I have a FRD-AX43A and used pmca-gui-v0.18-win.exe. With the Sony supplied USB cable (alone, without AC cable) it doesn't work ("Get camera info" OK, but "Start tweaking" Timeout). The camera screen remains black and no response from any buttons -> FEAR!!!! I unplug all the cables and unplug and plug in the battery...the camera starts up again ! (Relief) I tried with a second USB cable, a message appears on the camera (something like "Use AC cable"), even if I plug in the AC cable "Get camera information" does not work . I tried with a third USB cable AND an AC cable, "Start tweaking" finally works and the window with checkboxes appears. Finally, it works well in 30Fps, THANK YOU very, very much. PS: Maybe it works well with the included Sony USB cable and AC cable, but I haven't tried it.

I can't believe it! I've been using this camcorder with 4k 25p always being a bit annoyed deep down below, because it could do more if I had bought it from the US. I was just looking to buy another old AX33 from the US and now I find this gem and it really works... This is unbelievable... You really are a hero! Thanks!

Dude, you are a lifesaver! I had to buy an AX43A and shoot a video the next day on such short notice. I got the camcorder and was in a panic when trying to set it up, no 30fps option for 4k! I am in the US and bought it from a US seller, but it was stuck in PAL or something. This video saved me!

Now that I'm writing the comment under the video, I live in Milan, Italy, I confirm that it worked without problems on both Sony FDX AX-33s, on the first attempt the application told me that I needed to have a more charged battery so I connected the camera to the power cable and then everything went as per the tutorial. Thank you so much for the video and the application!!! You are truly great!!! Now the FDR AX33 videos go with those of the DJI Mavic 2 drone in automatic mode which runs only at 30 FPS.

Does this change change the color standards from PAL to NTSC at the same time the frame rate is changed?

Great guide, the LCD door on my original US version FDR-AX53 finally gave out and came unhinged, then the plastic cable came lose and I lost the power to my LCD screen. It's a 4 year old camera, been through a lot, been out on rough water fishing, been through duck hunting, many winters... Instead of sending it out to get the LCD door hinge fixed, I ended up getting a new Euro version for $780, then did this update, back in gear! Very much appreciated!!! I may one day get an expensive mirrorless, but so far, I just still love my FDR-AX53 still in 2023, being able to zoom in so far without having to change a lens and the B.O.S.S. stabilization is still best in it's class I think. I just hope Sony one day comes out with a future version of this amazing predecessor! Some of us that are in action sports, fishing, hunting, skiing, driving cars just want to point and shoot, not mess around with lenses and the rest of the crap like a clumsy gimbal! I bought a second version without any hesitation, so many great memories made with the AX53 and since some of you CZcamsrs put out these videos to change from PAL to NTSC, it allows some of us to extend the life of this camera since majority versions are either chinese or european version being sold right now... I mean I checked Best Buy near me, they're still selling the, but for top dollar like $1,050, bought the Euro version on Walmart for only $780! I still get other CZcamsrs saying their impressed with some of my videos and have bought the AX53 despite owning an expensive DSLR or mirrorless... Sony built one amazing camcorder, now it's time to come out with an upgraded version, I sure hope that one day happens!

Thank you so much. I just bought a new AX43a for a really good price, and when I got it I realized the catch is that it was 25p. Followed the steps with no problems whatsoever and filmed a nice test video in 30p. Out of curiosity, is there any disadvantages to disabling the video recording limit? Will the video file size end up getting corrupt?

It splits the files when recording and not full footage

It's so annoying - every Sony (and other brands) photo camera has an option to change Pal to NTSC and the other way, but handycams don't have that option! It's outrageous!

It's really amazing that someone had to make this extra program to change something that should have come standard

Super video ! Merci. But is there any way to get in 4 K 30p and 25 p in the same time ? I don t need 24 p. Because in Europe you need 25 p at night sometimes because of the lights.

thank you for this information: this is such a nightmare to change that I will stick to the PAL 25fps even if I wanted to test the 30 fps.

I wonder if this tweak will unlock the language issue. My FDR-AXP35 is already in NTSC but does not allow for English. Only Japanese as it was from Japan. Can we check the all language box and pick English?

thanks man! helped a lot! Worked on FDR-AX33. Set from 25p to 24p, disable NTSC/PAL switch -> 30p option appeared in menu :)

Hi Sean, this video is great, but do you have any idea why on my AX53, the same menu, lack the possibility to change to 24p mode? It is completely missing
