Hey Edgar! Aloha and glad you are making it out to Hawaii. It depends on when you go. Kayak rentals on weekends get taken quickly as you can tell it's a popular activity. In addition, rental companies will not allow you on go to the Mokes on Sundays due to a local law. Only private kayak owners can go on Sundays. If you go during the weekdays, you'll be fine to walk in to any nearby kayak rental place. I used Hawaiian WaterSports for much of my rentals. There's also Groupons if you want more savings. You'll have to put it on your car and go to a Lanikai beach from the rental place. In summary, make a reservation if you are planning on doing this on a Saturday (which you can do on the company websites). @@PilotEdgar Yes that's a good amount of time. It all depends on where you depart from. Head the to beach at this address (1502 Mokulua Dr, Kailua, HI 96734) and it's a straight shot directly to the islands with no reefs. Going from the beach to the Mokes, you'll be against the flow of water so depending on your progress and how many stops you take, it can take you about 30-40 min. Once you get there you'll probably relax, enjoy the views, snack, and walk about the island to explore. Start to head back to the beach around 5 PM. Since you'll now be with the flow of water, it'll take you 20-30 minutes and that will take you to finishing by 5:30 PM. You'll have to allot time to bring the kayak back to your car and return to your rental store afterwards. Let know if I can help you with anything else.
