Sometimes in game design and animation program, or even general broadcasting studies, you get an assignment to make make either a pitch bible or a website for an imagined game, film, or series. It's used as a way to build portfolios and to get newbie to think about what info you need to present a project to an audience. So while some of them might be made for ARGs or CreepyPastas, a lot of them might be made as an a form of study. With games specifically, something a lot of aspiring concept artists forget about is UI design so I imagine creating fake video games would be a good way to get artists thinking about that element. (I'm saying this as someone who had to do these sorts of assignments in college)

i think that there a lot of people who are kinda like this, but society definetly makes or breaks them in this day and age, nathan is absolutely killing it and the best comedy really does come from a sincere place, it'd be worse for me the further he has to draw for that character, i've always loved how within reach it is for him, that that is his comfort, he could be so many things with the effort that he obviously puts in, but he's really just playing the character that everyone said that he already was, just even harder and has really made it all on it, he is definetly one of my favourite artists i feel like even you are misrepresenting it, getting so drawn in, this is still all a tv show, adam driver and the carving of his dog are crying

One interesting thing I was hoping that would be mentioned the Elden Ring fan games from Reddit. It was a time where r/Elden Ring had gone over a year without any news about it the game and the Reddit began to become a strange board filled with fake bosses, boss music, and stories of people claiming they played this "fake" game that was created by the very fandom out of hunger for some news on Elden Ring. It was their that the now semi famous Tuba Knight was created that it itself spawned a legion of fake games with characters and music that them themselves continued into a further descent into fake game creation.

Even worse is that the "original" creepy garfield video used stolen art from another artist.
