyone really needs such a stable distribution for their pc that they absolutely need to run debian. If you do what I used to do and run debian but try to get newer packages thru other means, then you really are just missing the point. You should rather just install a more up to date distribution. And do not be fooled when people call non-debian distros less stable, if you try to use debian the way it was not supposed to be used, you are more likely to break your system than running an "unstable" rolling release like arch.
does this integrate with chat gpt?
There's no such thing as a forever distro, you WILL distro hop at some point.
When trying to install Bazzite on my mini PC i kept getting a "device active" error message and now I can't boot into Windows anymore. Any advice?
Yes agree its a long journey to switch to Linux its paying off now. Rocky start with Debian 7 when Gnome switched to Gnome 3 my goodness made me to switch plain openbox and still using it with tint2 best non tiling manager ever.
I'd like to be able to download CZcams videos directly on the command line. The previous utility seems to have been killed 😢
yt-dlp can do it now... but you didn't hear it from me... haha.
I'm left handed and in my Amiga days I designed a left handed cursor. I've tried googling around, but never found a way to change the Linux cursor 😢
I heard that the maker of the proton compatibility layer (Spicy Eggroll?) made Nobara and that due to that it is having the best game compatibility? I would love to hear your comments (and people's comments from here too).
When you said 300 hours of setup to save 3 minutes of work, all I can think of is how you should hire a smart, lazy person as they will figure out the best ways to do tasks easier and faster.
Further into the video, I suppose the biggest thing I would still ask for a greater explanation of, is why you would choose rolling vs stable. My understanding is that rolling is best for gamers as you are more likely to get games to work on there especially with newer packages.
what picom are you using
(Edit: Wrote this before you started showing your guide). I would love a series of videos on choosing your first Linux distro (aka pro's and con's of each/what best suits different needs), installing it, and installing programs you need, troubleshooting any issues you run into. Maybe also pro's and con's of using a base distro vs a pre-customised one (i.e. Fedora vs Nobara).
This is so useful to me when I get around to installing arch and dwm on my -07 iMac.
Waiting for you to finish LGS
This is overwhelming Do NOT conflate overwhelming with complex This mish mash of bs happened because of low i.q. A cohesive succinct, concise, precise & GLORiOUS effort needed to happen in the last half decade but it didn't
IF anyone feels my pain . go study turtle keave me be it hurts ...hit me back....a BIG thanks on the video 1SH OF MANY
With proton and proton GE I haven't found a game I couldn't run on linux. Linux really improved much after the steam deck launch and I permanently moved over now. The games with anticheat I really dont care about because having spyware on my pc really isn't my thing. These days for the average gamer I will definitely recommend trying out linux because some games even run beter with some tuning.
You clearly have better luck than me then...
Please do Windows from scratch
So seems it may have been more perception based. She always seemed like a drama queen to me
Today it is easier to switch then ever as linux is mature and there is plenty of info on the web
Sadly not for me. My VR headset isn't detected...
Best way to start in terminal, type Help -M Help
a guide on this would be wonderful ❤ proton and such, any guides on gaming on linux stuff would be wonderful!
try streaming from ur blfs system
lol recomending VPNs for security XD
Wow😲 I can do this, wonder of i can use a live image on a flash drive to run a vm to buld this and then install it on BM. Lol the LFS install flash drive😅
I like Mojeek, DuckDuckGo and Bing's results best.
im the minority but i hate lua with a passion
Where can I find protonrestart
There's so much missing on Linux, what does Linus Torvalds say about systemd on his Linux system, there were soo many good visual programming suites/tools back in the bubble, visual dos, visual JavaScript from netscape, visual basic, visual studio, visualFoxPro, visualSQL, visual Perl, borland Delph - Kylix, and other Rad visual dev platforms like Magick, and the java visual stuff, all gone because of linux
