The Voigtlander Vito ii with Pronto Shutter

A guide to this classic voigtlander camera.
It looks a lot a Zenit, as i recall.
One not to buy then, how much a bargain it might be 🙄👍📸
Thank you for this video, kind sir! I'm just getting into shooting film with older analog cameras, and I found this exact model at a thrift shop with a few small accessories and booklets for $25. I've heard the meters on these go bad often, but I haven't tested mine yet. Either way, I'm excited to play around with this hefty machine; apart from disentigrating light seals, it looks to be in decent condition! Also, I could listen to you teach about cameras all day; your voice is so calming and pleasant. :)
Once you have the huge hands thet don't fit an ME Super is more ergonomical, or an Olympus with the speed setting ring on the front ring.
Interestingly, the instruction manual says the battery should last about five years - based on using 12 x 24 exposure rolls of film per year. A soldered in battery seems like a very odd design choice. Apparently, this was the first camera to be powered by a lithium battery.
I had one. I may still do, somewhere. I remember it took very good photos. I think the batteries must have lasted an awful long time. I don't ever remember changing them. Barmy idea though.
I like my FM to me its the sweet spot combining good engineering, design, reliability, a good feel to the controls and not too much weight.
Love your videos, Andy. Recently bought myself an old ME Super and once I’d cleaned the battery terminals it has performed really well. Everything on the camera is very small but I love it and it’s a real looker. Please keep producing your work.
According to the Minolta manual on page 5 the "A" on the XG-M (X-70 in Japan) means Automatic (not Aperture). Automatic mode is also aperture priority and the camera will automatically determine the correct shutter speed for whatever aperture setting you select. However, if the light meter determines a shutter speed shorter than 1/1000 sec. or longer than 1 sec. the shutter will NOT release in A mode. In Manual mode (any shutter speed other than A) the camera shutter will fire for any shutter/aperture combination you select.
Andy, I love your videos, they are not too technical, they are the right length (not too long) and always very positive about the issue you’re addressing. Please make more, your fan base will appreciate anything you produce.
Just find this one at a secondhand website and it looks like a neat little project. Funny how manufacturers back then were already trying to fit a camera into a pocket and now we all have smartphones. If only the picture quality would be as good as those old cameras!
I purchased a Voigtländer Vito BL last weekend at an antique (junk) shop in Upstate New York. I did not think the shutter worked until I watched this post. Thank you for the tip that stated film was required to be loaded for the shutter to trip. Eureka! My shutter works splendidly!
@@charlesrwilliams they are super cameras! Thanks for watching!
📷I just bought the same camera and I'm looking forward to trying it out📸
Hello, yes please, I would like to see videos in relation to the topics you mentioned.
This is my first camera. All major memories of my family were taken with it. Today I still have it. With flash device using single use bulbs. The advantage of this easy to use apparatus is to be able to take multiple exposures and extremly nice sunset pictures due to it's uncoated single lens objective. Love it, simple and stripped to basic functionality. A kind of "Ancient Holga". 📷❤
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time never a bad one if you want to diversify by all means but if you find a camera that you want to show us please do I think a lot of my camera collection was your cameras as shown by you 👍👍👍🎞🎞
By all means. A little bit of diversification will do no harm at all.
Yes, I would like to see videos on lenses, films etc- I like the channel - keep up the good work!
Really love your explanations and enthusiasm for the hobby.. So, yes please, give it a go but also wind in a bit of the history as to why things have happened.. always good to have context and it takes one back to those pioneers of photography 😉
I have recently purchased a moskva 4 ( basically the same camera) i want to take it on a bicycle trip but im wonderung how the rangfinder will hold up to the vibrations
It’s still nice to see the camera. By all means make educational videos if you’d like to . One aspect I’d like to improve in my own case is landscape photography in general . A second , minor topic is something I had a conversation about recently , the proper use of filters with regard to film photography
Thank you, filters is on the list!
I have seen lots of your videos about cameras and find them all very interesting and not boring at all. I like your way of explaining things, and love the simple pictures you show to highlight the capabilities of the gear, which also show us foreigners a little part of Great Britain. Please continue to share your knowledge in all things photographic. However, keep showing cameras and talking about them whenever you have the chance.
Studio, two or three light metering. Please
Love your suggestion about broadening the channel, especially from someone with your experience. I think there are a lot of resources out there for some of the basic technical ideas (focal lengths, aperture, exposure triangle, etc), but not as many about composition, how to build your imagination for taking better photos, developing a style, etc. Here to watch whatever you do.
Thank you, good comment, plan is to start with basics but then talk about wider issues such as style and reasoning.
Hi, I am a avid watcher, I enjoy the videos on the different cameras. I wanted to try 120 film, as I have only ever used 35mm. So due to enjoying a video on the GB Kershaw's I bought a 110 for a £10. I think introducing your teaching experiences into the channel would make it a amazing resource for us beginner film photographers, and even experienced photographers would enjoy review on different film stock and develping equipment. I have kentmere 100 and 400 in the post for my GB Kershaw 110. I'll look forward to seeing more videos you create.
Sounds like a job for Find It Fix It Flog It.... Lol..
Composition and aspect ratios are often overlooked, so I would be interested in videos on these from your experienced perspective.
Yes please, I would certainly like to see more on the subjects you mentioned. Thank you.
Yea, anything to do with analog.
Please do an advanced course on the Sunny 16 rule
Yes to all of those.
I have been a film photographer and collector ( over 350 to date ) since 1981, what I would like to see is a review of the current range of B&W films that are on offer today. There are others that do these reviews but I would like to see your views.
Yes, comparing Fomapan 100 and 400 for starters?
Have just ordered some fomapan 400 this evening!
@@bertboer2936 Agreed, I'm also very interested in black and white film, 35mm and 120
Oh yes, the top meter window... that's a fantastic "stealth" tool for cheeky street photographers that shoot from the hip! Quick question for you. At 06:45 you show us a landscape shot with the yellow filter taken near Corfe Castle (?). The sky is great but the woodland seems under-exposed. I just ran a full reel of Ilford SFX200 with a yellow filter through my FE (and I know the metering is spot-on) yet the same thing happened to me. Well illuminated architecture came up great, but foliage and anything in the shade was as black as sin. Skin tones on portraits were subdued to the point of blandness. I put it down to the film, but do you not think it may have been the filter?
@eddyhoughton6542 good question, I think it will have an effect, I will investigate further!
I've been wanting a Zorki for more than a decade and finally bought a Zorki 4 off Etsy today! Thank you for your review, it helped me make my decision :)
Any relation to today's electric shavers/razors?
According to wiki it is!
thank you for your upliading.

thank you for this video 😊
💯🇹🇷⭐️👍 I have 1 of this NIKON f3 device, it is very clean, it is for sale, if anyone is interested, there is a video on my CZcams channel.
Hello, I was gifted one of those by a cousin whose father had passed. Serial number 74904. I was told that the rangefinder had been recalibrated about 4 years ago. The camera looks to be in very good condition. It has a b&w film in it and it is unexposed. I have never had a ‘proper’ camera and I don’t have a clue how to use it. It has the original leather case and I had some of the stitching repaired. I have some photos on this phone but I don’t know how to attach them.
Bought this new in 1974 for about $200. Still use it. I have 12 cameras but this is still my favorite because of the great ergonomics and clear viewfinder.
A great camera. My first proper camera was one of these and I've got an SP500 now, The only difference being the 1000th sec. speed is not labelled but it's still there.
Здравствуйте, сколько денег за нее отдали? Сейчас еду покупать такую за 8$, или даже за 6$.
I had one in poor shape. I've always wanted a good one. The problem is, I've never found one in good shape, after looking for years on eBay.
This video was extremely helpful!! 😂 I just found my dads one, which is effectively untouched. It has a 50mm and 200mm lens. Besides that, ive no idea about operating a camera. Ill have a go with it, but your results were great 👍
Do u know what the smiley face is on the dial?
Looks almost the same as my IS-300 but IS-100 is lacking exposure correction option.
Just had my first roll back off the F501 that incredibly I bought for £36 with a Nikkor 35-105,the results look excellent
Very goog camera, I love it, I have whole family of IS models: Is 100s, IS 200, IS 300, IS 1000, IS 2000, IS 3000, IS 5000, and I love them all 🙂 Underrated and good cameras 👍
Wow! Completely wrong about that extra button! It's not even a button. It's called 'release socket F' and it's for an electronic shutter release cable! 😂 Did you just totally make up a button and its function 😮😂
I was misinformed, thank you for your correction.
